Lin Fan had been prepared for all kinds of scenarios, but mainly for the ones where he was betrayed by these people.

But in the end, that never happened.

Even though he had been expecting them to not give him the information that he needed, they actually did give him what he wanted.

Not only that, they had gathered all the information that they thought would be useful to him and made sure to organize it for him. It was as if they were doing all that they could to help him.

This made Lin Fan a bit confused since he had heard what they had said.

He had really thought that the two sides would try to investigate this place on their own since he was interested in it. That was why he had been watching over them so that he could steal their results for himself.

But it seemed like they were fully committed to working with him. It seemed like they were planning on doing all that they could to make sure that they were in his good books.

Lin Fan could guess that this was most likely because of his status as a S Rank Adventurer.

It was just that he had been hoping that they would be a bit more greedy.

When Lin Fan arrived at the place, he found that this place had been abandoned completely.

It was as if everyone was afraid of coming to this place because of all the rumours that had spread.

Though seeing what he was seeing now, he felt that what they had been talking about might not be rumours at all. After all, there were the signs of the things from the rumours that were in front of him.

With the way that these signs were placed, it was clear that this couldn’t be faked.

At the same time, he could sense that there was some kind of energy that was coming from these signs on the ground. It was as if there was some kind of lingering energy from whoever created these signs.

Lin Fan wouldn’t have bothered with these things, but he could tell that there was something that was almost familiar with the energy that came from these signs.

It was just that it was too faint for him to actually pinpoint what he felt was familiar with these signs.

Since he wasn’t able to figure this out, Lin Fan moved deeper into the forest.

Lin Fan had no idea what to expect and the first thing that came at him definitely wasn’t what he had been expecting. If it wasn’t for the fact that he had been using his spiritual sense around himself the entire time, then he would have been completely caught off guard by this thing that came at him.

Though when his spiritual sense told him about this thing, it wasn’t the usual method.

Instead of just sensing that something was coming towards him, it felt as if there was something that was pulling his spiritual sense away.

Because of Lin Fan’s fast reactions, he was able to retract his spiritual sense before anything serious happened. However, there was a part of him that was shaken because the sensation that he felt wasn’t normal.

It was the sensation of something ripping his spiritual senses away from him.

Other than retracting his spiritual sense, Lin Fan quickly moved out of the way from where he had been standing.

The moment that he moved, there was a gash that was formed on the ground.

Though the way that this gash formed was definitely strange.

It didn’t feel like there was something that was cutting this gash in the ground, it was as if there was something that was ripping away what would have been in the place of the gash.

It was as if there was something that was absorbing everything that was in that space.

Once the gash had formed, Lin Fan felt a familiar sensation coming from it.

There were familiar traces about this energy and since it was still strong because it was fresh, he was able to tell what it was that was familiar about this.

“It seems to have the ability to absorb. This thing is just like the void power that I use.”

As he thought this, there was even this strange sensation that came from the black hole in his dantian. It was as if there was something that was pulling him towards it coming from the gash on the ground.

Lin Fan had no idea why this was the case, but this was a very strong sensation that suddenly came over him.

This was a fresh sensation compared to the old sensation that he felt from the traces that he had seen previously. There was no doubt that whatever had created this gash had created all of the other gashes.

At the same time, whatever created this gash was the one that owned the familiar energy that Lin Fan was feeling.

It was just that Lin Fan had no idea what it was that had released this attack.

The only thing that Lin Fan knew was that whatever it was had locked onto him before he could find it. Which meant that the first thing that he had to do now was to find cover.

Which was why Lin Fan broke out in a run in an attempt to get out of here.

Only as he was running, he could feel the things coming for him from the spiritual sense that he spread out around him. The moment that anything came near him, he would notice it right away.

Though the sensation of having his spiritual sense drained from him like this definitely wasn’t a good feeling. The more that it happened, the weaker that he was becoming from having his energy drained from him.

With how it was going, it really seemed like a matter of time before he was completely drained of all his energy.

Not to mention the biggest problem was that he didn’t know where it was coming from.

Lin Fan had tried to find some kind of pattern in the attacks falling on him, but he found that there really weren’t any patterns at all. The more that he tried to find a pattern, the less that he could find one.

The attacks seemed to be coming from every single direction with the way that it fell.

Lin Fan just couldn’t find the source of it at all with the different trajectories.

It really was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

But Lin Fan also knew that the longer that he allowed this to continue, it would only be a matter of time before he was worn down by the attacks coming at him. It wasn’t as if it seemed like it was going to stop and they seemed to come from every direction.

Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling that he was trapped.

“I really have no other choice…” Lin Fan thought to himself before revealing his final card.

“I can’t believe it worked…”

That was his next reaction when the power that he released clashed with the attacks that were coming from around him.

Since he had gained a new understanding of his void power, he was able to release it in a bubble around him as a barrier.

The moment that the attacks coming from around him hit that barrier, there was a clash between the two forces before his void power absorbed it.

It was a strange sensation since the attacks also contained power that was similar to his void power, but it seemed like his void power was the stronger one as it devoured those attacks.

With this barrier around him, Lin Fan found that he was able to catch his breath.

After all, when the attacks were absorbed by his void barrier, they actually helped restore his spiritual energy and he was able to keep moving because of it.

Though the other thing that surprised him was that his void powers were getting stronger.

It wasn’t something that Lin Fan noticed at first, but he could tell that the black hole was getting bigger.

“So they do come from the same source…” Lin Fan muttered to himself after seeing this.

Though that still didn’t explain what it was that was sending these attacks at him.

With this void power barrier protecting him, it seemed like the other side recognized that they wouldn’t be able to do anything to him which was why the attacks slowly stopped coming.

Lin Fan could tell that there was still something that was watching him which was why he didn’t release the void power barrier, but it wasn’t as if he could remain here forever.

So that was why he started heading in the direction that he came from.

At the very least, there was a range to where the people had reported to being attacked.

That at least meant that he was able to determine where he would be able to let down his guard.

Once he reached that point, he released his void power barrier.
