With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods - Chapter 1388: Bigger than it seems

Chapter 1388: Bigger than it seems
When he left the Highoak Family Manor, he was sent off with wide smiles.
It wasn’t strange that they treated him like this since he had just become one of their biggest clients.
Lin Fan, or rather the Laver Empire’s information network had a good idea of just how much money went through the Highoak Family. That was why it was easy for them to estimate how much it would take for Lin Fan to become one of their best customers.
All Lin Fan had to do was repeat the order that he received from them to the Highoak Family, along with the deposit that he had brought along.
When he took out the deposit, there was a moment where Daniel had tried to deny this. However, Lin Fan could clearly see the greed that was in his eyes when the deposit had been taken out.
As well, there was this trace of wariness that had appeared while they had been discussing the whole thing.
Even if they knew his fake identity, they were still being shrewd businessmen.
It was no wonder the Highoaks had been able to reach where they were now.
In fact, it even seemed like they wanted him to marry their daughter even more.
After all, they knew what kind of arrays they were making for Lin Fan. Since they knew what kind of arrays they were making for him, it wasn’t hard for them to guess what kind of things he would be using those arrays for.
Which was why they were trying to get closer to him by offering him Penelope, who he wasn’t interested in at all.
After leaving the Highoak Family Manor, the first thing that Lin Fan did was go meet with the contacts from the Laver Empire.
“Did you set up everything?”
Lin Fan didn’t even get to say anything before he was asked this question.
It was clear what they were planning to do, but it seemed like they were in a rush to do it.
“It’s all set up.” Lin Fan answered as soon as he heard this, but he looked at them as if he was asking them what the rush was.
Cheongryong explained, “The net has been set, but we need information to know what to close the net around.”
After saying this, she showed him the plan that they had come up with.
Lin Fan was once again caught off guard when he saw this.
After all, the plan that they had come up with was much bigger than he thought.
He had left this matter to them since they were the ones that knew the Laver Empire’s information the best. As such, they were certainly more qualified to direct that information network compared to him.
Only the scale of this entire thing was beyond what he imagined.
It seemed like Lin Fan had completely underestimated the power of the Laver Empire’s information network.
This was something that he shouldn’t have done.
There was a reason why the Laver Empire had become one of the biggest empires. It wasn’t as if they relied purely on brute strength, intelligence was one of the key factors that decided one’s strength.
With everything that they were doing, it was obvious that there was nowhere for the Highoak Family to run.
Only there was a bit of a problem…
“How am I going to interrogate them for the information that I want?” Lin Fan couldn’t help thinking to himself when he saw this.
With the plan that they had come up with, there was no doubt in his mind that the Laver Empire would be able to capture all of the Highoaks. Once that happened, it would mean that the Laver Empire would be in full control of the Highoaks since they would be in their captivity.
With the Highoaks in the hands of the Laver Empire, it would mean that he wouldn’t get a chance to be alone with them and ask them some more private matters about the Dao Sect.
Though even if he were to find some way to do this during the plan, it wasn’t as if they would keep silent about this.
So no matter how Lin Fan looked at it, it seemed like the Laver Empire was cutting him off from this interrogation no matter how he looked at it.
It really didn’t seem like they wanted to let him anywhere near the Highoak Family without them present.
He didn’t think that he had done anything that would make them suspicious, but it was clear that this wasn’t the case as they were cutting him off like this.
But it wasn’t as if Lin Fan could do anything.
In the end, the Laver Empire’s network was just too big for him to do anything against. Even if he had some kind of backing on this magic continent, it wasn’t as if that would be enough to do anything to the Laver Empire.
The only thing that Lin Fan could do was wait to see what would happen.
Though there were also a few things that Lin Fan had to do.
After all, this plan depended on him approaching the Highoak Family in the first place.
…
“This is the place that we’ve prepared for them to work on the arrays.”
Lin Fan had a strange look on his face when he was led to this place.
This was clearly not a small space and preparing something like this required a lot of resources. However, the Laver Empire’s intelligence network had been able to prepare something like this in just two days.
This was a place that they had already owned a long time ago too since Lin Fan could see it on the deed that he was handed.
All of the things that they prepared were assets that they had prepared a long time ago.
That was more than enough to show just how far the grasps of the Laver Empire’s intelligence network reached. They had all of these assets that they could use whenever they wanted, this without a doubt would require a large initial investment.
Lin Fan was once again forced to re-evaluate just how much power the Laver Empire had.
Since this place had been prepared, the only thing that was left to do was to call the Highoak Family here for what they were supposed to do.
When the Highoak Family arrived, there was a face that Lin Fan recognized that made a bitter smile appear on his face once more.
It seemed like the Highoak Family just would not drop this matter since they kept sending this person to see him. It seemed like as long as it was possible, they would push for this to happen.
Lin Fan didn’t say anything about this since in the end, she was still a Highoak.
This wasn’t something that could be faked, the level of skill that she possessed was something that had been trained into her since she was young. It was also the reason that they were reassured in sending Penelope alone to take care of this matter.
The only thing that Lin Fan had to do was try to avoid her as much as possible.
When she wasn’t distracted by him, there really was nothing to complain about when it came to her work.
In fact, Lin Fan even secretly observed her while she worked in hopes that he would be able to find out the secrets that the Highoaks had been hiding.
However, she had also been taught how to hide this.
Though it was mainly because they had already manufactured most of the parts before coming here to set things up. After all, there wasn’t really anything to observe if the parts of the array were created beforehand.
Even if he observed the installation, it really wasn’t as if he would be able to see through the secrets of this array.
So the only thing that Lin Fan could do was wait for the Laver Empire’s intelligence network to make their move.
Other than that…
“It seems like there’s something off with this part of the array? Can you take a closer look?”
The workers from the Highoak Family immediately came over to take a look at the part that Lin Fan pointed out, but their expressions quickly changed when they saw it.
After all, they knew that there was nothing wrong with this part that Lin Fan had pointed out.
Seeing the expressions on their faces, Lin Fan said, “From what I’ve read about arrays, this part should look like…”
Of course, what he was saying was nothing more than BS that he had pulled out of nowhere. The only reason that he was doing this was to stall the workers from the Highoak Family.
The problem was that there was an unforeseen consequence because of this.
Since he was the one that was complaining, they sent Penelope over to deal with him.
She was certainly a professional as she explained everything that he pointed out and calmed him down with her words, it was just that some of the things that she did couldn’t be considered professional.
When she explained things to him, there were a few gestures from her that couldn’t be considered professional at all.
Of course, Penelope did all of this on purpose.
The reason that she came here was because she had been sent here to seduce him.
As such, the things that she did were all done in the name of seducing him.
All Lin Fan could do was endure this since his job was also to stall them.
