Chapter 1324: It’s A Leviathan
The monster quickly reared back and I landed on the ground beside where the flames were, finding a rather badly hurt Amrap standing there with her giant hammer held as a crutch in her hands.
She looked up at me and grinned, “Heeeh~ To have Dragonslayer Odeta and Invincible Aster saving me… I must be using up all my life’s luck for this…”
…
What did she just call me?
Oh wait… If I remember correctly, I think that’s one of the names that Odeta was throwing around as my title or something…
So embarrassing…
Ahem…
I immediately got to work healing her while the sounds of something big being pummeled could be heard behind me.
She grinned at me as her wounds closed up, “Heh… I would ask if you need my help but I’m guessing Sister Odeta and yourself would be enough to handle a monster like this?”
I nodded, “It’s fine, we got this. Where did this monster even come from?”
“I believe it either came from the lake or the sea. It’s a Leviathan after all.”
That’s a Leviathan? Interesting…
I tried to use [Screened] on it.
[Name: White Depths Serpent
Race: Leviathan
Stats:
1550 Strength
400 Dexterity
2000 Endurance
1200 Magic
Magic Skills:
Hydromancy (Tier 3), Lumenmancy (Tier 2)]
Hmm… So instead of it being a monster, it’s a Leviathan?
If I’m not wrong, monsters are basically creatures under Hiandoca’s domain. If this is a Leviathan… That means it’s most likely a creature belonging to the god that rules the sea and the depths.
In other words… It should be god Yokmii.
Well… I’m not sure why a Leviathan like this would choose to come up to dry land and rampage around but… Since it’s up here, it can’t complain about being hunted, right?
The Amrap knew that she would be a burden if she stayed so she quickly ran off in the direction of the outpost, allowing us to fight the Leviathan without distractions.
Right then, Eins and Zwei dropped down beside me, releasing Tsara and Ira who were looking up at Odeta soloing the creature.
“Are we not helping her, Lady Aster?” Tsara asked, looking at me with concern.
I shook my head, “I suppose you don’t know this but… Odeta likes to challenge strong opponents to get stronger herself. So fighting it herself is what she would want. I’m just here to support and heal her if needed.”
Ira frowned, “Then what are we doing here?”
I tilted my head at her, “I wasn’t the one who asked you to follow me, by the way… You volunteered yourselves. I was prepared to come here with just Odeta.”
Ira made a face at me but said nothing since what I said was true.
I chuckled, “Ehehe~ If things get out of hand or if more monsters show up, I’ll have to depend on the both of you for support, alright?”
That seemed to make Ira a little happier as she smirked and nodded at me, “Don’t worry, Aster! I’ll definitely deal with them! Way better than this stupid bitch here.”
Tsara scoffed, “Hmph… I’m sure you would. I bet you don’t even know that the creature in front of us is a Leviathan. Goes to show how ignorant you are.”
Ugh… Really? Even now you two are still competing over this?
Leaving the two of them to bicker behind me, I shifted my focus back on the fight in front of me.
Odeta leapt up into the air and dropped back down to smash her fist on top of the Leviathan’s head, the creature reeling back from the blow before it opened its mouth to spit out what looked like water at Odeta.
She spun in the air, avoiding most of the water but a few drops still ended up hitting her.
Smoke appeared on the places the water had hit and I realised that must have been acid.
I immediately conjured up a ball of water and shot it at Odeta, my Amrap lover allowing herself to be doused by the water ball to wash the acid away before I used my healing magic on her.
The snake creature swung its tail at Odeta, trying to whip her into the ground.
Instead, Odeta turned it on the Leviathan as she caught the tail and used it as a pivot to swing herself towards the creature, punching it across the face and smashing it into the ground.
She then dropped down onto the Leviathan’s back and raised her fist, encasing it with lightning before she punched into the Leviathan’s back, penetrating the scales.
The Leviathan let out an earth shaking roar and sprung up into the air, trying its best to shake Odeta off.
When it realised that Odeta was not budging, it curled around itself into a spiral, turning its head to coil itself up into the shape of a compressed spring before it shot itself up into the sky.
I gaped as the supposedly aquatic creature shot itself up into the sky and into the clouds.
Looking at its trajectory, it seems like it was aiming to crash back into the sea and I wondered just how it was going to survive such a fall.
Odeta seemed to also have realised this as she let go of the Leviathan, kicking it one last time to send it spinning towards the sea while she aimed herself towards the forest where I was standing instead.
Knowing that she didn’t have a way to stop her fall, I flapped my wings and shot myself up into the air, snatching Odeta out of the sky.
She hugged me as I caught her in my arms, my Amrap lover laughing merrily.
“Wahahaha!! That was great, Sister Aster!! Did you see that?!”
“Yes, I was watching you the entire time,” I assured her.
“Argh!! Too bad I didn’t get to kill it though!”
Our gaze shifted towards the sea as the Leviathan continued its fall towards the water.
I was expecting it to make a big splash and was worried that the resulting crash would create a tidal wave but… The snake fell straight into the water and passed through the surface like it wasn’t even there.
The surface didn’t even move from the impact and the Leviathan just disappeared underneath the water’s surface.
I realised that it must be using its hydromancy skill to allow it to do that and if Odeta had clung onto its back, the protection most likely wouldn’t have applied to her.
As I descended back down to the forest, I spotted the Leviathan poking its head out and it looked up to eye at me, as though to check where Odeta had gone.
I thought it would continue attacking us but it slowly sank back into the water, disappearing into the darkness of the sea.
I guess it must have realised that being out of its element would put it at a severe disadvantage and the only way it could win was if we fought it under the water, which we had no plans to do to begin with.
Thus, it decided that the best action to take was to just call it a draw and leave.
I descended to where Ira and Tsara were still waiting for me and I realised they haven’t stopped bickering yet.
Odeta laughed at the sight, “Wahahaha! You two act like lovers who are at odds with each other!”
Tsara immediately turned to her, “Please do not jest. I will never be caught in the same bed as her.”
Ira also agreed, “Me? In bed with this stuck up bitch? Absolutely impossible!”
I cleared my throat, “Ok now… Since the danger has passed… I think we should just go back right now.”
Before I could call up Eins and Zwei again, Ira turned to face Tsara with a serious look on her face.
“No… I think we should settle this right now. Me and you… We fight here and the loser gets lost from here.”
Tsara giggled, “Fufu~ Are you sure that is wise of you to say that? The person who has to leave may very well be you, you know? After all… You’re not even my match.”
“We can test this out right now, you bitch.”
“Oh my… How crude of you. If you really want to do that, then I suppose the only thing I can do is oblige~”
“That’s what I want to hear! Now take–”
I lowered Odeta onto her feet before rushing towards them, grabbing both women by the scruff of their collars before flying up into the air.
I heard two yelps of surprise coming from them but I ignored it in favour of flying towards the lake, doing a loop before I dove towards the water and then flaring my wings to slow myself down as I neared it.
I then released my grip on the two of them and let them drop into the water, hearing them cry out as they were splashed into the lake.
Yeah… Both of you should just cool down there before I pick you up again…
