With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods - Chapter 1384: Naturallization

Chapter 1384: Naturallization
“Is there anything that you can tell me about the Highoaks?”
The bartender narrowed his eyes to look at the one standing in front of his bar.
After that, he looked down at the gold coin that had been tossed on the bar in front of him.
A moment of silence passed before the bartender reached out to take the gold coin and it soon disappeared. Once it disappeared, the bartender turned around as if he didn’t see anything.
Seeing this, the one that asked the question took out another gold coin that he tossed on the bar again.
But once again, the bartender remained silent.
It was only when a bag of gold coins appeared that the bartender finally turned around to face the one asking the question.
Only before the bartender could take the gold coins, there was a dagger that was stabbed into the bar.
Seeing this dagger, the bartender narrowed his eyes to look at the one that was asking the question. The only response that he received was a glare as if warning him to keep himself in check.
The bartender cleared his throat after seeing this before saying, “So you want to know about the Highoaks, that’s not a normal question…”
He said as if he was hesitating, but his eyes were looking at the bag of gold coins on the table.
Only the one that asked the questions didn’t move the dagger that was still there.
Instead, he just responded, “If you answer my questions, gold isn’t a problem.”
A smile appeared on the bartender’s face the moment that he heard this before he put down the cloth and cup that he was wiping to say, “What will you have? I’m sure that you have a lot to talk about, so you’ll want a drink first.”
The one that asked the question narrowed his eyes before saying, “Just get me a beer.”
The bartender gave a nod before he turned around to prepare this.
But after he finished preparing it, he gave it to one of the waitresses who took it away.
“Just follow her.” The bartender said when he saw his guest narrowing his eyes to look at him.
In the end, the guest followed the waitress to a different room.
It didn’t take long for the bartender to appear as well, but he wasn’t wearing his apron anymore. Instead of looking like a bartender, he looked like some kind of merchant that was ready to make a deal.
“So who introduced you to us?” The bartender asked as he sat down.
The guest didn’t say anything at first, but he eventually took out a card that he placed on the table.
The bartender looked surprised to see this since he knew exactly who this card was from. He just didn’t think that person would introduce someone to him all of a sudden since that person dealt with high end people.
After seeing this card, the bartender couldn’t help narrowing his eyes to look at the guest.
However, he only did this for an instant and stopped right after to go back to being a professional. He knew that there was nothing to gain from acting that way since this was a guest that had a backing.
It wouldn’t benefit him to offend this guest.
Once this matter was settled, the bartender said, “You’re asking about the Highoaks, so I assume that you have an idea of what level of information you’re asking about, right?”
The way that the bartender asked this was as if he was offering the guest a way out.
It wasn’t that the bartender was trying to scare off the guest, this could be considered a fair warning just in case the guest didn’t know what he was getting into.
But the guest just gave a simple nod in response.
Seeing this, the bartender then asked, “What is it that you want to know?”
“Everything.”
That answer caused a bitter smile to appear on the bartender’s face, but the sound of gold hitting the table made his eyes light up once more. After all, there was nothing better than gold when it came to this business.
The bartender stood up after seeing the gold appear and he went over to a drawer before pulling out a few pieces of paper.
Holding these pieces of paper, he came back to the table and spread them out before he started telling the guest all about the Highoaks.
The Highoaks were a family that specialized in creating arrays and had the backing of many magicians because of their professional work. They were a family that had never taken a side and had always remained a neutral party in any matter that came to them.
But there was no one that actually dared to pick a fight with the Highoaks.
After all, they would find themselves at the end of the spells of many magicians if they were to pick a fight with them.
However, all of this was just what was seen on the surface.
In reality, the Highoaks did many things that weren’t revealed to the public.
One of the main things that they did was supply arrays to the black market. It could even be said that they were the biggest suppliers of illegal magic arrays.
Though that was only supplying them.
As for what others did with those arrays that they purchased from the black market, that wasn’t the problem of the Highoak Family.
When the guest heard all of this, he didn’t seem surprised at all.
The look on his face showed that he already knew all of this, which was why he didn’t seem to care about his news.
“As expected, it seems like he really does have a backing and has researched the Highoaks before. Only why would he ask us about the Highoaks now?” The bartender couldn’t help wondering about this guest of his.
It was only natural that the bartender would think this way since he was the head of the Crow Society. They were the number one information broker of this entire country and it was in their nature to worry about these things.
Or else they wouldn’t have become the number one information broker to begin with.
After a moment of silence, the guest suddenly asked, “What about the history of the Highoaks? Where did their family come from?”
A strange look appeared on the face of the bartender since this wasn’t a question that he had expected to hear. He had to take a look at his notes to see if he could find anything, but then he excused himself to head to a different room.
This kind of information wasn’t the kind of information that wasn’t normally requested, so it wasn’t the kind of information that they had on hand.
It took a while, but the bartender came back with the information that the guest was looking for.
It was just that it was quite disappointing.
“The ancestor of the Highoaks was a wanderer that came to this city a long time ago and settled here.”
The answer was very simple and it didn’t seem like there was anything wrong with it.
“Can you show me a sample of an array that the Highoaks have made?”
The bartender looked at the guest with a strange look when he heard this request.
He didn’t really know what the guest was thinking, but this wasn’t that hard of a request since there were all kinds of arrays that the Highoaks made. There were even a few of them that were currently inside of the bar.
So he went over to grab one and showed it to the guest.
Though as the guest just silently looked at the array, it caused an awkward silence to fill the air.
The bartender didn’t really know what the guest was doing, but he could tell that he was doing something.
“So it seems like they’ve naturalized themselves.” Lin Fan thought to himself as he stared at this array.
After searching for a while through the Laver Empire’s information network, he had found clues pointing to this city. In particular, he heard about the Highoak Family and had seen examples of their arrays.
Seeing them now, he was even more certain that this was what he had expected.
Between the ancestor being a wanderer and the arrays that they created, it was clear that these were arrays that had been formed with knowledge from the cultivation continent.
It was just that there was still something that confused Lin Fan.
“Just how did they manage to naturalize themselves? After all, spiritual energy and mana are completely different. Even if they had stumbled to this place, it isn’t as if they would have been able to achieve something like this that easily. They wouldn’t be able to regain their power unless they figured out how to convert it…”
It was clear that they had been able to do so since they had been able to create these arrays.
No matter how Lin Fan looked at it, he had to approach the Highoak Family and learn more about them if he wanted to figure this out.
In the end, he tossed the bag of gold to the bartender and picked up the array that he was shown.
The bartender didn’t stop him since the amount of gold he gave was more than enough for the information and the array that he had shown him.
It was just that the bartender still couldn’t help feeling that there was something off about this guest of his…
“Perhaps I should sell this information back to the Highoaks?”
