With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods - Chapter 1202: Mist Lord Idol

Chapter 1202: Mist Lord Idol
Following this group into the village, Lin Fan was able to have a closer look at how the mist people lived their lives.
In the end, he found that they weren’t any different from normal people.
The village that they lived in was a bit more primitive than villages outside of this Mist Land, but it didn’t seem that primitive compared to those villages either.
At least it seemed like they were at the level of being able to forge iron tools.
Though in reality, most of the tools that they obtained came from the people that they attacked. That was why there was rust on some of these weapons that came from the blood that splashed on them.
Lin Fan didn’t do anything as he followed this group in, but it didn’t take long for this group to suddenly come to a stop.
Once they came to a stop, Lin Fan stopped with them and waited to see what was happening.
“Ugh, ugh.”
As expected, these mist people didn’t speak the language that the others in this world spoke. It seemed like they communicated with a language that they created on their own, but it really wasn’t anything more than a few primitive sounds.
Hearing them speak like this, Lin Fan had no idea what they were doing.
But at least he was able to tell what they were doing based on what the others were doing.
The leader of this group seemed to be telling them to drop the things that they had brought back with them in a pile on the ground.
This was a pile that Lin Fan noticed the moment that he arrived at the village, but he didn’t say anything about it. But now that he was dropping off the corpse that he was carrying in the pile, there was no way for him to ignore it.
The number of people that had been killed by these mist people wasn’t small…
It seemed like they didn’t send just a single group to take care of the adventurers that wandered the Mist Lands. There were most likely other groups that had been sent out to hunt adventurers just like this group did.
“I’ll try to find a way to bring you all back.” That was all that Lin Fan could say to himself as he tossed the corpse onto the pile.
After the corpses had been dropped on the pile, it seemed like the mist people just started wandering off on their own. It seemed that once they had completed their duties, they were free to do whatever they wanted.
Since they were free, Lin Fan started to wander around the village to take a closer look at it.
But as he wandered around, he did receive a few strange looks.
It wasn’t that they didn’t think that he belonged to this place since he was still using the appearance of the mist person that he had replaced to walk around with. It was more that they didn’t want to see him near them.
Just like he had thought, this one mist person that he replaced was someone that was regarded as the runt of this village.
So in a sense, he was someone that wasn’t wanted by anyone that was in this village.
That made it easier for Lin Fan to explore the village the way that he wanted.
But in the end, there wasn’t anything special about this village.
Or at least not in the parts of the village that he could access.
From the way that some of the mist people acted, it was clear which parts of the village were being treated differently than the rest of the village. It was clear that these parts of the village were important to these mist people, so he couldn’t approach without a good reason.
However, after Lin Fan had finished exploring this village, there wasn’t anything left for him to do.
There was only those places that were regarded as special by these mist people that were left for him to explore.
So in the end, there wasn’t anything that Lin Fan could do as he stood in the middle of the village planning out his next move.
Or that was what he thought until he saw that there was something happening with the rest of the mist people.
When he snapped back from his thoughts, he found that the mist people were all moving in a single direction. None of them seemed to care about him standing there, they were all moving towards one of the places that had been considered important to the mist people that he hadn’t explored before.
Since everyone was heading over there, it meant that it was Lin Fan’s chance to take a look at what was there.
Following everyone else, he found that most of the village had already gathered in this place.
This place being a large building that was at the center of the village.
This one building was different from the rest of the buildings that were in the village.
This one building had clearly been built with a lot of effort, making it much bigger and much better built than any of the other buildings.
It was easy to tell how important it was from this.
For Lin Fan who came from the outside world, it even seemed like this place was some kind of temple.
When he approached, Lin Fan couldn’t help knitting his brows seeing what was placed at the entrance of the building.
It was the pile of bodies that he had tossed that corpse in earlier.
It seemed that during this time, they had moved that pile of corpses over as if they had a use for it. Though Lin Fan had no idea what specifically they were using these corpses for.
Once he was here, Lin Fan didn’t actually enter the building.
He saw that most of the mist people were gathered around the building itself and there were only a few that were allowed inside of the building. So all he could do was find a place for himself to stand and try to see what was inside of the building.
After the mist people had gathered for a while, there was someone that came out of the building.
This person was different from all of the rest that had been going in and out of the building as if they had been preparing something. At the same time, the crowd immediately fell silent the moment that this person came out.
Based on the headdress that they had, it was clear that this person was more important than everyone else.
When he looked more closely, he could see that there was something in the hands of this person.
When that person walked by, the mist people suddenly fell down to bow in front of the thing that this person was holding.
It didn’t take long for all of the mist people to be bowing their heads, that was except for Lin Fan who just lowered his body to match their level. Of course he didn’t bow to this thing since he didn’t feel anything towards this thing.
When he looked closely, he found that it was some kind of idol.
“Is this a representation of the thing that is raising these mist people? Is this a representation of the source of the mist?” Lin Fan narrowed his eyes to look at this idol when he saw it.
The priest that had been holding the idol made his way to where the pile of bodies was and then raised the idol above his head before saying something.
“Ugh, ugh, Mist Lord!”
“Mist Lord?” Lin Fan couldn’t help repeating silently to himself when he heard this.
He had to make sure that there wasn’t anything wrong with his ears, but he was certain that this was what he had heard from the priest. It seemed that even though these mist people couldn’t speak the common language of the continent, they were still able to say these words.
Did that mean that the Mist Lord had made sure to teach them these words when it created these mist people?
If so, what did this Mist Lord hope to achieve by doing this?
At the same time, Lin Fan couldn’t help thinking of the alter ego that he had created for himself back in the Kalos Empire. That alter ego of his had also been named Mist Lord because of the power that he had demonstrated.
It seemed that he had somehow stolen someone else’s name and had been using it for himself…
After the priest said this, the rest of the mist people started chanting as well.
“Mist Lord! Mist Lord! Mist Lord!”
Lin Fan had no idea what they were doing by chanting this name, but it seemed that they were quite fervent about it with the way that they chanted. It was almost as if they were trying to summon this Mist Lord in person.
After a long while of chanting like this, the priest finally brought the idol down and placed it in front of the pile of bodies.
Then moving away from the idol, he lowered his head as well as he said, “Ugh, ugh, Mist Lord! Ugh, ugh, ugh!”
Once he said this, the idol seemed to react as a mist suddenly came from it.
That mist spread out around the idol and soon there was this mist figure that suddenly appeared.
Lin Fan couldn’t help deeply knitting his brows when he saw this before lowering his head as if he was bowing.
But in reality, he was just trying to hide his face among the crowd.
There was no guarantee that his illusions would work on this mist figure.
