With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods - Chapter 1394: A map

Chapter 1394: A map
Lin Fan took out the token that he had been keeping on him this entire time.
The last time that he brought the token back to the cultivation continent, it had caused a large earthquake across the entire continent. But at the same time, it had been the cause of the Dao Sect’s ruins revealing themselves.
So it could be said that this was the thing that had sent him here in the first place.
As such, it wasn’t as if he could just let anyone have this thing and he had been keeping it safe on his person the entire time.
There was no telling if he would need this token when he entered the ruins.
Even now, he needed it to open this inheritance that the Highoak Family possessed.
Lin Fan couldn’t help wondering just what the real identity of this token was.
But before he put it in, he suddenly realized something.
“This thing was found on this continent in the first place, so it could be said that it came from the ancestor of the Highoak Family. The only real question is how they had lost it in the first place? Was it because they gave it away on purpose, or did they lose it accidentally?”
That thought only remained in his head for a bit before he tossed it out and focused on the door in front of him once more.
It didn’t matter how they had lost this token.
Their misfortune was his fortune and he would fully capitalize on it.
With this thought, he put the token inside of the indent on the door.
The moment that the token entered that indent, it was as if there was something that was activated with the door as there was this surge of energy that came from it.
As a cultivator, Lin Fan naturally recognized the energy fluctuations that came from it. In fact, he would have been a disgrace to his fellow cultivators if he couldn’t recognize it.
It was the fluctuation that came from spiritual energy.
From the way that the fluctuations were released, Lin Fan could tell that there was this special array that was on the door. It was an array that had been used as some kind of defensive mechanism.
If someone had tried to force the door open without using the token, then that array would have been activated.
From his experience, he could tell that the upper limit of this array was similar to the aura that his masters released. Which meant that this array would have been able to release the power of a Transcendence Realm Cultivator.
As expected of something that came from the Dao Sect, the greatest righteous sect in the past.
It was also no wonder why the Highoaks had never attempted to forcefully open this door before now. They knew just how powerful the defenses of this thing were, so they knew that it would be foolish to attempt something like this.
Once those fluctuations disappeared, the door slowly opened on its own.
When it was fully opened, there was this small room that was revealed.
There wasn’t actually much that was in this room, which was a bit disappointing considering how powerful the defenses of this place were. It didn’t really seem proportional to what was being stored here.
Though it wasn’t as if it was Lin Fan’s place to judge on whether it was worth it or not since he didn’t know what was even in this place. Even if it was small and it didn’t seem impressive, that didn’t mean that whatever was here wasn’t special.
But before walking in, the first thing that Lin Fan did was send a stone inside.
This was a special stone that was created by the power of one of the pure elemental energy items that he had obtained from the magic continent.
The specialty of this thing was how hard it was and the defenses that came with this.
He had no idea if there were any other defenses that were placed inside of the room, so he didn’t let his guard down.
Only after he tossed that stone into the room, all that happened was that it landed on the ground with a thud. There was no reaction that came from the inside of the room, as if there was nothing there.
But even then, Lin Fan waited a bit before moving forward.
When he stepped through the door, he had also been prepared to jump back just in case anything happened.
“Have I watched too many movies?” Lin Fan couldn’t help muttering to himself in an embarrassed voice when nothing happened.
It wasn’t as if it was a bad thing to be cautious, but it would have been embarrassing if there was someone here watching him. At the same time, this wouldn’t have made sense to begin with.
If a person had opened this door with the token, then it was unlikely that they were an intruder. So there really was no need to put more defense in this place, or else it would have been annoying to deal with them every time a person came in here.
When he looked closely, he could see that this place was just a normal room that seemed to be storing a few things.
This wasn’t a special place that one visited once or twice, this was a secret room that would have been a place that would have been visited often.
It wouldn’t have even been strange if people lived here in the past with how the furniture was arranged. It really seemed like this was someone’s room with how it was decorated.
“Then they really did lose the key by accident?” Lin Fan couldn’t help thinking to himself when he saw this.
If they hadn’t lost it by accident, then it wouldn’t make sense that the room inside would still look like this.
But if that was the case, Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling confused why the Highoak Family seemed so desperate to find the token that was the key to this place. After all, this place didn’t seem to have the all powerful things that the Highoaks would have wanted.
They should have already received the full inheritance of the Dao Sect…
When he looked around this place a bit more, he found that this was even more the case.
The only things that were in this place were just a few scattered reports that seemed to be from a long time ago. It had information that was so old that Lin Fan really couldn’t pinpoint exactly where it was from.
The only thing that he was certain of was that this was information from the magic continent since he recognized some places. So that meant that the Highoaks had used this place as a hidden room a long time ago.
It was just that after they lost the token, they had been forced to use the room outside instead.
The more that he searched, the more confused he was.
That was until he found something that caught his attention.
This thing caught his attention because he recognized the shape of this thing.
It was another indent that was on the side of a box that was inside of this place.
But the most important thing was that this indent was the shape of the token that had been used to open the door to this place.
It was a good thing that the token had popped out after the door opened and it didn’t seem like the door was going to close behind him after he walked in.
So Lin Fan took out the token once more and brought it towards the box.
The moment that it came near the box, Lin Fan could feel the reaction that came from both the token and the box as if they recognized each other.
This was a clear sign of what was to come, so he didn’t hesitate to slot that token into the indent.
But the moment that the token entered the indent, Lin Fan couldn’t help knitting his brows.
That was because the fluctuations that came from the box were anything but normal.
It was even on the same level as the fluctuations that were on the door when he slotted that token in. Which meant that there was an array that was on the same level as the one on the door.
Just what was inside of this box that they would do such a thing?
Lin Fan raised his guard and immediately moved back when he sensed this, but it wasn’t as if anything happened.
After a moment of these fluctuations, they seemed to disappear without a trace and the top of the box opened. It didn’t seem like there was anything else that was going to happen with how the box just remained there motionlessly.
Lin Fan took a moment to make sure that nothing was wrong before coming forward to look inside the box.
When he looked in, he couldn’t help narrowing his eyes before saying, “A map?”
Inside of the box were sheets of paper and drawn on the sheets of paper were images that clearly showed that this was some kind of map.
Though when he looked at it, Lin Fan wasn’t able to figure out what kind of map it really was…
Until it seemed to click and he took out another map.
“Isn’t this where the Dao Sect ruins are? So they knew about it all along, but they just never had the chance to go and claim it.”
