Chapter 1274: I Got This Flower As Proof
I opened my eyes for the third time today where I find myself inside a shrine.
Ironic how I haven’t really been meeting with the gods for so long and suddenly I have three separate meetings all in the same day today.
I turned around to see that the priestess was still being held by Katsuki and Minnera where my maid had a knife to her throat and my Comissar lover had a gun to her head.
She was still glaring daggers at me so I cleared my throat to explain, “Ahem… I met with Drebann and he told me that it was not Immana who was responsible.”
She narrowed her eyes at me, “Just how far are you willing to disrespect the Gods above you, mortal?! There’s a limit to how far you can go!!”
“I’ll just let you know that I have received explicit permission to refer to them directly by their names.”
“That’s the biggest lie I have ever heard! You really dare to claim that you have met Goddess Drebann directly?! You must be hallucinating! Is that how you got her to help you as well?! Did you really manage to convince her that you met a Goddess?!”
I’m guessing she was referring to Minnera for the last part.
I didn’t say anything and simply took out the thing that Drebann had given me after I had dumped a load of my honey down her throat earlier.
A single red flower that looked like a rose but I wasn’t sure what the name of the plant was which Drebann had snipped off from her garden to give to me.
I wasn’t really sure why this would be able to prove that I had actually met her but she assured me that if I showed this to the Head Priestess, she would know I was telling the truth.
Sure enough, as soon as she saw it, the Head Priestess’s eyes went wide and her mouth hung open in disbelief.
“That… Where… How… Did you… Did you really meet Goddess Drebann?”
“Is this still not proof enough for you?” I asked, waving the flower in front of her.
“A Flower of Return… Only grown by Goddess Drebann herself and granted to those that she favours… No wait! Even though these are given to those she favours, that doesn’t mean you can call her so casually! You should still be showing her the minimum amount of respect for a Goddess! How did you even get this flower in the first place?!”
I decided to just tell her part of the truth.
“I had to give Drebann some honey.”
Katsuki and Minnera obviously knew what I meant but the Head Priestess narrowed her eyes at me in confusion.
“Honey? Goddess Drebann gave you that legendary flower that can even bring someone back from the dead just for some honey? Are you really telling the truth right now?”
Minnera let out a sigh and dematerialised her gun, “I don’t know if you are really just that stupid but obviously she got the flower for some honey only because it’s her that’s giving it. If it was you or me trying to give Goddess Drebann the honey in exchange for that flower, we would be tossed out.”
Well… I guess she’s accurate in a sense since there were specific actions Drebann was interested in for the extraction of my honey specifically…
The High Priestess looked at Minnera for a moment before turning back to me, “Who… Who are you, really?”
“Just someone passing by, you don’t need to worry that much. Anyway, I have confirmed that Immana was definitely not involved in this and whoever is targeting the Tree of Life has nothing to do with the Gods.”
The High Priestess frowned, “If it’s not related to them… Then who? We even saw a Comissar amongst them as well… Why would a Comissar be working with people trying to destroy the Tree of Life unless the God they served told them to?”
I tilted my head at her, “First of all, who has seen these people? Second of all… Is it possible that the Comissar might just be doing it out of their own will?”
“We had hunters who were out hunting coming across them digging holes at where we found the Mana Crystals. At first they had claimed that they were looking for something and the Comissar revealed their identity so everyone thought that it was Godly business and no one questioned it… It was later when someone else went there to check did we find the Mana Crystals buried at the same place.”
She then paused and looked down at where Katsuki still held a dagger at her throat.
Oh right.
I nodded at Katsuki and my Inugami maid stepped away, though she still kept the dagger in her hand ready.
The Trasif Priestess didn’t seem too bothered and turned her attention back to me, “As for the second question… I find it highly unlikely that a Comissar would do something that they know might anger another God unless it was the God they served commanding them to do so… Either that or… They are being manipulated into doing so…”
“Manipulated? Like mind control?”
“Perhaps, I suppose… I would not be surprised if that was really the case,” She admitted.
Hmm… I guess I should put that possibility in mind then.
“So do we have a description of the perpetrators or even some kind of drawing that might make it easier to identify them?”
“I… Believe I should be able to make arrangements for that… Should I?”
I shifted my gaze to Katsuki, only to see her give me a not so subtle nod of her head.
“That will help, yes,” I answered the priestess.
“In that case, please wait here! I will be right back!”
She then ran off, leaving me alone with Katsuki and Minnera once again.
Minnera immediately turned to raise an eyebrow at me, “Did you actually meet Goddess Immana?”
I stored the flower Drebann gave me in my Bangle of Folding and sighed, “Yes… But I will say that she was the one who appeared instead of me going out of my way to go meet her.”
“And you… Actually gave Goddess Drebann some dicking? Ahem… Goddess?”
“Err… Apparently the gods aren’t fixed to one gender and she changed herself to a female and she’s hot as a girl… So I just gave it to her. And it was a trade where I let her blow me for that flower.”
Minnera pursed her lips, “Yeah… I think… It would be best that no one else outside of your harem ever finds out that the Gods are literally paying you to suck your dick, Aster.”
I have nothing to say to that.
My Comissar lover came closer to me, “So what was Goddess Immana like? I heard some things about her from others but what did you think about her?”
“Hmm? Well… She’s nice? Apparently she likes really cute things and this entire banishing the Trasifs seemed to have been one big misunderstanding. She doesn’t actually hate the Trasifs but she had to expel them from her realm because it was making them go crazy. I guess she was a little forceful in her methods which made people think she really hated them.”
Minnera blinked at me.
Even Katsuki seemed surprised to learn about this, which means this misunderstanding really extended that deep to the point that it’s already just an accepted fact.
I thought Minnera would question me about the misunderstanding part but she was surprised about something else, “Goddess Immana was… Nice?”
“Hmm? Yeah. She gave off a lot of big sister energy I guess? She was basically cuddling me the entire time with her tails and named me her little sister. She’s actually really cute.”
“The Goddess of the In-Between Planes… The Goddess of madness, illusions and horrors… Was cute?”
“Are those really her titles?”
“They are some of them, yes. I will be honest, I am not surprised to know that the Goddess took a liking to you but I definitely wouldn’t think that she might act that way with you, Aster…”
“Well… Drebann did say that she was schizophrenic as well so… Maybe I met her when she wasn’t being crazy? Drebann also said that she was surprised she acted the way she did when she met me too…”
Katsuki nodded her head, “As expected of Mistress.”
Minnera took a look at my Inugami maid before shrugging at me, “I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised at this point… As expected of Aster.”
No no… I’m pretty sure there’s a logical explanation for all this…
Before I could try and reason away, the Trasif priestess returned, clutching several pieces of paper in her hands.
“I have them right here! Will this be useful?”
That was fast.
I took the drawings from her and they were rough sketches of the perpetrators which I definitely wouldn’t know how to identify just by the drawings but… These aren’t for me anyway.
I looked at Katsuki and she nodded again.
“These will do. We’ll get to work right away.”
And by ’we’, I mean our information network of overpowered maids~
