Chapter 533: Chapter 28: Discussion
Wizard Calendar, Year 10166.
The time has reached Year 10166 of the Wizard Calendar, when 28 years have passed since the war.
Twenty-eight years. Enough time for a baby to grow into a warrior, for a warrior to turn into bones, for a kingdom to become a legend.
The conflict once called the “Revenge War of the Ramdin Tragedy” has long shed its initial colors, evolving into a calamity driven purely by power, enveloped by the inertia of hate, with even the participants unable to define its purpose.
The war itself has become the only “status quo” for both sides.
In this prolonged war, both Orendales paid a dreadful price.
On Charlie’s side in Orendale, the Ramding Kingdom, which initially sparked the conflict, has almost ceased to exist.
Its core territory, including the Royal Capital, was completely wiped out in several brutal final battles, especially in the recent Wizard Level showdown, where the entire Royal Capital was swept by a fierce elemental storm.
The city turned to ruins, civilians were forced to leave their homeland, the entire kingdom was destroyed.
Calia Duchy, Dozel Duchy, Kalis Kingdom.
Although they were not instantly destroyed on the front lines, they also paid a similarly terrible price.
They died slowly in the long process of resource depletion, exhaustion of troops, and being used as power sources or laboratories by the wizards.
Most of their territories turned into secondary Magic Scar Zones (toxic swamps, eternal frozen wastelands, elemental deserts), with the remaining towns and population struggling to survive under the shadow of the wizard organization, becoming servants or experimental subjects. As independent political entities, they have almost disappeared from the map.
Charlie Greenst himself turned to ashes in a “Beheading Witchcraft” aimed at his court more than ten years ago.
His nominal alliance crumbled. Now, “Charlie’s side” is just an empty alias, actually led by Ivory Tower and other wizard organizations, controlling the remaining lands and populations that can still provide resources.
The war initiated by Charlie’s Orendale did not develop as they expected.
Karina’s Orendale, in overall strength, surpassed Charlie’s Orendale by one level, with the Blood Knight Order formed by pure knights, the special operations squads composed of high-level adventurers, and even ordinary soldiers, all much stronger than Charlie’s Orendale.
After all, every ordinary adult male and even female under Karina’s Orendale could freely receive knight training to master Fighting Spirit, and later even undergo Extraordinary Transformation through the Extraordinary Altar to be granted Extraordinary Power.
While Charlie’s Orendale remained stuck in the old mindset of governance, where Fighting Spirit, a secret skill not passed down, was only known to the nobles and passed down within noble bloodlines, ordinary people had no chance to master it, nor dared to violate the laws set by the nobles.
The different rule systems destined two kingdoms to have completely different potential for war. Karina’s Orendale was no longer on the same level as Charlie’s Orendale…
…
Pure White Tower.
In the Pure White Hall devoid of any variegation, many wizards from the Pure White Tower gathered here, with only one purpose—
To discuss whether to intervene in this war.
The war has reached such a point that, relying purely on secular power, Charlie and Orendale’s side have completely no chance of winning, only destruction awaits.
Although Charlie’s Orendale was not nominally under Pure White Tower’s control, they were actually always governed by the Pure White Tower, and all generated resources and profits ultimately flowed to the Pure White Tower.
Once the war ends in failure, it would mean the Pure White Tower would lose this large sum of resources, which they cannot accept.
Within the Pure White Hall, the icy white stone walls reflected the bluish magic glow, enveloping the entire council chamber in an almost sacred yet chilling atmosphere.
Twelve high-level wizards in white robes sat around a round table carved out of pure arcane crystal, each with an expression as calm as ice, but with eyes flashing different emotions—balance, indifference, greed, or subtle anxiety.
The Master of Pure White, Anderson, sat at the head, his face as unmoving as marble, but only his pale golden pupils occasionally rippled with a dim magic fluctuation. He spoke slowly, his voice deep and cold, as though coming from a distant void:
“What is happening? Why has the situation become so dire? Who will answer me!”
This low and angry voice echoed in the hall, causing ripples to form in the space where the sound passed.
The war began under Anderson’s implicit authorization, initially aiming to advance into Lynch’s Witch Domain, using a war to annex or even devour part of Lynch’s domain.
However, the war’s trajectory was completely beyond Anderson’s expectation; Charlie and Orendale not only failed to seize a piece of Lynch’s domain, but even suffered a series of defeats and now almost lost two-thirds of their territory.
Anderson couldn’t understand, since they held an absolute advantage when the war began, whether in population, territory, or the backing wizard resources.
As long as the secret skill level did not personally get involved, they should have presented a crushing stance.
After hesitating, the high-level wizard Garcia finally stood up, frowning and saying: “We underestimated the overall power of that outsider’s Witch Domain; he has cultivated many knights and undergone Extraordinary Transformation for them over the years.”
“In addition to that, after annexing the Dark Moon Church, he also absorbed many wizards, while several wizard organizations within his domain have been cultivating transcendent beings for a long time; the comprehensive strength is much stronger than we anticipated.”
Anderson frowned and said: “Cultivating?”
He couldn’t understand and said: “So many transcendental powers, with so much Extraordinary Transformation, where did all those resources come from? Did he occupy the entire Jade Ridge? When did this happen, why don’t I know?”
The widespread education of Fighting Spirit, the screening and cultivation of many Extraordinary Physique, these require massive resources and mere Magic Stones alone are undoubtedly astronomical.
Even if Lynch only occupied a small part of Jade Ridge, or possessed all the veins of Jade Ridge, it might not have been enough to complete so many projects.
Anderson asked coldly: “I need an explanation, who can give me one!”
