Chapter 1319: To The Other Side Of The Forest
With all our things packed and ready, we were prepared to leave the city once again to continue our journey.
But when I looked out the window as we were about to leave the room, I found the entire streets outside flooded with Trasifs that were crowding around the inn.
“Erm… Girls? We might have a problem…” I muttered.
The girls joined me at the window to look down at the crowd that was gathered there.
Lisa chuckled, “Ehehehe~ I guess you’ve become really popular overnight, Aster~”
I grimaced, “Well… This is going to make it difficult for us to leave here, won’t it?”
Emilia also made the same face as I did, “I’m pretty sure they all heard about you saving their tree so they’re all here to celebrate you, Boss.”
I groaned, “Don’t tell me we would need to be paraded out of here? Oh gods… If we walk out of the gates, are they going to follow us around as well?”
Ira narrowed her eyes at the crowd, “Just toss a few people around and they would naturally scatter, Aster.”
Tsara scoffed, “Typical… Did you already forget what Lady Aster had said yesterday? Now you want to ruin the status quo for her?”
Ira sniffed at her but said nothing.
Katsuki bowed her head, “Don’t worry Mistress. I have made an arrangement to deal with this.”
As though on cue, the crowd at the edge started to part as another group was moving towards our inn.
It took a moment for me to realise that the person leading the group was Ladia and the people behind her looked like other priestesses from the temple.
I blinked at the sight before turning to Katsuki, tilting my head as a silent question on what this was about.
“I have arranged a Grey Walker to transport us out of the city through the Waystone that Ladia had shown us yesterday.”
Oh~
I grabbed Katsuki and pulled her into my embrace, kissing her full on the lips before letting go.
“You’e a genius, Katsuki! I love you!”
“A… Ahh… Thank you, Mistress… You overpraise me.”
Despite her trying to act nonchalant about my sudden show of affection, her tail was wagging up a storm behind her.
So cute~
We went downstairs and even the Trasif staff members were cheering as we walked through the lobby.
Ahhhhhh… I really want to just hide behind one of my girls right now… And this wasn’t even the worst part…
As soon as I stepped out through the door the cheers coming from everyone gathered there was loud enough to cause the trees around us to shake visibly.
Heck, it wasn’t just Trasifs that were gathered here as I could see pretty much all the residents that were non Trasifs were also out here.
I guess for them, if the tree had been destroyed, their lives would also have been destroyed as well.
The only reason why I wasn’t being mobbed right now was thanks to Ladia standing in front of the entrance waiting for me with her retinue, the crowd forming a circle around her like there was an invisible wall between them.
She bowed as soon as I stepped closer to her, “Apostle… On behalf of everyone who is living under the Tree of Life’s protection… I thank you. You will always be welcome here.”
Another cheer went up through the crowd.
Uggghh… I wish I was wearing my mask now…
I wanted to just hide myself right now…
Thankfully, I was saved somewhat as our group was surrounded by the priestesses forming a wall around us before we started our move towards the temple.
The crowd and the cheers followed us the entire way and I felt that I needed to play up the crowd as well so I gave them waves as we moved through the city.
By the time we reached the temple, I was ready to dive into Katsuki’s tails and hide my face.
Ladia turned to me as soon as we stepped inside the temple, “Apologies, Apostle… Our people are a little… Passionate… When it comes to the Tree of Life that has protected us for generations.”
I nodded, “Don’t worry… I completely understand. Ahem… I believe we would be using that Waystone to leave this place?”
“That’s correct, Apostle. I’m afraid if you were to leave normally… Some overly enthusiastic people might want to follow you. I agree that this is the best way for you to continue your journey unhindered so I had one of my priestesses who is also a Grey Walker chosen to guide you out through the Waystone. Once again, I thank you for helping our people in this.”
I decided to just accept her thanks before I led my girls to the Waystone located in the shrine.
There, a Trasif was waiting for us and she bowed to us the moment she saw me.
“Young Mistress. It is an honour.”
I blinked, looking her up and down to check that she was indeed not wearing a maid uniform but priestess robes instead.
Well… I already know that we had maids that had infiltrated here from the very start so it wasn’t that surprising to find another one I suppose…
I nodded at her, “Thank you for your hard work.”
“I am merely doing what is expected of me, Young Mistress. Now… May I know where you wish to go?”
I’m not really that familiar with the route so I turned to my girls.
Odeta was the one who stepped up excitedly, “Oh!! We’re going to the land of the Wrunch and Amraps next right? Then we can drop off at the Forest Corridor!”
The Trasif nodded, “I believe there should be a Waystone east of Evolslrig village which would bring you close to the Forest Corridor. Shall I send you there?”
Odeta nodded, “That sounds like a good place! Let’s go!”
“Very well.”
She turned towards the Waystone and stretched out her hand to point at it.
A portal opened up and she led the way into the In-Between Planes, all of us stepping into a rather familiar looking landscape where things around us look like what you might see when you’re hallucinating.
Honestly… I was already kind of expecting it but… I was still a little surprised when I found a giant Immana in the sky looking down at us.
“Mmmm~ Always nice to see you here, Aster~” She giggled.
Ira looked like she was going to try and jump up and attack her again but I shot her a look and she settled herself.
“Ara, ara~ Seems like you’ve put a leash on her~ How cute~” Immana giggled.
Ira ignored her and simply turned away, refusing to look in the goddess’s direction.
I waved at the goddess, “Hello Immana Onee-chan. We’re umm…”
“Looking for the Waystone at the Forest Corridor? Mmmm~ Right over there~”
She pointed her finger and a floating island immediately flew towards us, stopping directly above us before stairs appeared to spiral up towards the island.
“Umm… Thank you, Immana Onee-chan.”
“Ufufufu~ Have fun, my cute little sister~ Come and visit anytime you want~ Big sister here will take care of you~”
She then shifted her tail so that she could lay down on it and watch me lazily.
The Trasif guiding us muttered an “As expected of Young Mistress” under her breath as she led the way up the steps to the Waystone that Immana placed in front of us.
I couldn’t even say anything here since there was nothing I could say in this setting…
The goddess even gave me another wave as we stepped through the portal and we emerged in a clearing where there was a path cutting through it that stretched into the forest again.
The Trasif bowed, “Please take care of yourself, Young Mistress. I wish you a safe journey.”
I thanked her again before she went back through the portal, leaving me alone with my girls.
“Was that…” Tsara asked, looking at where the Trasif had disappeared to.
“One of the maids from my Family? Yes.”
“Hmm… The Nilm Family really lives up to their name.”
Right then, Odeta jumped out in front of our group and thumped her chest proudly.
“Alright, Sister Aster!! This is where I take over to lead you now!! Welcome to my childhood home!!”
I couldn’t help but chuckle at Odeta’s eagerness, “Ehehe~ I guess we would be depending on you this time, Odeta.”
“Wahahaha! Just leave it to me! I’ll take you on a tour around the Amrap territory!”
Hmm… As far as I know, the Amraps and Wrunches are mostly tribal and they have multiple villages that have settled in an area but each village was a different tribe and there was no actual leader leading the entire race.
Now I wonder if Odeta’s sister was also around right now because last I remembered, she was still travelling around the World as a Mercenary.
This should be an interesting visit.
