Chapter 1278: Something’s Wrong With Plant Spirits?
I entered the tree manor cautiously, wondering if this wasn’t just some elaborate trap where I’m led here just so that the Trasif can make me fuck her or something.
Behind the door was a tired looking Trasif that was wearing what looked like a labcoat wrapped around her shoulders. She had a head of blonde hair that was left unkempt which cascaded past her shoulders, hiding most of her face from view.
Still… I could see that she was somewhat sleep deprived judging from the bags under her eyes.
She closed the door behind us and turned to us, “So what’s this about? How is she able to help me?”
Our Trasif guide gestured at me, “Umm… Doctor? Do you not see what is clinging onto her right now?”
The so-called ’doctor’ blinked and she narrowed her eyes at me.
I guess she only just realised that I had plant spirits clinging onto me as she let out a gasp, “H… How is that possible? Who is she?”
The Trasif guide puffed up her chest proudly, “That’s because she is Goddess Drebann’s favourite!”
Erm… No offense but… Why do you look so proud as if you were the one that was Drebann’s favourite?
The doctor looked at me up and down like she was inspecting some kind of puzzle.
“You are… Goddess Drebann’s favourite? Why would you be Goddess Drebann’s favourite?”
I tilted my head at her, “That’s a weird question to ask… But I can tell you that she’s telling the truth.”
She came up to me and circled around me, inspecting me even closer before nodding at the other Trasif, “I’ll take it from here, you can go back now.”
She even opened the door to usher our Trasif guide out as though she saw her as a nuisance.
The Trasif guide didn’t even look offended and acted like this was something that was expected before she left the house, probably already aware that this might happen.
Minnera was just standing at the side watching the supposed Trasif doctor continue to circle around me and looking at every corner of my body.
“Err… Could I ask what’s going on?” I asked.
She didn’t answer me and stopped in front of me, making me realise that she was about my chest height.
She stood on her tip toes just to look into my cleavage and I immediately knew she wasn’t trying to look at my boobs but at the plant spirit currently napping in the valley of my boobs.
Feeling a little sympathetic to her lack of height, I bent my knees to lower myself so that she could look at it without needing to stand on her tiptoes.
She mumbled something that might have been a thanks but focused on the plant spirit in between my boobs instead.
Without saying anything, she reached out her hand and poked the plant spirit with a finger, prompting it to wake up from its nap.
The plant spirit let out a yawn before looking around, only to see the doctor looking at her.
In response to that, the spirit puffed up her cheeks like she was upset that she got woken up before she squeezed herself into my cleavage, disappearing into the space between my boobs entirely.
It felt a little weird to have something moving around in there but… It wasn’t a bad kind of weird so I didn’t try to stop her.
The doctor finally stood upright to look at me instead of the fairies clinging to me.
“I am Abarra, a researcher who has dedicated my life to studying the Tree of Life. You can just call me Aba or Doctor like the others if you want,” She introduced herself.
My usual habits took over and I gave her a curtsy, “Well met, Miss Abarra. You can call me Aster.”
She paused before awkwardly doing a curtsy herself, “Sorry, I did not know you were of noble birth, Lady Aster. Once again, I am Abarra Teal. You can call me whatever you like.”
Hmm… I have a feeling that she might have either been a former noble in another country or lived in noble society before.
“So what is going on here? I was brought here without knowing anything.”
Abarra tilted her head at me, “So you are unaware of what is happening with the Plant Spirits right now?”
“I didn’t even know about their existence until just recently… And by recently I mean like maybe an hour ago at most.”
She let out a soft hum before beckoning to me, “Follow me then… I see why you were sent here now.”
We went inside the manor, climbing up the stairs towards the upper floors.
“There has been something happening to the plant spirits for the past month or so and we have no idea why it was happening… At first, one or two of them would just fall asleep and then stay asleep while showing no signs of waking up. We thought it might be some kind of evolutionary thing but the other plant spirits seem to also think this is weird with how they kept trying to wake their brethren up. I’ve brought all the unconscious spirits here in order to study the phenomenon since we believe it might be tied to the state of the Tree of Life itself.”
We reached the highest room and she pushed the door open to show it was a room with an open ceiling that allowed one to look up into the tree’s canopy unobstructed.
Just above the leaves, we could see the giant form of the Tree of Life stretching upwards into the sky above.
There were several small beds arranged in neat rows around the room and each bed had a plant spirit sleeping in them.
Just at a glance, it looks like there were at least two or three dozen of them sleeping in this room alone.
“As you can see… At first it was just a couple… But the numbers just kept increasing and increasing and none of them wake up after being put to sleep. We tried to ask the other spirits what was causing this but they all said that they didn’t know. So far, we believe that since they were tied to the Tree of Life, it might mean there was something happening to the tree itself.”
Oh… This might be connected to the group trying to destroy it then. I wonder if the common folk know about the plot or are they kept in the dark about it?
I’m going to guess that they aren’t aware of it since they would definitely be panicking if they knew something was planning to destroy their tree.
“May I?” I asked, gesturing towards the plant spirits that were unconscious.
Abarra nodded, “At this stage, I will take all the help I can get. I’m quite literally at my wits end as nothing I have tried seems to work. I have already attempted healing magic, feeding them healing potions, spells that dispels curses and poisons and even attempted a resurrection spell too but none of them worked.
I went over to one of the beds to lean over one of the plant spirits.
She looked completely at peace laying there and if it wasn’t for the rise and fall of her chest, I might have thought that she was dead.
I poked at the plant spirit, wondering if my touch might wake her but nothing happened.
I even tried to shake her a little like you would when trying to wake someone up but unsurprisingly, she remained unconscious.
The thought about using healing magic also came to me but Abarra already mentioned that she had tried that and it didn’t work so I chose not to waste my magic.
But just as I was going to pull back and retreat from the plant spirit, the other plant spirits that had been clinging to me suddenly flew up and started flying in front of me, all of them miming actions while gesturing at their friends.
“Apostle!! Apostle!! Bath! Bath!!”
“Bathe friends! Wake up!!”
“Apostle bath!! Apostle bath!!”
I blinked at them and turned to Abarra, “Err… Are you hearing this?”
She tapped her chin thoughtfully, “A bath with you? I… Suppose I could arrange that. I do have a bath in this house after all so we might as well give it a shot?”
I was about to agree when the plant spirits flew in front of me again and made the ’X’ sign with their arms.
“No!! Not water bath!!”
“Water bath no!! Apostle bath!!”
I tilted my head at them, “Sorry… But I don’t understand… What do you mean by bath if it’s not actually taking a bath with them?”
All of them spun around me once before gathering at a single spot which made me instantly realised what they were talking about…
They flew towards my crotch and started rubbing it while chattering excitedly.
“Bath!! Apostle bath!!”
“Apostle liquid!! Bath!!”
…
I have nothing to say here…
