Chapter 414: Chapter 15: Knowledge Repository
Bruno led Lynch to the first warehouse, which was the knowledge repository of the Dark Moon Church.
Lynch’s leather boots stepped on the obsidian floor inscribed with star-like cracks as he walked into this library-like repository, surveying the surroundings.
The moonstones suspended from the dome above suddenly glowed with a ghostly blue aura. This library, hidden deep within the seventh floor of the tower, had a spiral descending structure. Laurel tree columns supported the floating circular bookshelves, with each branch hung with sheepskin scrolls bound by dark red threads. Runes slowly wriggled and reassembled into words in the airflow.
Rows of bookshelves radiated outward in concentric circles, resembling a labyrinth in appearance.
“These are movable bookshelves crafted from Fallen Star Wood,”
Bruno extended his withered fingers, drawing a few runes in the air.
Instantly, the previously silent library seemed to come alive. The stationary bookshelves began rotating and moving before Lynch.
With a wave of Bruno’s hand, one row of bookshelves halted in front of Lynch, and with another wave, another row replaced it.
Bruno explained, “Sir, you only need to activate the runes here to control and access any knowledge you desire.”
Oh? Not a bad design.
Lynch nodded, walked over, and casually picked up a book.
“Knowledge category [Flos Rune Writing Basics] has been loaded.”
“Flos Rune Writing Basics 0/500.”
A basic apprentice-level knowledge.
Lynch casually picked up a few more books and flipped through them; they were all apprentice-level knowledge.
He frowned slightly, “Why is everything at the apprentice level?”
Is the old fellow trying to fool me?
Bruno stiffened and quickly replied, “Sir, these are all in the public library section. The wizard-level ones are inside, let me take you there.”
Lynch immediately followed Bruno and continued forward.
After passing through the outer circles of the labyrinth, they quickly reached the core area of the library, where there was an isolated room that resembled a small log cabin, standing out prominently among the library.
Upon entering this hall, the interior layout was like a reading room, with seven or eight bookshelves built against the walls, each packed with books.
At the far end, there was a fireplace built into the wall, the fire crackling brightly.
Bruno explained, “This is the wizard-level library, accessible only to authorized wizards. Other apprentices can’t make it through the labyrinth outside to get here.”
Is that so?
Lynch stepped forward, casually took a book from the shelf, and flipped through it; this was wizard-level knowledge.
“Knowledge category [Gretel’s Spiritual Purification Method] has been loaded.”
“Flos Rune Writing Basics 0/10000.”
He continued to take more books off the shelf; without exception, they were content above wizard-level.
“Good, good!”
Lynch’s face finally showed a bit of a smile.
In the Wizard World, the most valuable treasure is undoubtedly knowledge, and the higher level the knowledge, the greater its value.
Opening the library in the Time Hut also requires using such knowledge as fuel for energy; with this much knowledge, it’s sufficient to charge up a lot of energy for the next door of the Time Hut.
Seeing Lynch in good spirits, Bruno quickly took advantage of the situation and said, “Sir, there’s also a legacy inside, which is our Dark Moon Church’s core knowledge repository.”
Lynch’s eyes lit up, “Oh?”
Bruno quickly said, “Please follow me.”
Saying so, Bruno led Lynch forward towards the back of the room, reaching the fireplace.
Bruno took out a short magic wand, pointing it at the fireplace and reciting a strange incantation.
“Boom!”
The fire in the fireplace suddenly roared to life, long tongues of flame spewing forth, turning the entire fireplace into a sea of fire.
Amidst the crackling flames, a small door was faintly visible.
Bruno pointed to the door and said to Lynch, “There lies our Dark Moon Church’s core knowledge repository. Only the Witch Master has the authority to enter; none of the wizards in the tower, including myself, have entered.”
“These flames are a barrier left by the Witch Master; even I can’t safely pass through them.”
Lynch observed and indeed sensed the same spiritual field as Tarim in these flames; the heat released was no less than several thousand degrees, far beyond what ordinary wizard defensive spells could withstand.
But this was not a problem for Lynch; even spells cast personally by Tarim couldn’t harm him, let alone a residual barrier.
It’s just that…
What if there’s a trap left by Tarim in there? Could the old fellow be playing dirty?
Although, based on the spiritual power’s fluctuations and response, it seemed unlikely, Lynch, to be cautious, cast a curse spell on the old man.
He said, “I’ll go in and take a look; if there’s no problem, I’ll lift the curse for you. But if I discover you’re hiding something from me… you wouldn’t want to know the consequences.”
Bruno trembled all over and quickly knelt to the ground, “Bruno absolutely dares not harbor any hostility.”
That’s the best!
Lynch turned around, activated the Time Suspension, and walked into the burning flames.
Time for him had been paused the moment before entering the fire; the thousands of degrees of scorching heat around him could not harm him in the slightest. After all, no matter how hot the flames were, even if they could burn through space, how could they burn through time?
Fire burning at this moment, no matter how fierce, could not burn something from a past moment.
This is the power of Time Magic!
Passing through the small door in the fire, Lynch quickly entered another space.
This is a closed room, looking like a study, with a bookshelf inside, beside which was a desk, with a lantern on it. The faint lamplight from the windproof cover gently illuminated the surroundings.
Plain and ordinary, nothing special, even a bit sparse. It looked nothing like a wizard’s treasured library, more like a study in a down-and-out noble’s household.
Lynch walked over, reaching out to take a book from the shelf.
However, the moment his fingertips touched the bookshelf, some illusions suddenly flashed in his mind.
In the illusions, he seemed to see an old man walking into the study.
An old man whose actual age was indiscernible, with dark green hair and wise eyes.
Lynch had seen this figure once before, in the illusions of the resentful spirit imprisoned by Alfred in the Ruins Forest.
This was no other than the former master of the Jade Land.
The Three-Ring Wizard Felvin.
