“Did you hear about the mysterious host for this banquet?”

“How could anyone not have heard about them?”

“It’s said that they’re a noble that was abandoned by their family and came all the way here to avoid them.”

“I’ve heard that it was a merchant that built themselves up from nothing and was settling down in our city.”

“What are you talking about? They’re clearly some kind of magician that’s taken residence in our city? Don’t you see all of the magic items and arrays that are in this place?”

The identity of the host for this banquet was one that everyone discussed since no one had any clue who it was. However, they all knew that this banquet was the place to be since it was one that all of the important people of the city attended.

It wasn’t just the city lord or the nobles that were here, even the Highoak Family was in attendance at this banquet.

The Highoak Family was a family that normally ignored all invitations that they received because they had their reputation of being a neutral party to uphold. So normally they wouldn’t attend unless it was something of the utmost importance and they had to be there.

For the Highoak Family to actually attend this banquet, it went to show just how important this was to them.

It also meant that this was one of the rare chances that they had to interact with the Highoak Family, a family that they normally wouldn’t even have the chance to see.

For many that were in attendance, this was a large matter for them.

But nothing was more important to them than the identity of the host since they were the ones that had moved the Highoak Family to attend.

When the host appeared, many were not disappointed.

“He…he…he’s so handsome!”

When Lin Fan heard the whispers and some cries that weren’t exactly whispers, he couldn’t help giving a secret bitter laugh.

He already knew that he had a handsome face, this was something that he had inherited from the previous owner of this body. It was just that when they acted like this, it really was a bit awkward for him.

With a cough, Lin Fan gathered himself and said, “Thank you everyone for attending this banquet. I hope that all of you will enjoy yourselves and will not forget about tonight anytime soon.”

It was a very simple introduction, but he knew that most of them weren’t even listening to him. Rather, he could see the way that they were all staring at him and that did make him feel a bit uncomfortable.

In the end, Lin Fan went to meet with the group from the Highoak Family first.

After all, they were the main guests and the ones that he wanted to meet the most.

When he came over, he took a closer look at this group.

There were only two of them that had come, a young man and a young woman.

He could see the way that the young woman was staring at him, it was the same as how the rest of the young girls in this banquet hall were staring at him.

Lin Fan did have the idea of using that handsome face of his to get what he wanted since he wasn’t above using a honeytrap if it was necessary. Though he could tell that this young girl wasn’t the one that was actually in charge.

The one that was in charge was the young man with the way that he held himself.

Though he did seem to give in to some of the requests of the young girl.

It was clear that this was his younger sister and he was taking care of her in a way that an older brother would. But still that didn’t mean that the young girl was the one that was in charge.

“Mr Ralot, it truly is an honour to be invited to your banquet.”

When he came over, the young man was the one that approached and greeted him first.

But Lin Fan just calmly said, “I’m honoured that the Highoak Family was willing to accept my invitation in the first place. But I don’t think that we’ve met before, so I’m not sure how to address this gentleman.”

Giving a bow with one hand, the young man said, “I am Ashton Highoak.”

Then when he felt a poke from his side that came from the young girl, he introduced her as well, “This is my little sister, Penelope Highoak.”

As soon as she had been introduced, the young girl called Penelope came forward and gave a proper curtsy before saying, “Mr Ralot, I’ve long heard of your fame and have been hoping to meet you for a while. May I ask what kind of hobbies you have?”

The way that she acted made her look like a proper lady, but Lin Fan could hear the tone of her voice. It was clear what she was trying to do, it was just that Lin Fan didn’t have the time for that right now.

“Miss Penelope, I’m sorry but now isn’t the proper time for this. I have other guests that I have to attend to as well.” Lin Fan said in a curt manner, but he did have a polite tone to his voice so it wasn’t as if the two of them could say anything.

Penelope looked disappointed when she heard this, but she didn’t say anything since she could see the others that were waiting around them.

He was the host and he had the responsibility to greet his guests, so it wasn’t as if she could keep holding him like this even if there were more things that she wanted to ask.

In the end, Lin Fan turned back to Ashton before moving closer and whispering something in his ear.

When Ashton heard this, he couldn’t help slightly narrowing his eyes to look at Lin Fan before revealing a smile and saying, “We look forward to your visit, Mr Ralot.”

With that, Lin Fan left the two of them alone and started greeting the other guests.

Lin Fan wasn’t in a rush since he knew that it wouldn’t be simple approaching the Highoaks. In fact, this gave him far more of an advantage than other methods would have if he had used them.

After all, this gave him the negotiating power when it came to dealing with the Highoak Family.

Though it did mean that Lin Fan had to deal with all of the people that had come to the banquet.

This plan wasn’t one that Lin Fan had come up with, this was a plan that Cheongryong had proposed. After all, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan had the capability of making this plan possible in the first place.

Lin Fan might have some wealth on the magic continent, but it was far from being enough to rent out this large manor and invite everyone to this banquet. It was only because of the false identity that the Laver Empire’s intelligence network prepared for him that he was able to pull this off.

But since it worked, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan was against this.

It was just that he would have to suffer through dealing with all of these people that had been drawn in as a cover.

The ones that were naturally the most annoying were the nobles that had been invited since they were nobles. They weren’t the kinds of nobles that cared about their people, they were the kinds of nobles that only cared about themselves which made them harder to deal with.

The only reason that they had come was because they were here to build a relationship with Lin Fan

After all, the identity that he was using was a royal that had come to this place to hide after a scandal. So for these people, they naturally wanted to get closer to him so they could use him for their own designs.

For a young and handsome man like this, it meant that the best way to approach him was naturally to use the honeypot method.

Which meant that he had to deal with all kinds of young girls trying to approach him.

The only thing that he was interested in was the Highoak Family.

At the same time, Lin Fan had sensed some other presence during this time.

He knew that it was Baekho who was hiding in the shadows and taking pictures of him.

There was no doubt that this was something that Haku had ordered.

They were taking pictures of him with these other girls so that she could show them to Rokuko.

This was also part of the reason that they went with this method in the first place.
