Chapter 361: Chapter 35: Tower of Order
Standing on the hillside, Lynch looked down at the pit with a gloomy expression.
Oh, dear!
Really oh, dear!
The adventurers he painstakingly cultivated with resources and education, even popularizing fighting spirit, finally achieved something, only for them to be directly taken and used for mining?
Seren said, “The difficulty of extracting Magic Stones is enormous. Using ordinary humans results in low efficiency and significant casualties, while using Alchemy Magic Statues is costly. Previously, a mix of the two was used here, overseen by a few apprentices. However, since a cheaper method was found, the efficiency of Magic Stone collection here has improved considerably.”
Lynch sarcastically remarked, “Cheap?”
“Not cheap at all.”
The cost of nurturing a professional is very high. Education, providing for their food, clothing, housing, transportation, cultivation resources—all these investments aren’t less than creating an Alchemy Magic Statue, and takes much longer than building one.
Lynch trained these professionals to excavate valuable knowledge in complex environments like the Underground City, not for the mindless low-level task of mining.
Anger, sheer anger.
However, Lynch quickly controlled his emotions and turned to look at Seren beside him.
He raised an eyebrow: “You seem to be very familiar with the situation here? Specifically bringing me to see this, what, you want me to deal with this Dark Moon Church for you?”
Such an obvious case of using someone else to do one’s dirty work—how could Lynch fail to see through it?
Seren awkwardly laughed: “Ha…ha.”
After a pause, he scratched his head and explained somewhat embarrassedly: “You know, I’m a businessman. Doing business means traveling around. I’ve had dealings with many wizard organizations here, so of course, I’m more familiar with the place.”
“As for this Dark Moon Church, indeed we have some grudges. Not long ago, they tricked me into exploiting a Magic Stone mine here. After I invested Magic Stones to have people build the pit, they found an excuse to kick me out. They have no integrity at all, it’s truly infuriating!”
He said hatefully.
Lynch nodded: “I see, so you want me to help you get revenge and deal with this Dark Moon Church?”
Seren said, “This is a mutually beneficial win-win situation, okay? Once your influence expands into this area, we can cooperate to mine the Magic Stone, and everyone benefits.”
Lynch looked at him with a strange expression.
This calculating Fatty has a good plan, but there’s one problem.
Lynch asked suspiciously: “So why should I cooperate with you for mining?”
Their current cooperation is all because of Magic Stones. Lynch needs Magic Stones, so he extracts various resources from resource sites to sell to Seren in exchange for Magic Stones. If he had his own Magic Stone mine, why would he need to cooperate at all, wouldn’t it be better to mine the Magic Stones himself?
“Heh heh.”
Seren laughed: “It’s not that simple. When you mine Magic Stone veins, won’t you need to refine and process them? You might handle small batches, but are you sure you possess the skills for large-scale production?”
Lynch furrowed his brow slightly—this seemed like an issue.
Extracting Magic Stones from raw Magic Stone ore isn’t simple, with at least a dozen processes involved. Lynch certainly had grasped the refining techniques, but it was limited to small batches; with large-scale production, it might really be impossible.
Seren continued: “Moreover, with us backing you up, you can stand firm here.”
Lynch squinted his eyes.
He fully understood the implication behind Seren’s words, which aligned with his ongoing demands. After all, being one of the strongest Witch Domains in the world, having this powerful backing would make resolving the issue of being wanted much less problematic.
But…
Is this Fran reliable?
He had heard various rumors about Fran since the time of the Ancient Ruins, not extreme evil but certainly not positive. A shallow cooperation was fine for now, but deeper interactions made Lynch somewhat hesitant.
Compared to Fran, Lynch actually leaned more towards the Land of Freedom with its generally more just image in rumors, but he had never found a way to approach them…
Seeing through Lynch’s thoughts, Seren asked, “What? Are you considering collaborating with the Land of Freedom?”
Previously, Lynch had inquired about the Land of Freedom with him.
Lynch nodded: “From what I’ve heard in the rumors, compared to your Fran, the Land of Freedom gives off a better vibe.”
It’s one of the world’s strongest Witch Domains, rumored to hold the ultimate truths, the highest current-level Magic Knowledge, and the most distinguished and powerful wizards—an existence that illuminates the Wizard World.
Seren rolled his eyes: “Only you ignorant bumpkins would think they represent justice. The world isn’t what you imagine it to be.”
“Let’s go, continue forward, and you’ll find out soon enough.”
They continued on their journey.
Heading deeper towards the Jade Ridge, after crossing a few mountain ranges and forests, Lynch and Seren soon arrived at the mountain’s deepest part.
Upon reaching here, Lynch sensed a noticeable difference.
The outside already contained a lot of elements, but here, the elemental concentration was far richer, many times over compared to outside.
After walking a bit further, a peculiar scene unfolded before Lynch’s eyes.
This was a valley.
A Fortress Valley.
In the center of the valley, built against the mountain wall, stood a tremendously majestic Magic Fortress.
A tower-like structure, likely over a thousand meters tall, constructed entirely of Obsidian and Mithril, it resembled a fang piercing from Hell into the skies. Every inch of its tower body was etched with flowing liquid magic patterns, with tens of thousands of ghostly blue runes flickering as if stars had fallen to the earth.
The mountain anchoring the tower base had been transformed into a honeycomb structure with hundreds of rhombic corridors exhaling steam and rainbow light. The connected sections above had been built into a giant Floating Port, with Flying Aircraft of various sizes suspended at the port.
Lynch noticed carts approaching from all directions along the long mountain paths, piled high with Magic Stone Mines.
These Magic Stone Mines were gathered here and reloaded by Alchemy Magic Statues into crates, later transported in batches onto the Flying Aircraft above, and finally escorted by these aircraft into the sky.
Lynch asked puzzlingly: “What’s this?”
The high tower fortress before him surpassed any Wizard Tower in both structure and complexity Lynch had encountered so far; such a creation certainly wasn’t possible for typical Wizard powers, not even the Shadow Tower would be capable of such a feat.
Seren explained: “This is the Tower of Order.”
Lynch was stunned.
Wizards in the Wizard World wouldn’t be unfamiliar with the term Tower of Order. It’s a powerful Five-Ring Wizard Organization coming from the Land of Freedom, specifically established for combat and military purposes, known as one of the most powerful Wizard Organizations in the world.
Their reach spans the globe and forms one of the fundamental pillars maintaining the current world order!
