Chapter 1401: Tower

Lin Fan stopped because he could feel that there was something in the air.

It felt like there was something in front of him that was blocking his way, even though he didn’t really know what it was that was there.

It was just his instincts telling him that there was something there.

Even though his eyes couldn’t see it, his instincts made it very clear that there was something that was blocking his way.

After a momentary pause, Lin Fan raised his hand in front of him and released a suction force.

He had no idea what it was that was in front of him, but he knew that there was one thing that had proved to be effective previously. That was why he was using that one thing to take care of whatever it was that was there.

His instincts had proven to be right in the end as there was some kind of fluctuation that appeared in the space in front of him.

It seemed like the suction force that he released had made contact with something that was there and seemed to be draining power from it.

With the rate that he drained it, it really didn’t take long at all for that thing to disappear.

Once that thing disappeared, the path ahead was cleared for him even though he had never seen anything other than that fluctuation. The only thing that he could count on to tell him that the way was clear was his instincts.

So that was why Lin Fan stepped forward even without knowing what was there or even seeing anything at all.

After a few steps, it was as if the world around him changed.

The moment that he stepped past a certain boundary, the entire scenery around him changed.

It was as if he was walking into a different world.

Though in reality, it wasn’t as if that much had changed between this place and the world outside this place.

The only thing that had really changed was that there was this large tower that had appeared in front of him.

With the size of this tower, it really was something that was hard to miss. Even if one were to stand far away, it would have been hard for them to miss a tower of this size.

So the only reason that Lin Fan had missed this was because of what he had stepped through.

It wasn’t an array that he was familiar with, so it had to be the power of some kind of magic item that created the illusion that hid this tower. While he was familiar with magic items to a certain extent, it wasn’t as if he was completely familiar with them.

Not to mention a magic item that could create an illusion that could hide such a large tower, there was no doubt that this wasn’t a normal magic item. There was a part of Lin Fan that really wanted to find this magic item and take it away with him.

But that would come later.

Right now, the first thing that he had to do was investigate the tower that had appeared.

It wasn’t just the fact that this tower had been hidden by an illusion that he was curious about it. It was also the fact that Lin Fan could see that the instabilities in space were leading to the tower.

That meant that whatever had been attacking him this entire time was hidden inside of that tower.

He had no idea what to expect, but first he had to find a way into the tower.

As he approached, he found that it really wasn’t as simple as he thought.

When he came close to the tower, Lin Fan immediately released his void power barrier once more as attacks rained down on him. With this void power barrier, those attacks simply had no effect on him at all.

But Lin Fan could also tell that whoever was releasing those attacks seemed desperate.

They clearly didn’t want him approaching this tower, so they were trying to throw all of these attacks to chase him away. Only no matter how they tried to attack him, all he had to do was keep up the void power barrier to block all of these attacks.

As soon as they hit his void power barrier, they were all absorbed by it and disappeared without a trace.

Though the ones that hit the ground actually ripped away whatever was there and made it disappear without a trace. It was the same void power that he had which seemed to completely erase everything in the space of the attacks.

Seeing this, Lin Fan did have to wonder where the matter that was being absorbed by these attacks went.

When it came to his void power, the matter that was absorbed would be converted into energy for him that he would be able to use. It would all go into that black hole in the center of his dantian before being regurgitated out.

But there were no signs of energy flowing with these attacks.

So he really didn’t have an idea of where everything that was being absorbed was going.

Even when he absorbed the attacks, he could tell that the only energy that he was getting was from the attacks themselves. They didn’t seem to have any of the energy that was absorbed by the other attacks.

That just meant that everything was being sent to a different place.

The closer that Lin Fan got to the tower, the more that he could sense that familiar feeling. It seemed that whatever was attacking him was inside of this tower, though this was something that he had already guessed.

The other thing that he noticed was that there was something peculiar about this tower.

It seemed like there was something leading to the very top of the tower and the thing that was at the very top of the tower was spreading out all over this place.

If he had to guess, this was most likely the thing that was allowing whatever it was that was inside of the tower to see everything in this place.

This was a very strange thing, but Lin Fan could sense the mana that was flowing through it which told him that this was some kind of magic spell.

As for what that spell was specifically, he had no idea.

Once he was only a few steps away from the tower, it seemed like the attacks had almost stopped. Or it was better to say that the attacks were now more carefully aimed at him.

From this, Lin Fan could tell that whatever was inside of the tower was afraid of harming the tower itself.

“So there’s only so much control that it has over its attacks. When it’s not cornered, it attacks as fiercely as possible. But once it’s cornered like this, it actually becomes afraid.”

Lin Fan couldn’t help being curious as to what was hiding inside of the tower.

But standing in front of the tower, he could see that there was something on the tower that was preventing it from being open.

In one sense, it could be considered a seal for whatever was inside of the tower.

In another sense, it could be considered a seal that kept everything out so that they couldn’t reach whatever was inside of the tower.

“This seal really is something else. It’s much stronger than anything that I’ve seen before.” Lin Fan muttered to himself as he observed the seal on the door.

Though the look on his face didn’t seem to be struggling.

In fact, he was only spending this much time looking at the door because it interested him.

There wasn’t a need for him to actually spend this much time.

He was even being bombarded by the attacks from above while this was happening, so it really wasn’t doing him any favours to be standing here like this.

Still, Lin Fan stood there and watched the door because he was interested in how this seal was so strong. Or it was better to say that he really wanted to copy this so that he could use it for himself.

With a sigh, Lin Fan said, “It’s too bad that this is just too complicated for me. Not to mention that the materials that would be needed to make this thing would cost too much. I doubt that the Laver Empire would ever fund something like this and even if they would, they would just take it for themselves.”

So that was why Lin Fan became bored of this and reached his hand out towards the seal on the door.

The moment that he did, there was this suction force that came from his hand.

The moment that the suction force made contact with the seal on the door, the seal started to break down.

Lin Fan already knew that there was nothing better than his void power to deal with something like this. There were intricate parts of the seal that would be ruined the moment that something like this happened.

Which was why he knew that he would be able to easily break down this door.
