Chapter 1396: As long as you know

The next morning, Lin Fan was surprised to see that Cheongryong and Baekho were waiting for him.

It seemed like they had been standing outside of his room for some time and had been waiting for him to come out.

But he knew that it wasn’t a good thing that they were standing there.

For them to stand there, it meant that there was something that they wanted from him and if this was something good, they wouldn’t have been waiting for him like this early in the morning.

With the way that they stood there, it was almost as if they were here to stop him from running away.

When they saw him come out, neither of them said a single thing.

However, the serious looks on their faces were more than enough to tell Lin Fan what was going on and this also confirmed what he was thinking.

Instead of acting serious, Lin Fan just casually asked, “What’s going on? Did you need something this early in the morning?”

Then with a bit of seriousness, he said, “Did you get some new information from them?”

The way that he was acting was as if he was oblivious to what they were doing. He was trying to make them let down their guards so that he would be able to get some kind of clue from them.

But it wasn’t as if the two of them were fools.

The two of them had been doing this for a long time, so it wasn’t that easy to make them let their guards down.

“Come with us. There’s someone here to see you.” Cheongryong said in a simple voice before turning around to leave.

Baekho didn’t say anything and just followed behind Cheongryong when she turned around.

Seeing this, Lin Fan was even more confused since there simply weren’t any clues for him to pick up on. He had no idea who they were referring to, but he did have a few guesses.

Someone that could make the two of them act this way was definitely not normal.

Not to mention that they were someone that could come all the way here to see him.

That really narrowed down the identity of who it could be.

Which was why Lin Fan wasn’t surprised to see the person that had been waiting for him.

There was a part of him that had even been expecting to see this person since it was only natural that it would be this person.

“So, it seems like you’ve been doing some things in secret.”

That was the first thing that Haku said which made an awkward look appear on Lin Fan’s face.

After all, he knew that she wouldn’t be saying this if she wasn’t certain of the things that he had done. That meant that she already knew that he had snuck off somewhere last night.

The only thing that he could do now was see just how much she knew and what he would tell her…

“You don’t have to act this way. I don’t really care where you went since you’re free to do whatever you want. We’re working together, it’s not as if you’re our prisoner.”

Lin Fan was once again caught off guard by this, but he couldn’t help narrowing his eyes to look at Haku after she said this. The way that she said this was almost too casual that Lin Fan couldn’t believe it.

However, he could tell that Haku was serious about this.

It really didn’t seem like she cared about what he was doing.

He was certain of this not because of how she acted, but because of how Cheongryong and Baekho acted. The awkward expressions on their faces were more than enough to show that what she was saying was putting them in an awkward position as the ones that reported this.

Only it didn’t seem like Haku was about to take back what she said.

Because of the way that Haku acted, there was no one that really knew what to do in this awkward situation.

In the end, it was Haku herself who broke the silence by suddenly saying, “There is one thing that I have to ask though.”

Everyone was surprised to hear this, but then everyone also revealed cautious looks.

Lin Fan wasn’t the only one that was surprised by her question, which actually made him more cautious. If even Cheongryong and Baekho were surprised by this, then it meant that this was something that she hadn’t discussed with anyone.

Haku was someone that Lin Fan had never managed to read before, so he really had no idea what she was going to ask.

In the end, she did catch him off guard with this one thing that she had to say.

“Are you planning on harming the Laver Empire?”

Lin Fan had a look of disbelief on his face when he heard this before he looked at Haku in confusion. He just simply had no idea what she meant by this question.

Even when he looked at Cheongryong and Baekho for some kind of clue, it seemed like the two of them were just as confused as him. It seemed like they had never expected her to ask this question.

However, it didn’t seem like Haku was planning on explaining herself.

So in the end, Lin Fan had to think for a while to try and figure out what she wanted from him.

But no matter how he pondered this question, he really couldn’t think of what to say.

At the same time, it didn’t seem like Haku was planning on giving him any more time to think about this as she said, “It’s a simple question, just give me an answer already.”

There was still a moment of hesitation in the end, but then Lin Fan said, “I have no intentions of harming the Laver Empire regardless of what I am planning to do. You are Rokuko’s family, so I will respect that.”

Haku just gave a simple nod in response before saying, “Then there’s no need to worry about anything. Since you regard us as family, then I’ll trust you as such.”

Lin Fan was once again caught off guard since this was the first time that Haku had spoken to him like this.

No matter what kind of situation it was in the past, Haku would never speak to him like this since she hated him for being with Rokuko. But now it seemed like she was slowly coming around to accept him.

But the more that she acted this way, the more that Lin Fan raised his guard since it really felt like she was up to something.

“I’m not up to anything.” Haku said as if she read his mind. Then with a sigh, she added, “I know that there’s no way to stop this and you’ve reached a point where you can even affect the entire Laver Empire because of your status on the other continent. At this point, it would be bad for us to keep treating you the same way.”

Everything that she was saying made sense, it was just strange that it was Haku who was saying it.

But since she was willing to say this, there had to be a point to it.

There had to be a reason that she had come around to accept Lin Fan all of a sudden.

“The bottom line is that you won’t do anything to harm the Laver Empire. You can do all the things that you want as long as you aren’t targeting the Laver Empire.” She suddenly said in a serious tone that made everyone here realize how serious she was.

“I won’t.” Lin Fan said after a moment of silence.

Haku gave a satisfied nod before suddenly standing up to say, “Well, she’ll be satisfied that I spoke to you.”

At this, Lin Fan couldn’t help shaking his head with a strange look on his face.

He had guessed that Rokuko had something to do with this since it was only Rokuko that could convince Haku of this. Though he was a bit curious just what Rokuko had offered Haku that she would come to this decision.

“No, it’s not just that alone.” Lin Fan knew that this alone wouldn’t be enough.

There was some truth in what Haku had said.

She did recognize the status that he currently had, which was also partly why she came to this decision. She knew that it would be more helpful to have him on their side rather than to keep him out of their inner circle.

From this, Lin Fan could guess what Haku would be planning to do with him.

Since she had accepted him, it was only natural that she would use him.

“As long as you know, that’s enough.” Haku started by saying this, but then she suddenly doubled back to add, “However, there are a few things that we do need from you. Since we’ve helped you with this matter, it’s only natural that you should help us as well.”

The smile on her lips didn’t really seem to reach her eyes.

Only there wasn’t anything that Lin Fan could say to refute this.

Even if this matter was helpful to the Laver Empire since they eliminated the Highoaks related to the Dao Sect, this was something that Lin Fan had brought to them for his own benefit.

Now it seemed like Haku wanted to take a bit of interest back from him for this.

Not to mention that it looked like she was planning to work him hard with the way that she looked at him.
