Chapter 532: Chapter 27: Secret Skill!
Julia and Saul exchanged glances, seeing shock in each other’s eyes.
“Secret skill! Was that a secret skill just now?” Julia exclaimed in surprise.
Saul nodded. “No doubt about it, the energy fluctuation of that rune was indeed a secret skill…”
Meanwhile, the extraordinary endowment in the square continued unabated.
“Boom!”
Above the altar, an invisible energy vortex began to coalesce, emitting a low rumble! The wind in the square became wild and chaotic, whipping people’s eyes shut. The energy detection instrument had long been placed at a distance, and at this moment its needle swung madly, instantly breaking through the limit marked “Wizard” and kept soaring upwards!
degrees!
degrees!
“It’s still rising! Oh my god!”
“What kind of extraordinary power is this?!”
The Rune Masters’ foreheads throbbed as they exerted all their strength to maintain the altar’s stability. Julia’s prayers grew more urgent and sacred, while Saul’s chant was like a stabilizing needle, reassuring Schneider’s spirit on the verge of collapse amidst the violent energy.
Just as Schneider felt his body and soul were about to be completely torn apart and melted by this raging golden torrent, a rhombus rune stone located directly above his head at the core of the altar – a “primordial rune” personally engraved by Lynch – suddenly lit up!
A pure white beam of light, condensed to the extreme and seemingly able to pierce through the void, shot out from the rhombus rune stone, precisely entering Schneider’s brow!
“Boom!”
Schneider’s body froze abruptly, with all his cries of pain cut off. The raging golden light enveloping him instantly collapsed inward and contracted, finally fully absorbed into his body. The dark golden rune network on his surface completely stabilized, deeply imprinted, exuding a restrained yet formidable pressure.
The light of the altar slowly dimmed, the wind stopped, and the thunder ceased.
Schneider stood quietly where he was. He remained unchanged, the severed arm still gone, the scars still there. But everyone could feel that something had completely transformed!
His figure seemed to merge with the surrounding light and shadow, becoming somewhat indistinct. His gaze was as deep as an abyss, no longer simply sharp, but carrying a glacial insight into shadows and a sovereign command over space.
An intangible, unnerving shadow power spread silently from him as the center, causing those near the altar to instinctively take a step back, as if the region had transformed into a shadow domain, barring the living from entry.
He slowly raised his one remaining right hand, fingers spread wide. Without spells or gestures, the shadow at his feet writhed like a living creature, stretching and coalescing! In an instant, a dagger entirely composed of pure shadow, with edges flowing with dark golden runes, appeared in his hand. The dagger was silent yet emanated a chilling aura as if cutting through souls!
Schneider gripped the shadow dagger tightly, feeling the torrent of power within him, far beyond what he imagined in the past. He gazed at his vacant left arm, with a slight mental motion, dense shadow gathered and took shape, forming an extremely flexible “shadow arm” of flowing darkness!
He lifted his head, with no trace of ecstasy on his scarred and twisted face, only a hardened cold killing intent and resolute determination to protect.
Kneeling on one knee towards Julia and Saul below the altar, towards the entire Feiyan City, and towards the guardian watching over this place in the unseen realms, his voice rasping yet clashing like metal, echoed across the silent square:
“Shadow Dancer Schneider, willing to be the guardian’s blade, cutting down all invading enemies!”
After a brief dead silence, the whole square erupted in chaos! Cheers, exclamations, incredulous shouts soared to the sky!
“Secret skill… it’s truly a secret skill…”
Saul stared blankly, muttering with his mouth agape.
As a Transcendent, he had walked this Transcendent path for over a century, yet he remained only a Mid-level Wizard, still striving to advance to a High-level Wizard, while soul purification seemed unattainable.
Secret skill could be said to be his lifelong greatest pursuit.
Yet at this moment,
A mortal, an ordinary human, had already mastered the goal he had never achieved in his lifetime, how could he not be shocked.
Alongside the shock, there was a hint of fear.
The reason these Transcendents were able to rule the world and stand above all beings ultimately was because they possessed extraordinary power that mortals could not.
But now, if these mortals also possess such powerful might… what will the world become?
Saul found it difficult to imagine.
Meanwhile,
In the crowd, Lynch pulled his hood over, quickly vanishing into the bustling streets.
The experiment,
success was achieved!
The stone he cast into the calm lake of the Wizard World would stir what kind of waves upon this world, Lynch did not wish to think too deeply about, nor was it his responsibility to consider.
Currently, his role was simply as a Witch Master of a Witch Domain, and he only needed to focus on how to strengthen his forces.
As for the rest…
When the heavens fall, tall ones will prop it up, why fear it at all!
Besides, the current amount of extraordinary energy is actually far from the point of bringing transformation to the Wizard World.
Though Lynch had opened the path from Wizard to secret skill, obtaining extraordinary endowment at the secret skill level still had stringent restrictions.
First, one must at least have strength at the Great Knight Level or above, after all, Lynch’s extraordinary endowment was fundamentally based on human mastery of fighting spirit — only by using fighting spirit to the utmost can one withstand the corresponding level of Rune Power.
Alone this criterion already screened out ninety-nine percent of humans, given human life is simply too short; to elevate fighting spirit to Great Knight Level in such a short lifespan requires not only amazing perseverance but also exceptional talent.
In Lynch’s Witch Domain, combining the population of several territories, it exceeded ten million, yet those reaching the Great Knight level numbered no more than three figures.
Reaching the Great Knight Level was merely the basic condition for conducting secret skill extraordinary endowment.
Beyond this, one must apply the first phase’s extraordinary endowment to the fullest, in some sense, the difficulty level matches that of cultivation from Knight to Great Knight.
All in all, currently within Lynch’s Witch Domain, humans achieving secret skill level extraordinary endowment numbered fewer than a dozen.
And secret skill was merely the iceberg tip of Wizard potent power.
Secret skill alone had a total of thirteen paths, with energy strength starting at 1000 in the beginning to tens of thousands eventually, the disparity akin to heaven and chasm.
Not to mention above secret skill there are Domains, Rules, and ultimately Truth.
Lynch’s little trick was still far from enough to shake the World Rules of the Wizard World, nor affecting its structure…
