With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods - Chapter 1390: Being watched

Chapter 1390: Being watched
“Are you ready to talk to them?”
Lin Fan was surprised when Cheongryong asked him this.
He knew exactly what she was referring to, it was just that he didn’t expect it to come this soon.
He thought that it would take a while before he would be allowed to see the Highoak Family, but now that had been proven wrong.
Lin Fan couldn’t help looking at Cheongryong and Baekho with strange looks after hearing this. He was trying to figure out just what their end game was that they would give him this time that easily.
Only when he looked at them like this, Cheongryong just simply said, “Do you not want to talk to them? If that’s the case, then forget it.”
A bitter smile appeared on Lin Fan’s face before he calmly said, “I’ll meet them.”
Cheongryong didn’t think too much about it and simply dropped this matter.
Though it was hard to miss the teasing smile that was on Baekho’s face when Lin Fan said this. The way that he looked at him was as if he was making sure that Lin Fan saw that look on his face.
Seeing this did make Lin Fan feel a bit bitter, but he didn’t say anything.
He knew that giving a reaction was exactly what Baekho wanted and it would just make things worse.
As expected, Baekho seemed to lose interest when he saw that he wasn’t getting a reaction out of Lin Fan. It was like when someone lost interest in a toy with how he turned away.
Though to think of Lin Fan as a toy was certainly looking down on him a bit.
Since there was nothing interesting for Baekho, he didn’t waste any time bringing Lin Fan to see the Highoaks that were in prison.
Of course, this wasn’t a normal prison.
The Laver Empire took all precautions when building a place to hold the Highoak Family, which meant that they created a dungeon to hold them. After all, there was nothing that they could control more and was more secure than a dungeon.
It was only a dungeon that gave them complete control over where they held the Highoaks.
This dungeon was also different from the one that had been used to hold the ones from the four righteous sects. After all, that was a dungeon that had been designed and created by Lin Fan.
This time, it was a dungeon that was created by the Laver Empire since these Highoaks had been living longer on the magic continent for a long time now. There was no one better to create a dungeon that would hold those from the magic continent than Haku who knew all about it.
But there was one thing that she did add that was different.
She took a few things from the dungeon that Lin Fan had helped create. These were things that would be useful in restraining those from the cultivation continent.
After all, there were signs that showed that the Highoaks were related to the Dao Sect that came from the cultivation continent. In that case, there was no harm in adding some defenses against any tricks from the cultivation continent.
Even if they naturalized and had been living on the magic continent for a long time, there was no telling what kind of tricks would be up their sleeves. They might even have things that no one had seen before, so it was best to be prepared.
In fact, there were many people that were assigned to guard this dungeon as well.
These were beastmen that were a part of the squad that Cheongryong led, which meant that they were elite warriors of the Laver Empire.
This was the kind of treatment that normal prisoners would never receive, so it could be said that the Highoak Family was getting special treatment.
It was just that the moment that Lin Fan stepped into this dungeon, he could feel something strange looming over him. It was a sensation that he couldn’t shake no matter how he tried.
Though it wasn’t as if he didn’t know why he felt this sensation.
It was clear that there was some kind of spell that had been set up here that would watch his every move.
With how intense this sensation was on him, he could tell that this spell wasn’t just any normal spell. There was no doubt that this was a very special spell that the Laver Empire side had used on this place.
The excuse would be that they were being careful not to let any member of the Highoak Family escape, but Lin Fan knew that there was more to this story.
He knew that they had done all of this so that he wouldn’t be able to have a single moment alone with the Highoaks. They had done this so that he would have no choice but to spill what he was hiding to them.
Lin Fan knew that this was going to happen, but he thought that he would have a chance to make some kind of play that would fool them.
He never expected things to end like this.
“So how am I supposed to ask them about the ruins?” Lin Fan thought to himself as he tried to figure out what he would say to the Highoaks that he would be interrogating.
In the end, he didn’t get to figure out what he was going to say before arriving at the place where they were being held.
Only before meeting the Highoaks, there was still something else that Lin Fan had to do first.
It wasn’t as if he could just meet them the way that he was currently dressed.
Which was why he took out an outfit that he quickly put on before heading in.
When he took out this outfit, there were strange looks that were cast in his direction. This was all because they recognized the outfit that he took out and there were certain memories that they had associated with this outfit.
Baekho was the only one that was smiling when he saw this which caused Lin Fan to reveal a bitter smile under his mask.
Once he had changed, Lin Fan entered the cell and stood in front of the ones inside.
These were faces that were familiar to him since these were the members of the Highoak Family that he had been dealing with most regularly. Only the state that they were currently in was completely different from the last time that he met them.
The last time that they met, they looked like a rich family from head to toe.
Now, they looked like they didn’t own a single thing with how they were covered in filth.
At the same time, the wounds all over their bodies showed that they had already been tortured to a certain extent.
However, Lin Fan could tell from the look in their eyes that they hadn’t given up anything yet. There was still that defiant look that was in their eyes that showed that there was still something up their sleeves.
Once Lin Fan came in, they all turned to look at him.
However, it didn’t seem like they were planning on saying anything with the way that they looked at him. It seemed like they were waiting for him to make the first move.
After a moment of silence, Lin Fan finally said, “Just tell us what we want to know already and we’ll be done with all of this.”
“Ha, ha, ha.” Daniel broke out in laughter when he heard this before he was followed by the other members of the Highoak Family.
It was as if there was nothing that would be able to faze them with how they laughed in the face of all of this. It was as if they knew that there was something that would be able to save them.
Lin Fan narrowed his eyes to look at them before saying, “Is this how members of the Dao Sect act?”
As soon as he said this, there was a reaction that came from the members of the Highoak Family.
All of them looked at Lin Fan as if he had spoken in a different language.
They looked at him as if he was some kind of alien.
But then they played it off as if they didn’t hear anything.
Only when they had this kind of reaction, it really was impossible for them to play it off like this. It was clear that they recognized the term Dao Sect and that they had a connection to it.
Now it was about finding out that connection.
After another moment of silence, Lin Fan said, “I never thought that I would find the remnants of the Dao Sect here. I thought that only the four righteous sects would be the only remnants left of the Dao Sect.”
At this, the members of the Highoak Family reacted.
But it was clear that they didn’t know what Lin Fan was talking about.
It seemed that the Highoak Family didn’t know about the situation of the cultivation continent at all.
This wasn’t strange since he had seen that most of the countries on the magic continent didn’t know anything about this. After all, this was a secret that was kept even among the Five Great Sects.
If Lin Fan hadn’t told Haku and the Laver Empire, they wouldn’t have known about it either.
“There are others?” Daniel slowly asked in the end.
Lin Fan just gave a simple nod before saying, “Now, do you feel like talking?”
