With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods - Chapter 1238: All manner of death

Chapter 1238: All manner of death
After Lin Fan walked through the trees, he found that he was in the true Forest of Death.
Though this Forest of Death certainly didn’t fit the image that he had in his mind.
Even being trapped by those trees suited the image of the Forest of Death even more.
After all, this place seemed like a normal forest.
No, it was more than just a normal forest.
With the sunlight shining down, with the forest creatures running about, with the lush plants that were around him, it really seemed like something out of a certain type of movie in his past life.
The only thing that was missing was a princess to rally all of the animals behind her, to be one with nature.
It really seemed strange seeing a place like this in the “Forest of Death”, which was why Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling that there was something off about this place. After all, this place didn’t really seem to suit the “death” theme that this forest had.
The problem was that he wasn’t able to use his spiritual sense to find out what was wrong with this place.
It was the same thing that happened where there was something that seemed to be restraining his spiritual sense.
So in the end, it wasn’t just a part of the labyrinth that the trees set up that was restraining his spiritual senses. There was something about this place that was restraining it no matter where he went.
The other thing that Lin Fan tried was his Appraisal Eyes, but he already knew that it wouldn’t work.
The Appraisal Eyes relied on spiritual sense as well and if his spiritual sense was being restrained, it was only natural that the Appraisal Eyes would be restrained as well.
So in the end, Lin Fan was just left standing there without a single idea of what was around him.
It seemed like unless he stepped forward, he wouldn’t be able to see what was waiting ahead of him.
After taking a moment to think it through, Lin Fan started moving forward.
In the end, there was nothing to gain from standing here and thinking about what was ahead of him. Since he had the ability to deal with everything that could come at him, it was better for him to test it out himself.
He really wanted to see what this Forest of Death had to show him.
“It’s hot.” Lin Fan suddenly said to himself after taking a few steps forward.
But then he realized that it wasn’t just hot, it was burning hot. At the same time, it seemed like there was no stopping the increasing temperature around him.
It seemed like at this rate, the air itself would be set on fire.
There was something off about the spot that he was standing, so he immediately used his gravity powers to pull him away. It wasn’t just enough to use his own speed, he had to enhance it.
As he had expected, there were flames that suddenly appeared in the air where he had been standing previously. If he hadn’t moved in time, then he would have been caught up in those flames.
Though it wasn’t as if it would have charred Lin Fan if he were to stand in those flames.
His body was far stronger than the flames that it would have been easy for him to shrug it off.
Still, that didn’t mean that Lin Fan enjoyed standing in the middle of flames.
Looking up, it was easy for him to figure out what it was that had caused these flames. These things had blended into the sky above him and he could only see them now that they were releasing flames like this.
However, it seemed like it was some kind of plant that was blending into the sky.
It seemed like it gathered the light that was above the forest and concentrated it to form a beam of energy that lit up these flames.
It was similar to how a magnifying glass would concentrate light to start a fire. Though the scale of this plant was certainly much bigger than anything that Lin Fan had seen before.
He didn’t have much time to think about it since this wasn’t the only thing that happened.
Even though he had dodged out of the way of the flames with the help of his gravity powers, there were other things that were here that also wanted to kill him.
One of these things was a shower of water.
Though when the water came down, it didn’t come down as water drops. Instead, it came down as spears of water that were big enough to turn him into a human skewer.
With his speed, he was able to dodge out of the way of the water spears.
Though if he didn’t have the speed that he currently had, it would have been hard since the gap between the spears of water was certainly tight. It wasn’t big enough for a human body to make it through.
If he had been standing under it, he would have had to take on the spears of water or else there would be no place to hide.
After evading these spears of water, there seemed to be a lull. However, Lin Fan could tell that this wasn’t the case.
This time, it was something that he couldn’t outrun with his speed alone.
Instead, it was something that was changing about the area around him that he would have to respond to.
That was why with a wave of his hand, there was a ball of wind that appeared around him.
Even though Lin Fan couldn’t see anything, his spiritual sense told him that the composition of the air around him had changed. If he hadn’t done anything, then it would have entered his lungs and his body would have reacted.
From his spiritual sense, Lin Fan could tell that the air was filled with a large amount of carbon dioxide that pushed out all of the oxygen in the area.
He would have died from asphyxiation if not for the bubble of air that he created around himself. He even made sure that it kept flowing around him so that the carbon dioxide couldn’t push its way in.
Looking up, he found that it was this lotus that was releasing the water spears from the holes in its flower.
As for the thing that was releasing carbon dioxide, it was this strange orb plant.
The carbon dioxide was harder to understand since it was the exact reverse of what a plant would normally do, but somehow this thing had evolved in a way that it released carbon dioxide instead of sucking it in.
After escaping from these three plants, it seemed like Lin Fan finally arrived in a place that was relatively safe. It looked like a field that was filled with harmless animals wandering around.
But it turned out that this wasn’t the case at all.
Since these were animals that grew up in this Forest of Death, they were animals that had evolved in ways that were dangerous.
Once Lin Fan approached them, they didn’t hesitate to attack him.
The bunnies that had been jumping around suddenly revealed a sharp fang that looked like it could cut through anything. It seemed like these bunnies wanted to cut Lin Fan in half with how they bit down at him.
From these fangs, Lin Fan could even see sword energy gathering.
These were bunnies that had trained their teeth to the point of using them as swords, so they clearly weren’t normal.
But in the end, they just couldn’t break through the Clear Water barrier that Lin Fan put up around him.
Following this, there were squirrels that threw nuts at him.
When those nuts approached, they suddenly blew up.
The squirrels didn’t even seem to care that the bunnies were still in range as they blew up these nuts without any hesitation.
Even though they were all creatures in the Forest of Death, the only thing that they cared about was bringing death to others. They didn’t care if they themselves were hurt by the attacks at all.
But in the end, these nuts blowing up weren’t enough to break through the Clear Water barrier.
This was a barrier that was made from pure water elemental energy, so naturally it wasn’t that easy to break.
Other than this, there were birds that dropped things that exploded as well, but that was also stopped by the Clear Water barrier.
It seemed like there were all kinds of danger hidden under these harmless looking appearances.
Seeing that they weren’t able to do anything to him, the animals didn’t remain in the same place for long. They looked at each other as if they were wary of each other before running off in different directions.
This was the Forest of Death, with death waiting around every corner.
Even the ones that lived here weren’t exempt from this.
Lin Fan let out a sigh since it seemed like everything was over, but…all of a sudden, the grass under him started to grow around him. It grew higher and higher until it surrounded him.
But even this grass wasn’t able to break through the Clear Water barrier.
At the same time, it actually gave Lin Fan a moment to catch his breath.
After all, with the grass wrapped around him like this, the other things in this forest wouldn’t think that he would have long.
But since the grass couldn’t break through, he had time to think about what just happened.
As expected of a forest with all manners of death.
