Chapter 933: Chapter 334: Dawn and Thunder Bomb (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_3
“Lord Brandel, you’re too kind.”
Rein knew that the two cult attacks had caused severe losses to the Mingster Goddess Church, even costing Brandel his own younger brother. Naturally, he wouldn’t feel slighted because Brandel hadn’t paid a visit.
“Lord Rein, although I would love to chat with you a bit longer, your old friend, Bishop Shion, is waiting inside for you, and he has prepared a surprise for you.”
“Shall we…?” Brandel said with a smile.
“Of course, I haven’t seen Bishop Shion in quite some time either.” Rein indicated to Brandel to join him, pondering what the surprise might be that Brandel mentioned.
…
Thus, Rein and the elegant lady Jennifer, led by Punishment Knight Brandel, soon arrived at the prayer hall.
By now, the hall was already filled with quite a few nobles.
These were all well-informed individuals who understood the significance of Bishop Shion presiding over the event, with many of them requesting to visit voluntarily.
After a discussion between Bishop Shion and Brandel, they decided to expand the scale of the gathering and hold an awarding ceremony.
Just as Rein wondered why so many nobles would attend an informal banquet, an elder dressed in a water-blue robe trimmed with gold and holding a staff was walking in from the back of the hall.
It was Bishop Shion, whom he hadn’t seen in a long time.
“Bishop Shion, long time no see,” Rein respectfully bowed slightly.
“Viscount Rein, long time no see, your growth has exceeded my expectations!” Bishop Shion reciprocated and spoke with a hearty smile.
Rein was no longer the baron from Meist County, and even Bishop Shion had to observe proper etiquette, refraining from referring to Rein as a ‘child.’
….
Half an hour later.
After awarding several Knights with the Gold Shell Medals, the ceremony reached its climax.
“In multiple battles against the Black Flame Cult, Viscount Rein has made outstanding contributions. Especially in these last two instances, not only repelling the dark creatures’ attacks but also joining forces with the Duke and others to kill the cult’s Great Priest!”
“To commend Viscount Rein for his exceptional contributions in the fight against the cult, here, I, on behalf of the Goddess Church, confer upon Viscount Rein the Second-Class Goddess Medal!”
Bishop Shion passionately stated while picking up a fist-sized medal, shimmering with a bright silver glow, from the tray held by an attendant.
Only at this moment did Rein understand that the surprise Brandel had mentioned was this.
This Second-Class Goddess Medal was of great significance, being the highest level of medal that a provincial-level Goddess Church could award.
It was a notch above the Gold Shell Medal.
The Second-Class Goddess Medal was slightly larger than the previous Gold Shell Medal, made of mithril, and featured a vivid depiction of a goddess holding a shell.
“Viscount Rein, may the Goddess bless you.”
“Thank the Goddess, thank you, Bishop Shion!” Rein bowed in gratitude.
Bishop Shion solemnly pinned the medal onto Rein’s chest.
“Viscount Rein, please keep this Second-Class Goddess Medal safe, anywhere in the Empire where there’s a temple of the Monsoon and Ocean Goddess Church, you can receive help from the Goddess Church.”
“Additionally, this medal has not only solidified the Divine Art ‘Detect Evil’ but also the Divine Art ‘Blessing of the Goddess,’ although it can only be used once, it is quite powerful.”
Bishop Shion looked at Rein with a smiling face as he spoke.
After the awarding ceremony concluded.
Bishop Shion, Brandel, and Rein held a private conversation in a room.
“Bishop Shion, after you left, over at Meist…” Rein couldn’t help but ask.
“Rein, your acquaintance, Rudolph, will be succeeding me as Bishop of Meist,” Bishop Shion said with a smile.
“Oh, has Dean Rudolph been promoted too? That’s a good thing.”
“Right, Bishop Shion, Lord Brandel, I have an item this time that I hope you can help appraise,” Rein said as he opened a wooden box.
“Appraise?” Brandel said with a look of puzzlement.
They were both clergy, not appraisal masters.
Inside the box Rein opened lay a massive warhammer, blue and white in color, emanating a peculiar aura that immediately drew the two men’s attention and interest.
“I obtained this from the Black Flame Cult’s ancient strongman ‘Mong.’ From the feeling the warhammer gives me, it seems it might not be an artifact of the cult,” Rein slowly stated his conjecture.
“Indeed, it doesn’t match the Black Flame Cult’s style.”
Likewise skilled in using a dual-handed warhammer, Brandel was barely able to contain his excitement as he gently caressed the warhammer with his fingers.
“Rein, you mean…” Bishop Shion couldn’t help but ask.
“I’d like to ask if the two of you could check the church’s archives to see if there’s any record of this cult’s ancient strongman ‘Mong,’ and see if we can find any information about the warhammer’s origins.”
The Goddess Church was, without doubt, the most knowledgeable about the Black Flame Cult.
Previously, Rein had never considered bringing it to the church because he wasn’t familiar with the upper echelons of the Mingster Church.
But now things were different.
Both Bishop Shion and Brandel had unusual ties with him.
