With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods - Chapter 1204: The one that aspired to be a god

Chapter 1204: The one that aspired to be a god
Once they had finished refining themselves with the mist balls, the mist people suddenly bowed to the altar and said a few words that I didn’t understand.
But the way that they were acting, it was clear that they were thanking the Mist Lord for the blessing that they had been bestowed.
After they finished this, they all stood up and left with excited looks in their eyes.
It was as if they couldn’t wait to get out there to get more sacrifices to the Mist Lord.
It wasn’t just the ones that received the mist balls that left, even the priest didn’t remain in this place.
However, the priest didn’t actually leave this building.
This was something that Lin Fan had missed earlier, but there was a room that was in the corner of this building that the priest went to. Seeing this, Lin Fan just followed behind the priest without a word.
When he saw the room, he knew that there was nothing here for him.
The priest’s room was completely empty other than a few personal items, but they weren’t anything special. It was clear by the way that his room was laid out, he was someone that devoted his entire life to serving the Mist Lord.
Since there was nothing here for him, Lin Fan decided not to waste any time.
The time that he had was limited since it was impossible for him to keep these illusions up forever.
As such, Lin Fan went to check out the other places that the mist people guarded.
He had already confirmed that they wouldn’t be able to see through the illusions that he created, so he was able to go where he wanted without any interference.
But Lin Fan didn’t find what he was looking for.
He thought that since these places were heavily guarded by the mist people, there would be some kind of clue about the Mist Lord in these places. But in the end, he found that this wasn’t the case.
These places were important to the mist people, but they were important to just the mist people.
The mist people had a special culture where they shared everything with each other.
It was all because they devoted everything that they had to serving the Mist Lord that they didn’t think about keeping things to themselves. Though there were some that did think about their own personal comfort compared to others.
In terms of their basic needs, this was something that all of the mist people were guaranteed.
Comfort was dependent on strength.
So the one place that the mist people guarded closely was their food storage.
The second place that Lin Fan found was certainly a surprise since he didn’t expect the mist people to care about this kind of thing so much.
The second place that Lin Fan found was a nursery.
It seemed that all of the young children of the mist people tribe were being taken care of by all of the members of the tribe. They were also carefully guarded by some of the stronger members so that nothing would happen to them.
But Lin Fan had also seen children of a certain age around the village, so he knew that this was only the place where they kept the very young. Once the children had developed to a certain age, that was when they were allowed to leave this place and develop with their parents.
“Well, it is developing these mist people for a reason, so it would make sense that it would try to ensure that they would have everything that they need.” That was the thought that Lin Fan had after seeing this place.
While he still had no idea what the Mist Lord was planning, he could tell that the Mist Lord was planning something.
The key to this plan was the mist people…
The third place that Lin Fan found immediately made him knit his brows into a deep frown.
“Ah…ah…”
That was all that the people that were lying inside of this pit could say as they were completely drained of all energy.
These were living people that had been captured by the mist people.
It seemed that the mist people didn’t sacrifice every single person that they captured and instead kept some of them alive here.
None of their bodies had been touched which showed that the mist people weren’t interested in them for that. However, Lin Fan could tell that there was something different about these people.
The ones that had been sacrificed were those that weren’t as strong.
They were normal D Rank or C Rank Adventurers that were decently strong, but not strong enough to be considered anything special.
The ones that were in this pit were completely different.
From the mana fluctuations that came from them, Lin Fan could tell that these were B Rank and even A Rank Adventurers who could be considered real powerful experts of the Adventurer’s Guild.
So for them to be captured like this…it seemed like he really couldn’t look down on the mist people.
Just a single glance at this place was enough to tell Lin Fan what they were keeping these people here for. That along with the fact that these people hadn’t been sacrificed to the Mist Lord just now.
It was clear that these A and B Rank Adventurers were being kept here as some sort of rare game. They were considered a higher tier of sacrifice compared to the others, so they were being saved for some kind of special occasion.
Lin Fan couldn’t help biting his lip seeing this, but he couldn’t actually do anything about this.
If he were alone, then he would be confident in escaping.
But if he were to expose himself while being burdened by these people, then it would be very hard for him to escape. Especially since they had been strong enough to capture these A and B Rank Adventurers.
Lin Fan knew that he wouldn’t be able to save them if he were to do something, especially with the guards that were here. If he were to make a move, there was no doubt that he would be trapped here.
So Lin Fan could only leave these people behind and escape on his own.
When he was finally out of the territory of the mist people, that was when Lin Fan slowed down and started digesting everything that he had seen.
It was clear that the Mist Lord had some plans for these mist people with the way that it created this village for them. At the same time, there was no reason for the Mist Lord to make them stronger like this unless it benefitted from it.
But the only thing that it seemed to gain was the corpses that were offered to them.
Well that and the cheers that came from the mist people, but it didn’t seem like it would gain that much from it.
“Traces of a local god discovered.”
Lin Fan was completely caught off guard when he heard this before saying, “Why didn’t you say anything before this?”
The system that had been silent the entire time chose this moment to finally say something, but then it fell silent again when Lin Fan asked this question.
Seeing that the system wasn’t going to say anything, Lin Fan changed his question, “What do you mean by local god?”
This time, it seemed like the system was more willing to answer.
“It is something that is trying to ascend to become a god.”
“Become a god?” Lin Fan slowly asked the system after hearing this before a look of deep thought appeared on his face and he thought about what he saw.
This look of thought was filled with confusion at first, but then Lin Fan looked like he was slowly coming to a conclusion.
When one thought of a god, the first thing that they thought of was worshippers.
It was through the power of faith that a god gained their power, so it would also take faith for a god to be formed.
The way that the Mist Lord took care of the mist people, it slowly started to make sense to him. The Mist Lord was doing things in a way where the mist people gained faith in it, so that it could gain their faith to ascend to become a god.
But this method really was a vague method that didn’t seem like it was that likely to succeed.
“There are special things in this world that have a natural affinity for absorbing faith.” That was the clue that the system dropped when Lin Fan was trying to convince himself against this.
Lin Fan couldn’t help narrowing his eyes before saying, “Why not just tell me exactly what the Mist Lord is?”
However, the system didn’t say a single thing.
Something that was trying to become a god, there was no doubt that this thing would be dangerous.
Not to mention that there were those mist people that followed the Mist Lord and would surely protect the Mist Lord if Lin Fan were to do anything.
So if he wanted to take care of this Mist Lord, then he would have to find a way to deal with these mist people. Not to mention that there was no telling what else was hiding inside of these Mist Lands.
Lin Fan had only explored a small part of the Mist Lands so far…
But it didn’t seem like he was willing to give up.
“This is a budding god, where else will I have a chance to find divine energy like this?”
