Chapter 1199: This Was All Because Of A Sibling Rivalry
“So… How did this even happen? How did we suddenly get involved with a tour with the prince guiding us around?” Emilia asked after we returned to the inn and explained everything to the girls.
All of them looked at Minnera and Katsuki as though expecting them to answer that question.
Minnera shrugged, “It seems like they had planned for this from the very start. There wasn’t much we could do.”
Why does it sound like you girls planned for something like this to happen?
Lisa sighed, “What’s done is done. So I guess we should just prepare for this sudden tour that we have found ourselves in.”
“Why do you make it sound like that’s a really bad thing?” I asked.
Lisa gave me a pointed look, “Did you want this to happen, Aster?”
“No?”
“That’s why it’s a bad thing.”
Fair enough… Though now I’m wondering what they need to prepare for…
I didn’t get to ask because Katsuki had then brought up the fact that she learned about the fruit tea thing and Emilia got really interested in it.
Obviously I got dragged into it and Minnera already knew what I was trying to do as well so she also got involved in explaining to Emilia about the concept of the business.
The rest of the day ended up being spent to taste test various different variations of the tea that Katsuki got as a recipe from Queen Asami.
Ok, I’ll admit that the tea actually got most of my attention throughout the day and I only remembered about the prince when it was the new day.
In other words… It was the day of the tour.
The good thing was that everyone else was following along so I wasn’t alone which I think would have made it really awkward.
I was greeted in the morning by Katsuki telling me that the prince was waiting for me in the inn’s lobby early in the morning.
Why was he here so early?!
I figured that it would not be good to make the prince wait so I got all the girls up and dressed in record time before I descended to the lobby with them in tow.
I did a quick scan of the lobby and I realised that I don’t see the golden hair that would have been the most obvious trait of the prince anywhere in the lobby.
That was when I noticed one of the patrons stand up and head towards me.
The fact that he was walking over to us purposefully made me think that he might be related to the prince and he was coming over to let us know where the prince was.
“Oh! Good morning, Lady Aster! I’m really sorry for coming so early but since we didn’t exactly set a time to meet, I thought I would just come as soon as I was able!”
I looked at the guy standing in front of me up and down.
This guy had dark brown hair and looked a little taller than the prince. He was dressed rather smartly which made him look like a rich merchant that was out on a stroll.
I tilted my head at him, “Sorry but… Who are you?”
He seemed confused by my question for a moment before he slapped his forehead, “Ah, my bad… It’s me, Hisami. This is my disguise. I am proficient in Somatomancy magic.”
“Err… This is the first I’ve heard of that… How do I know that you are telling the truth?”
He chuckled, “Ahaha, I see you are really cautious, Lay Aster. I suppose the fact that I know I lost to both you and your painter in our spar yesterday is enough to prove my identity?”
Hmm… The only people who knew about this aside from me and my girls were the queen and the prince… Unless they went ahead to tell others about it, which I don’t think it’s the case since I doubt they would announce that fact to anyone else…
I looked him up and down again, “You really transformed yourself into this, Prince Hisami?”
He made a pose, “What do you think? I know it doesn’t look as good as my real self though, but I have to do this in order to keep myself hidden.”
Right… I’m not even going to comment on it…
But seeing that he’s alone… No, I do not believe for a moment that he was actually out here alone without at least some kind of security.
I’m guessing his guards must be hiding nearby and ensuring his safety.
He looked behind me and seemed a little surprised to see my girls.
“Ah… Ummm… Are these your party members, Lady Aster?”
I nodded, “All of them are the people who I trust with my life and who I will die for.”
All of them started blushing from my praise so I went ahead to introduce each of them to the prince.
He nodded at them in greeting, “Hello everyone! Nice to meet all of you!”
Geez, he really sounds excited huh…
Is this his first time going out with others or something?
He turned to me, “Alright, shall we start, Lady Aster?”
I nodded, “Of course, Prince Hisami.”
“Please, I’m currently incognito… You can just call me Sami instead.”
I’m really going to have to pat myself on the back for being able to hear him say that and not cringe at all and merely just nodded at him to show I understood.
Lisa… Please don’t giggle… At least try and pretend that it’s like a cough or something…
Thankfully, the prince didn’t notice and continued, “Shall we head out then? There’s a lot of places I want to show you!”
He led us out of the inn and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a few others also leaving their seats not so subtly.
I’m guessing those guys must be the prince’s guards also following along incognito.
Let’s just pretend we didn’t see anything then…
“So… Where are we headed to first, Pri– Ahem… Sami?”
For some reason, he seemed really happy after he heard me, “Ah! You will like this, Lady Aster! The first place we’re going to is the starting point of this entire city! The place where the first King laid down the foundations that would transform this place into the city that it is today!”
So this is a historical and cultural tour then? I had thought he might be leading us on a shopping tour or something but I don’t mind this either.
We arrived at what appears to be a small shrine of sorts in the middle of a garden of sorts.
I say garden of sorts because it felt like this was like a small forest within the city itself where a small grove of trees were growing surrounding the shrine.
What was interesting was the fact that these trees were normal sized trees instead of the giant, towering trees that surrounded the city, as if this grove of trees were only recently planted or something.
In front of the shrine was what appeared to be a wooden stick that had somehow been embedded into a rock.
The stick was definitely planted by someone there since there were signs of it being sharpened and I could somehow sense there was some kind of enchantment around it.
Inside the shrine itself which looked like those roadside shrines that you might pass by in the countryside, there was a small wooden carving of a rather familiar looking figure with antler horns on his head.
Right… This place is under Drebann’s jurisdiction, almost forgot about that.
“This was the place where the city was first founded. Where the first king had staked his claim on this land and settled down with his tribe to form the first city,” Prince Hisami told us with pride.
Behind me though, I could hear Emilia whispering, “And this is also the place where the City and Nomads started their splinter… Is he going to talk about that?”
Thankfully she said it softly enough that the prince didn’t hear her but I guess this meant that this was where the animosity between the two types of Nekomata started as well?
As though reading my mind, the prince gestured to the rock, “You might have heard of this but… This is also the place where the distinction between the two types of Nekomatas also started. Where one side wanted to settle down and build while the other side wanted to roam and explore. It could have just ended amicably but… The two leaders at that time were brothers and they never let that go which only made the animosity on both sides grow. They wanted to prove to each other that their way of living was better than the other’s.”
Seriously? This sounds like this whole entire thing was just a sibling rivalry that got out of hand then?
Hey, are you people alright with this? Why the heck are all of you just carrying on this stupid feud in that case?!
