With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods - Chapter 1393: The real secret

Chapter 1393: The real secret
After they had collected everything in the secret room, it didn’t feel like there was anything else that was left for them to do.
Which was why Lin Fan suddenly said, “I’m going out for a bit.”
Cheongryong and Baekho immediately narrowed their eyes when they heard this and looked at Lin Fan as if they were scrutinizing him to see what he was really thinking.
Only when they saw Lin Fan look back at them with a calm look on his face, it wasn’t as if there was anything that they could say.
If they were to keep insisting, then that would be like they were restricting his freedoms completely.
Doing that would be the same as treating him as some kind of criminal, which he certainly wasn’t. After all, he was supposed to be working with the Laver Empire and was technically in charge of this operation.
There was only so far that they could go without it being considered crossing a line.
After a moment of silence, Cheongryong and Baekho suddenly changed their expressions.
It was as if they had accepted what was happening, but there was something else that was in their eyes as they looked at Lin Fan.
They were being blunt with the way that they were looking at him.
It was as if they were directly telling him not to push things too far and that if he found anything, he should share it with them.
Though it wasn’t as if Lin Fan was going to confirm anything even when they were being blunt with him like this.
Cheongryong and Baekho just left on their own and left Lin Fan to do what he wanted to do. They had offered guards for him, but he declined them since he didn’t want anyone following him.
As for whether they would post anyone to follow him in secret…
This wasn’t something that Lin Fan could control, but he did make sure to add one last thing before leaving.
“I just want some private time. I think that I’m entitled to this.”
Though Cheongryong and Baekho didn’t show it on their faces, there was this trace of awkwardness that flashed in their eyes. They knew exactly what Lin Fan was referring to, which made things awkward for them.
It wasn’t as if they wanted to do these things, they just did what was necessary since it was what they had been ordered to do.
Once Lin Fan left Cheongryong and Baekho behind, he didn’t actually do anything that would have been considered suspicious as he went off to one of the bars in this city.
It seemed like he really was just taking some time to himself to relax.
Only this place was where he had put a secret something to help him get away.
It was something that Lin Fan had been planning for a long time and he knew that he would only be able to do this once. After using it once, he wouldn’t be able to fool them again with the same trick.
During this time, Lin Fan had been testing a specific array against those that had been assigned to watch over him. Which was why he knew that this would work against them now.
This was an array that he had been using for a while now and one that he had gotten familiar with because of the things he did with the Laver Empire.
It was the illusion array that he had stolen from the four righteous sects, but it was also a bit different since he had taken a bit of everything from each of those arrays. He had learned quite a bit from using them to capture those elders earlier.
With this, Lin Fan was able to sneak out of the bar that he had entered quite easily.
After leaving the bar, Lin Fan didn’t hesitate to leave the city.
As for why he was heading out of the city to the wilderness, it was because that was where the clues led him.
When he had been in that secret room with Cheongryong and Baekho, he had used his Appraisal Eyes to find some clues about where to go.
From these clues, he knew that the Highoak Family had a hidden place that was out in the forest. It was actually a connection to the talisman that he had handed over to Cheongryong and Baekho.
If it wasn’t for that, he really wouldn’t have known that the source of the power inside of the talisman was hidden in the forest like this.
So that was how Lin Fan was able to find this place that really didn’t seem to have anything here.
Though when he arrived, he took out the same jade as before.
As soon as this jade came out, there was a reaction that came from one of the trees.
“Click.”
It sounded like there was some kind of mechanism that was activated because the power inside the jade had been detected by something that was in the tree.
After the clicking sound rang out, the tree itself started to turn.
This wasn’t the kind of mechanism that was found on the magic continent, this was the kind of mechanism that Lin Fan had seen before on the cultivation continent. This was the kind of mechanism that those that worked with puppets would use.
As expected of the Dao Sect, it was the head of the righteous sects for a reason.
All of the techniques that the righteous sects possessed were gathered in the Dao Sect, so it was only natural that things like this would be passed down to the Highoak Family.
Lin Fan couldn’t help wondering just how much the Highoak Family was hiding in this place.
After the tree turned, there was this staircase that appeared in the ground.
Lin Fan had no hesitation as he went down into the hidden chamber, but he was quickly disappointed by what he saw.
There was a chamber that was here, but there was also another door that was waiting for him. It seemed that this door was completely different from the other mechanism that was used to enter this place.
When he raised the jade, he found that there was no reaction that came from the door.
At the same time, he could see that there was something special at the center of the door.
There was an indent that seemed to indicate that something was required to open this door.
When he looked carefully, Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling that this indent was familiar.
But before focusing on the door, he started looking around this room in hopes of finding something. It wasn’t as if this room was completely empty, there were things in this room as well that were clearly related to the Dao Sect.
When he read through the material that was here, he found that the Highoak Family had been searching for something the entire time. All of these things were reports from different parts of the continent that they had sent their people to.
From the reports, it seemed like they had been looking for clues the entire time as they went across the continent.
Only none of these reports had anything positive in them.
Even though they had spent all that money to build this network of people that had gone all over the continent, they hadn’t reported back anything that could be considered useful.
It really seemed like whatever they had been looking for had been lost to them.
“It’s no wonder they could never find it.” Lin Fan muttered to himself as he read the reports.
After all, the reports did have a detailed description of the thing that they had been looking for all this time. The moment that Lin Fan read that description, he had already thought of something in his possession.
At the same time, he could see from the indent in the door just what it was that they were looking for.
From all of these clues, it was very easy to put all of the pieces together and draw a conclusion.
“It seems like they were locked out of their own inheritance, that’s why they were so desperate.”
It only made sense that they would be locked out since the thing that they were looking for had been held by the Laver Empire the entire time.
In fact, it would have been strange if they had been able to get it from the Laver Empire. Especially with how much Haku valued this thing that she had stored it away in a special place for so long.
It was the Dao Sect token that she had given Lin Fan.
With this thing, Lin Fan knew that he would be able to open this door.
Only he wasn’t in a rush to open it.
Other than reports on failing to find the token, there were also other pieces of paper that were scattered around in this place. All of them seemed to have different kinds of information on them.
From these pieces of paper, Lin Fan could tell that the Highoak Family had been studying all kinds of things related to cultivation.
“So even they don’t know what is behind this thing…” Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling amused after reading through all of these different reports.
After seeing that there was nothing else that he could gain from this place, he decided that he would risk it all and open this door.
After all, there was no telling what would happen and he didn’t really have much time before they found that he was missing.
So it was now or never.
