Chapter 694: Chapter 27: This World Is Vast—Vast Beyond Imagination!
Just as the soul-piercing echo of the bell had yet to fully dissipate, an abrupt change erupted in the plaza!
From the gaps in the ancient, weathered stone floor, thick, ink-like black smoke suddenly oozed out without warning, rolling and squirming incessantly! These smoke clouds seemed to possess a life of their own, quickly converging from all directions to the center of the plaza, starting to distort, condense, and form shapes…
In the blink of an eye, dozens of bizarre figures appeared abruptly on the plaza!
Their forms were roughly humanoid, but entirely pitch black, as if composed of the purest shadow, with faint black mist swirling and rising from their surfaces. They were enveloped in large, tattered black cloaks, thoroughly concealing their entire bodies.
The most unsettling thing was—these creatures’ heads, where their faces should be, were completely smooth and featureless black! No eyes, no nose, no mouth, as if wearing a smooth black mask, or as if their heads were inherently like this!
They stood there silently, without a sound, resembling guardians emerging from ancient tombs, exuding a cold, dead, and inhuman eerie aura.
Lynch’s eyes were filled with astonishment as he instinctively summoned all his perception to investigate these suddenly appearing creatures.
In his Elemental Vision, these creatures exhibited an extremely peculiar elemental structure arrangement—unlike any known combination of elements, chaotic yet possessing an indescribable, cold sense of order, seemingly following a completely different set of rules.
He immediately switched to the Soul Vision of the Eye of Death God. Yet, the result was equally shocking—these creatures were not soulless, but their soul frequency and traits were completely different from any intelligent life he knew! It was a more ancient, more indifferent, more… non-human essence!
’What on earth are these things?!’ Lynch was perplexed. With all his current knowledge and experience, he couldn’t determine the origin or race of these creatures! They seemed… not to belong to this world system at all!
Standing next to him, Kong seemed to sense his bewilderment, slightly tilted her head and whispered, “Don’t worry, these are the ’Faceless Ones.’”
“Faceless Ones?” Lynch repeated the unfamiliar term softly, frowning.
“Yes,” Kong nodded, her eyes vigilantly scanning the motionless black figures, “You can simply understand them as the ’guards’ of the Lost Tower entrance, responsible for maintaining basic order in this plaza, ensuring the smooth process of opening and closing the entrance.”
She paused, her tone becoming particularly serious, with a clear warning: “Remember, never take action in the plaza, or attempt to provoke or attack any existence. These Faceless Ones… each possesses at least Rule Wizard-level strength. Angering them, the consequences would be unimaginable.”
“Each having Rule Level strength?!” Lynch was involuntarily astonished at the words.
Rule Wizards! They stood at the pinnacle of the Wizard World! On the surface, the entire Supreme Council, together with the Four Great Witch Realms, had merely dozens of Rule Wizards!
And at this moment, the number of Faceless Ones quietly standing on this plaza, at a rough glance, already exceeded twenty! Could it be that just the guarding force of this Lost Tower entrance alone could rival or even surpass the total top-level combat power of the entire Wizard World?
How could this be possible?!
Kong seemed to see through his inner shock and doubt, gently shaking her head, her voice becoming deeper, as if recounting an ancient secret: “Do not measure everything here with our common sense, Lynch.”
“The Wizard World is far broader and deeper than you imagine. The Supreme Council, the Four Great Witch Realms that we are familiar with… might just be a small part floating on the surface of this world. The truth hidden behind the veil exceeds anything you and I could imagine.”
Lynch was taken aback.
Back when he was at the Shadow Tower, he had realized his insignificance, and even after arriving at the Jade Land, he dared not think himself remarkable, but now he had come to the Land of Fran within the Five Rings Wizard Domain.
Originally believing that, if not standing at the world’s apex, at least he should understand the entire panorama of this world, right?
But…
Just how vast is this world?
Lynch grew increasingly bewildered.
“Buzz…”
At this moment, a bizarre and grand spatial fluctuation suddenly emanated from the center of the plaza, instantly capturing everyone’s attention!
This fluctuation wasn’t a violent release of energy but a ripple produced by a deeper, more fundamental touch of the Space Law. It swept across the entire plaza gently yet irresistibly, each Wizard with even a slight perception of space law could clearly feel it.
Lynch instinctively turned his head at the first moment, his gaze sharp and electric, toward the source of the fluctuation—above the dark vortex.
There, as if the most exquisite silk was silently torn by an invisible hand, a gap silently opened, with silver runes flowing along its edges, and an unfathomably deep black crack inside.
’This texture of the spatial fluctuation…’ Lynch squinted his eyes.
The way this rift appeared, the effortless grace it held, directly pointing to the essence of rules, made him feel an inexplicable sense of familiarity!
This was astonishingly similar to what he felt when assisting Star Speaker Gulwige in deciphering those most profound Acadia space runes, belonging to the Truth Wizard, with its vast and exquisite nature! Just seemingly more… refined and transcendent.
While he was puzzled in his heart, a figure slowly walked out from that spatial crack.
The newcomer wore a seemingly simple black Wizard Robe, without any excess decoration or insignia. His face was shrouded in the shadow of the hood, indistinct, and no intense elemental fluctuations or powerful spiritual power pressure emanated from his body.
However, the moment he stepped onto the plaza’s stone slabs—
An indescribable “cognition,” like the fundamental laws of the universe, undeniably, synchronously branded itself onto the deepest consciousness of every Wizard present in the plaza!
It was not through mental transmission, nor soul whispers, nor energy oppression. It was a kind of “information injection” or “rule proclamation,” acting on a higher-dimensional level than all those.
It was as if the world itself was whispering to them, informing them of an undeniable fact:
The existence before them, his life’s level and the essence of his power, had transcended the limits of their understanding.
A clear, chilling term exploded simultaneously in everyone’s mind, carrying supreme majesty and an absolute sense of disparity—
Truth Level!
