Wizard: Stronger through Marriage - Chapter 734 - 322: Market Turmoil (Part 2)

Chapter 734: Chapter 322: Market Turmoil (Part 2)
“Wait a moment!”
The big man finally realized the situation had grown serious. He wanted to continue resisting, but it was already too late.
He couldn’t possibly evade the strong force. He hurriedly attempted to cast a defense spell, but it was all in vain.
With a loud boom, the magic sphere collided fiercely with his dark creatures, sparks flying and smoke rising momentarily.
As the smoke cleared, the big man fell to the ground in a mess, unable to get up.
He looked at Narcissus with shock, completely unaware that this Fourth-Ring Mage would strike against him.
What shocked him most was that Narcissus showed such a respectful expression when facing the wizard in front of him.
“Lord David, I’m late.”
“Not late at all, just in time.” David smiled slightly.
The market around was bustling with chatter, eyes focusing on David and Narcissus, as if it was all a meticulously arranged performance.
People were shocked and awed by David’s strength and his relationship with Narcissus, some secretly pondering their own disparities with these wizards.
The big man awkwardly climbed from the ground, already aware of his mistakes.
Facing such a formidable opponent, he no longer had the unbridled arrogance he had before.
Supporting himself with his hand, he looked up at David and Narcissus with deep unease.
“I… I just wanted that Silver Moonstone, not to be enemies with you.” His voice was low and trembling.
David smiled slightly, unaffected by the big man’s words, “Tell these things to the law enforcer.”
The big man’s face darkened again, eyes showing malice, his uncle was a market law enforcer and likewise a Fourth-Ring Mage.
As he thought of this, the law enforcer arrived just in time, led by the big man’s uncle.
The law enforcer walked into the market slowly; his figure was tall and authoritative, causing vendors around to bow their heads, not daring to look directly.
This man was indeed the big man’s uncle, named Herman, a well-respected Fourth-Ring Mage.
Seeing Narcissus and David present, his brows slightly furrowed, seemingly sensing the tense atmosphere in the air.
“Lord Narcissus, how come you’re here?” As soon as Herman saw Narcissus, he immediately changed his tone, extremely respectful.
Though he was a law enforcer, Narcissus represented the Wizard Alliance, a status he could not compare to, “I heard there was trouble in the market, so I came to check the situation.”
“The little dispute just now is nothing serious.” Narcissus smiled faintly, “However, I feel your nephew doesn’t seem to understand the rules.”
Herman’s gaze swept over his nephew, seeing him sitting on the ground, looking disheveled while those around glanced at him peculiarly.
His brows knitted, but to maintain his image and authority, he had to take action.
“You’re right.” Herman firmly stated, “As a law enforcer, I will ensure the safety and fairness of transactions in this market. My nephew indeed needs to reflect on his behavior properly.”
The big man quickly got up from the ground, looking at Herman for help.
“Shut up!” Herman coldly interrupted what the big man wanted to say, his deep and sharp eyes like winter frost suppressing the big man with nowhere to escape.
“Your behavior has already disappointed me. As a wizard, you chose to use threats to obtain transactions, which is not only disrespectful to the market but also a desecration of my reputation!”
“Uncle, I didn’t…”
The big man realized things were far more complicated than he imagined, but his voice had become incredibly weak, unable to argue no more.
“Then, let this matter end here.” Herman turned to Narcissus, speaking with extreme respect and humility.
“If my nephew acts similarly in the future, please let me know. I’ll handle it personally to ensure it doesn’t happen again.”
David watched this all calmly, squinting his eyes as he said, “So, you’re not planning to follow the rules?”
At this moment, Herman turned his gaze towards David, his brows slightly furrowing; he noticed the relationship between Narcissus and this wizard.
“Of course, I will.”
Herman’s tone slightly softened but remained vigilant, “But please don’t forget, here, as a law enforcer, I am responsible for maintaining market order and security.”
“Order and security?” David’s lips curled into a cold smile.
“But what I just witnessed was your nephew openly challenging me, and you choose to ignore it when you’re present. Such a law enforcer seems incapable of maintaining true order.”
People around turned their heads, tension filling the air.
Herman’s heart jolted; he realized this confrontation was not only about him personally but also about his reputation and future.
“I understand your concern, but please believe, I’ll absolutely handle all these matters properly.” Herman tried to steady the situation.
“Handle properly?” David coldly laughed, “If you don’t take timely measures, people will only see you as a nominal enforcer here rather than someone with real ability to uphold justice.”
Herman took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.
He knew if he couldn’t demonstrate his authority at this moment, his position might be further weakened by Narcissus and David.
“But this isn’t my fault,” he struggled to defend himself, “Though my nephew is immature, he simply sought a transaction. I hope you give him a chance to correct his mistakes.”
“Opportunities ought to be given.” David remarked casually, “But rules are rules.”
The crowd quieted down again, they could see this wasn’t just a simple small dispute, but part of the power struggle between two wizards.
The difference being, David seemed to hold more power and authority.
Herman’s face showed annoyance, glancing at Narcissus, “Lord Narcissus, is this also your opinion?”
Narcissus looked at Herman with some pity, this law enforcer clearly didn’t know he had provoked the wrong people.
“It is my opinion.” At that moment, David spoke calmly.
The air around seemed to freeze, people holding their breath, anticipating the next development.
Herman’s heart tightened, sensing the intense pressure from David’s tone.
“Lord Narcissus.” Herman tried to remain composed, “I hope you understand my position. As a law enforcer, I am obliged to maintain market order and ensure all parties’ interests are protected. Under such circumstances, I must review my nephew’s actions rather than hastily declaring him guilty.”
“Review?” David raised a brow, rebuking again: “If you truly want to review, you should start reflecting fundamentally on your management skills. Your nephew openly provoked here today, and you chose silence; isn’t that condoning his behavior?”
Herman evidently felt angry but couldn’t refute.
“I’ll reconsider my work,” he said, “but hope you give me some time.”
“Time?” David sneered, “Time won’t change facts. You law enforcers stay in the power center yet never truly enter the market to understand the people’s needs.”
Finally, the law enforcer showed an irritated expression.
The next moment, an intense wave of magic power surged from him, pressing directly towards David.
But almost instantly, he felt an even stronger wave of magic power pressing back at him, astonishment appearing on his face.
Under the pressure of this force, the magic within him showed signs of collapse, both forces weren’t on the same level, making him lose any thought of resistance.
