Chapter 697: Chapter 3: Comprehensive Expansion of Basic Knowledge Categories
Although Lynch had already reached the domain level, he never stopped absorbing the content of the fundamental study of related spells.
Whenever he encountered knowledge he hadn’t seen before, regardless of how low-level it was, he would take it and load it into the system panel for learning.
The scope of his study was equally extensive, spanning Spirit, Body Refinement, and Magic, across all categories under the three major classes, leaving almost none untouched.
Don’t think this is purely a waste of time and meaningless.
In fact, the deeper one delves into the Wizard’s Road, the more one notices the profoundness of magic; the more one feels that all these categories of spells share some form of connection. And this connection might be—
Truth!
“The more basic the things, the closer they are to the truth.”
“To truly understand the truth, to truly comprehend the truth, one must understand these basic things.”
This was something Wizard Somda had told him before, and Lynch always remembered.
The fundamental knowledge of Jade Land had almost all been absorbed by him. During the years in Fran, he often spent time in the academy’s library.
He originally thought his knowledge base was sufficiently rich, sometimes even proudly believing he’d mastered the majority of this world’s fundamental knowledge.
However, upon entering this library now, Lynch realized how naive his previous thoughts were.
So much content existed here that he had never encountered.
Brand new structures, arrangements never seen before, incredible bizarre combinations…
As these fresh contents unfolded before Lynch, he realized there were still so many new scenes on the Wizard’s Road that he hadn’t encountered.
In an instant, he seemed like a greedy beast, opening his big mouth and frantically starting his hunt…
…
The first layer of the Lost Tower, the Lost Library.
Unlike the area just experienced by Lynch, which was cleared in an instant, battles were going on fiercely in other corners of the library. The ghostly blue flames flickered, illuminating the tense and pale faces of young apprentices.
The glow of spells occasionally exploded bright, clashing with the myriad energies spewed from book covers, unleashing deafening roars. The air was filled with the scorched smell of magic power, the burning scent of book pages, and the heavy breaths of the apprentices.
One particular battle group appeared especially difficult.
Four or five apprentices wearing star-blue academy robes stood back-to-back forming a circle, surrounded by apprentice level shields of different colors, with magic wands or magic devices in hand continually shooting weak beams, Wind Blades, or ice shards, desperately trying to fend off the attack from more than ten frenzied magic books.
These books were like bloodthirsty moths, the patterns on their covers twisting and wriggling, spewing endless Zero-ring and First Ring magic, pressing the apprentices so hard they could barely breathe. Their shields flickered uncertainty, seemingly about to shatter at any moment.
And at the center of this small group, subconsciously protected by her companions, was the girl who had courageously handed Lynch a letter earlier — Lillian.
Her face was pale, lips tightly pressed, her hand gripping the magic wand so forcefully that her knuckles turned white, yet she continued to maintain a magic array emitting weak healing energy, trying to relieve her companions’ pressure.
“Watch out!” A male apprentice shouted in horror.
Three hardcover books engraved with sinister flame runes on their covers simultaneously lit up, three scorching Fireballs forming a triangle, tearing through the air, bringing deadly heat as they fiercely slammed forward! Their power was close to reaching the critical point of Second Rank magic!
This was definitely not something these ordinary apprentices could withstand!
Despair instantly seized Lillian and her companions. They could only watch helplessly as the flames of death rapidly enlarged in their vision, without even the time to make effective dodge moves.
At this critical moment—
Whoosh!
A fierce and unmatched azure tornado appeared abruptly from the side, arriving first, precisely sweeping over the three scorching Fireballs!
No explosion, no impact.
The three powerful Fireballs, along with the three books brewing the next attack, upon contact with the azure tornado, were like papers thrown into a shredder, silently torn apart, crushed, annihilated, turning into the most primitive magic particles, dispersing without a trace.
Then, the azure tornado didn’t lose momentum, as if possessing life, swirling dexterously, sweeping around Lillian’s team quickly!
Where it passed, those aggressively attacking them, regardless of what kind of spells they were releasing, disappeared without a trace like pencil marks erased by a rubber.
In just a few breaths, all threats were completely eliminated.
The apprentices, having narrowly escaped the crisis, were still shaken, gasping heavily, instinctively looking toward the direction from where the tornado came.
A figure had appeared unknowingly nearby.
With black short hair, a calm demeanor, gray eyes gazing toward a certain spot in the air—as though there was something only he could see.
He seemed to have passed by conveniently, solving the problem casually. He didn’t even spare a glance at these apprentices, only muttered under his breath, seemingly confirming something: “…Wind Spin Annihilation, the skill level did increase quite fast.”
As soon as he spoke, he did not linger, his figure like a gentle breeze, swiftly moving toward the spiral stone stairs leading to the upper layer of the library, disappearing in an instant among the shadows of towering bookshelves.
The whole process was as swift as lightning, from appearance to departure, taking only a few seconds.
It wasn’t until Lynch’s figure completely vanished that Lillian and her companions seemed to wake up from a dream.
“Just…just now was…” A male apprentice stammered, his face full of disbelief, “That was…Mr. Lynch?”
“What spell did he use just now? In an instant, he just…”
“That definitely was the power only an Official Wizard could master! And certainly not at the level of a beginner Wizard!” Another apprentice, slightly more knowledgeable, said excitedly, his eyes full of admiration and awe, “I’ve seen a First Rank Master Wizard in action, definitely not so… so effortlessly!”
“So Mr. Lynch is so powerful… we all thought he was only…”
The apprentices exclaimed endlessly, speculating about Lynch’s true strength, their tones filled with fear, relief, and genuine reverence for the strong.
Lillian stood at the spot, blankly gazing in Lynch’s disappearing direction, her hand still tightly clutching the magic wand that almost failed to release a spell. Her cheeks flushed with the tension from earlier and the current emotional surge, her heart pounding fast.
Only now did she realize that the handsome scholar who often sat quietly on the corridor benches reading, appearing even a bit aloof, was indeed such a powerful Official Wizard!
Thinking of how she previously harbored apprentice-like thoughts to deliver him a letter, her face burned with heat. But at the same time, a mix of shame, fear, and even stronger admiration quietly entwined around her heart like vines.
