Wreck Me - Page 190
“I don’t care.”
I look at the clear sky above as if there’s a hidden answer.
He steps between my legs, cupping my face. “I want to spend the rest of my life with you, but if we just have days, then I’ll take those too. If we live a long or short life, it doesn’t matter because if yours ends, mine will end. But while we live, let me love you. I promise you myself. All of me. My love for you is unconditional and endless. I’m ready and willing to sacrifice everything. I’d do whatever it takes to be there along with the good and the bad on our journey. As long as we’re together, I don’t care about anything else.”
From my brief interactions with everyone in their group, I realize that none of them fucking knows what the other is truly up to.
I start with Celine and message her. She responds, telling me she’ll stop by after their dinner. I’m walking on damn nails, not knowing what is happening.
When Celine comes by, I open the door, raking a hand through my hair.
“Tell me what you’re planning.”
“First, tell me what you did to her?”
“That’s between me and Abigail, but she told me what they did to her, and now I’m one step away from setting this world on fire.”
“You have a penchant for it.”
Fuck it all. I dash past her and head toward my car. I’ll fucking find Felix, kill him, and be done when she grips my elbow.
“Dane, listen to me.”
“You don’t get it, I saw her… I…” A shudder rocks me, wanting to find the one responsible for hurting Abigail.
“There is a lot at stake, and if you do something reckless, you will put us all in danger.”
“I am not a patient guy.” Not when it comes to my woman, especially after all the lost time.
“Can I trust you?” she asks.
“You can.”
“Don’t blow this.”
“I won’t.”
Celine’s phone pings with a message. She types quickly.
“One more thing. The group has to accept you.”
“Whatever.”
“Bye.”
They will have to accept me.
Abigail told me we’d talk later, and that I should spend some time with my family before they leave. But I’m too wired, so I go back into the house and enter my gym, where I work out until exhaustion wins.
The next morning, I drive to their house.
Celine is the one who opens the door.
Abigail sighs as I walk inside.
“I made my decision, princess,” I reply.
“Abi, listen. He is going to do something regardless. Don’t you want to keep an eye on him?” Celine asks.
