With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods - Chapter 1201: Mist people

Chapter 1201: Mist people
While standing over them, Lin Fan could see that these strange people were struggling against the gravity that he was putting on them.
It seemed that even though they couldn’t move, they didn’t seem to give up either.
It was as if there was something that was driving them forward even though they had already been caught.
“Is it loyalty towards the source of the mist or is it something else?” Lin Fan couldn’t help muttering to himself as he watched them struggle like this.
Other than watching them struggle, Lin Fan also looked closely at the bodies of these people that lived in the mist.
He found that they seemed to have very thin figures, almost as if they were made of skin and bones. At the same time, they also seemed to be much taller than normal people, though that was harder to see because they walked around on four limbs most of the time.
They really seemed like they were a strange kind of beast with the way that they acted, but still they were human.
After watching them for a bit, there was an explosion that suddenly happened.
Lin Fan was pushed back by this explosion and at the same time, the gravity that had been suppressing these mist people suddenly disappeared.
The mist people looked confused and surprised to see this, but they didn’t waste this opportunity that had been given to them as they immediately started running towards the mist.
Lin Fan reached his hand out to try and stop them, but it was already too late as they dived back into the mist.
Once they were in the mist again, there was silence that followed as Lin Fan was the only thing that was left here.
He didn’t move at all as he stood there with a tense and wary look on his face, as he waited to see what these mist people would do once they were back in the mist.
But soon that tense look disappeared and was replaced by a smile.
“It seems like they fell for it.” Lin Fan said to himself with this smile on his face.
It wasn’t something else that had caused that explosion that had suddenly pushed Lin Fan back. He was the one that had caused that explosion himself and he was the one that had released the gravity that had been suppressing the mist people.
Though the way that he did it was to make them think that there was something that saved them.
As for why he did all of this…
“Well, it seems like they’re moving quite fast. Let’s see where they’re going.”
Lin Fan had left something on the mist people that would allow him to keep track of them even if they ran into the mist. It was the same specks of dirt that had released the gravity that had restrained them.
By sensing the faint gravity fields that they released, Lin Fan was able to keep track of the mist people. At the same time, the gravity fields would be so light that the mist people that these specks of dirt were on wouldn’t be able to sense them.
With a wave of his hand, the mist free zone that he created disappeared in an instant.
That was because Lin Fan didn’t need this mist free zone for what he was planning to do.
After he released the mist free zone, there was an illusion spell that appeared around him.
It was only then that Lin Fan started following the traces of the mist people.
…
“Is that a village?” Lin Fan was surprised by what he saw when he found where the mist people had gone.
This was a village for the mist people that was right in the center of the mist.
Or rather, it was a village for the mist people that had been carved out of the mist.
It seemed that whatever the source of the mist was, it recognized the mist people as part of their domain and created a space for these mist people to live in. That was why there was this patch of space where the mist didn’t enter which provided a place for these people to live.
In this space without the mist, there was a perfectly normal patch of land.
Since there was no mist, it meant that the sunlight was able to reach this patch of land normally. Since there was sunlight, it meant that the plants in this place were able to grow as normal plants.
So there was even a field of crops that the mist people seemed to be growing that they used to sustain themselves.
Otherwise, it really would be hard for them to find food in this harsh environment since there were few living beings that were here.
But seeing this raised a question in Lin Fan’s mind.
“If they have sunlight, how did they turn out the way that they did? There’s no way that their skins should be this pale if they’re being exposed to the sun like this.”
After thinking about it, Lin Fan came to the conclusion, “Is it because they are being raised this way by the thing that’s controlling the mist? Does it think that this is the most optimal form for these things?”
Well thinking about the mission that the source of the mist gave these mist people, perhaps that was the case since this form would allow them to move through the mist most optimally.
There was no telling what was the exact reason for them to look like this and that didn’t really matter.
Lin Fan watched and waited for a group of mist people to leave this village.
Once they did, he went forward to meet them.
With the illusions in place, they weren’t able to see him at all.
The mist people never would have imagined that they would be the ones that would be stalked like this.
He silently put specks of dust on these people and let them wander off into the mist before waiting for them to return.
When these mist people came back, he saw that they were holding some things on their shoulders. When he looked closely, he could see that there was blood that was dripping down from those things that they held.
Lin Fan couldn’t help revealing a grim look seeing this, but he didn’t say anything since it was too late for him to do something.
After all, it wasn’t just him alone that was wandering around in these Mist Lands looking for treasures from this place. There were many other adventurers that were wandering around in these Mist Lands and it was common that they would disappear while they were in this place.
It was easy for Lin Fan to tell that the things that these mist people were carrying were already dead, so there was nothing that he could do to save these people.
The only thing that he could do now was figure out what these mist people were and what was the source of this mist.
Once they came out of the mist, Lin Fan moved behind these mist people and located his target.
The one that he was looking for was one that was hiding in the back of the group.
It was clear that this mist person was just a normal member of the mist people tribe, one that was easily overlooked by others. This was the perfect identity for him to do what he wanted to do.
Once he was in place, Lin Fan used a single slash to slit the throat of this mist person.
He already knew just how strong they were based on the mana fluctuations that they released, so he knew that he would be able to easily cut this mist person’s throat. He did it in such a smooth way that this mist person didn’t even have a chance to make a sound.
With his water control, he was able to prevent the blood from splashing and he made sure that the illusion spell was in place so no one saw a single thing.
Then once it was all over, Lin Fan threw the corpse into his Storage Ring.
He knew that this mist person was dead the moment that he was able to throw his body into the Storage Ring since he wouldn’t be able to do so if this mist person was still alive.
Once the mist person had been taken care of, he started walking along with this group.
But with the illusion spell, the only thing that they saw was the same mist person that he had taken down walking with them. It was as if there wasn’t a single thing that had changed during this time.
Lin Fan even made sure to grab the body that the mist person had been holding so that he would fit in.
With just this single move, Lin Fan was able to slip in among the mist people and infiltrate their village.
Following this, he wanted to see what he would be able to find about these mist people.
But there was a part of Lin Fan that was also worried as he followed this group into the mist village.
Since the mist people were raised by the source of the mist, he didn’t know if there was a connection between the mist people and the source of the mist. If there was, that would mean that he would be easily exposed by the source of the mist for killing that one mist person and taking his place.
Once he was exposed, he would be trapped all alone in the middle of this village of mist people…
