Chapter 1520: Chapter 523: Jennifer’s Crisis (Part 2)
Could it be… something happened to Rein?
If not, this matter is hard to explain.
However, these were just thoughts in Jennifer’s mind, and she wouldn’t say them out loud.
“Bang!”
Suddenly, the room door was violently kicked open!
As a familiar figure crashed heavily against the bookshelf at the entrance, there was also a familiar muffled grunt.
“Lord Viery!” Georgia exclaimed!
It was Viery, Rein’s follower, who had been blasted through the door.
“Don’t go over!”
Lagaray grabbed the rushing Georgia, shook her head at her, and quickly picked up a single-handed axe and a large shield, solemnly guarding the beautiful woman Jennifer.
Years of experience in the business world made Jennifer remain composed in face of the situation, but her expression was just as serious, because after receiving the secret message from the Duke of Mingster, Jennifer had gathered her guards around the mansion.
Additionally, she had specially notified Viery, the follower of Rein and an employee at the Mingster Swordsmen Division.
What Jennifer did not expect was the opponent’s speed in coming and their formidable strength.
At this moment, the guards around the mansion were silent, obviously, except for Viery’s ability to offer slight resistance, the others had been silently taken out by the attackers.
“Quick! Take the lady and leave first!” Viery spoke with difficulty, spitting blood as he tried to get up.
“Tsk tsk, so you’re Viery, not bad strength, but unfortunately, you’ve met us.” A tall man in black armor, holding a knight’s sword, walked in, speaking.
But he wasn’t alone; three more men in black hoods followed one after another behind him.
Two of them wore wizard robes, exuding subtle waves of spiritual power, while the other wore a cloak, through the seams of which intricate patterns of gold and silver thread could be seen, resembling the custom-made attire often worn by high-ranking nobles.
“Titled Knight, Crystallization Wizard!”
Lagaray’s beautiful eyes narrowed slightly; she instantly knew these people must belong to some imperial powerhouse.
No wonder the ten elite guards arranged around the mansion had been quietly disposed of. If not for Viery being present, they might not have had time to react at all.
Only a top-level great noble power, equal to the Bavarian family of Mingster, could dispatch such a team for an operation.
“Oh? Rare beauties indeed, having a barbarian girl too, how wonderful.” The man in the cloak, seemingly a noble, looked at Jennifer and Lagaray with delight.
“So, you’re indeed targeting us, planning to use us to threaten Lord Rein?” Jennifer immediately grasped some understanding from the opponent’s words.
“Oh, staying calm, are you? Do you expect your Rein to rescue you, or are you counting on the Duke of Mingster to send reinforcements?” The opponent looked at them, seemingly relaxed, with a half-smile.
“It’s a pity, setting aside whether the Duke of Mingster would risk sending help, even if he did, our people would intercept them.”
“As for your Rein, he’s already struggling to save himself; you probably aren’t aware. Let me offer you an empire’s secret for free: your Lord Rein has been defeated and imprisoned by the Avatar of the Nether Sea Goddess, and he might never come back.”
The opponent waved a finger in front of them, in a tone that was suggestively playful.
Upon hearing this, both Jennifer and Lagaray felt a shock in their hearts, their expressions changed.
Did something really happen?
Moreover, the enemies were not only powerful but also highly knowledgeable about them, aware of the deep ties between Rein and the strongest Bavarian family in the Mingster Province.
“What? Still want to resist?”
“Here, this is the head of a resistor, he was quite strong and should be someone you know.” One of the Crystallization Wizards took out a fully petrified head from his arms.
The face on the head did not show terror, only eyes full of anger and unwillingness.
“Brother!” Georgia cried out, tears streaming down uncontrollably.
Had Lagaray not held her tightly, Georgia would have rushed forward by now.
“Oh? So that was your brother, such a pity.”
“Three beautiful ladies, if you surrender immediately, the Marquis might grant you a way out; otherwise, you’ll become beautiful statues in my garden.” The Crystallization Wizard holding the petrified head of Fandar spoke with a hint of flippancy.
“Go!”
At this moment, Jennifer seemed to press some device under the mahogany table, and a translucent barrier suddenly appeared in the room, separating them from the opponents.
Simultaneously, a layer of the wall behind Jennifer moved away, revealing a passageway.
“Trying to escape? How naive of you.”
One of the Crystallization Wizards raised a hand, and a sharp, conical stone pillar, several meters long, appeared in front and shot toward the translucent wall.
“Boom!”
The translucent curtain wall shook violently; though not shattered, it seemed to reach some sort of limit.
“Oh? It didn’t break?”
Just as this Crystallization Wizard prepared to attack again, suddenly, Viery dragged his injured body, swinging his greatsword, delivering a fierce Leap Slash downward.
“Clang!!!”
However, his attack was easily blocked by the armored man, who kicked him hard in the abdomen, sending him flying back, crashing through the wall, directly skidding onto the grass of the mansion’s front yard.
