Yuan's Ascension - Chapter 1055: Who Chronicles A Hundred Samsaras (1)

Chapter 1055: Who Chronicles A Hundred Samsaras (1)
“His hope of success is greater than ours?” That powerful consciousness spoke softly, “This is the difference between you and me. Your strength surpasses mine and you’ve perfected your self-created Dao, getting a glimpse of the path ahead. Yet you still seek other routes.
“I admit this Wu Yuan is impressive, as are the other Primordium-born you’ve chosen. Perhaps even more monstrous prodigies will emerge in the future… and maybe they truly can blaze a trail.
“But I never place my hopes in others. I believe only in myself!” An unshakable conviction resonated from that mighty consciousness.
It was an eternal will, forged through countless samsara cycles of heaven and earth since the origin of all things. Supreme and peerless!
“Big Brother, our paths differ,” Eldritch Progenitor Hou Tu’s voice remained gentle. “Just as Goddess Nüwa sacrificed her own path to seek the way forward. Even knowing failure was certain, she still went.
“Our paths diverge. We cannot move forth together.
“Wu Yuan is but one of the many fruits of my labor,” Eldritch Progenitor Hou Tu said lightly.
That powerful consciousness fell silent.
At their level, there was no right or wrong – only one’s devotion to their own path. At the end of one’s path might lie an insurmountable wall, or an endless abyss… Once set, a path could not be changed.
“By the way, Old Wan Yu just sent word,” the powerful consciousness abruptly changed topics. “He is seeking our approval to record Wu Yuan’s battle in the Eternal Register.”
“The Eternal Register?” A rare hint of amusement colored Eldritch Progenitor Hou Tu’s voice. “Tell him to go ahead. The Eternal Register draws upon the providence of those it records, but does it not also lend its own providence in turn?”
“Mm, very well. Having his name etched in the Eternal Register may be a form of aid,” that powerful consciousness replied.
…
The cosmic sea stretched vast and limitless, filled with countless bizarre celestial bodies. No eternal lifeform could explore its farthest reaches, not even Dao Zenithel Eternals.
Only the Primordial Rules, omnipresent yet untraceable, enveloped the entire cosmic sea. It didn’t matter where one hid; wherever matter and spacetime existed, all operated under the Primordial Rules.
The River of Universes that encompassed thirty-six universes was the very core of the cosmic sea. Here, the power of the Primordial Rules reigned supreme. The River of Universes was the absolute nucleus of the boundless cosmic sea.
However, the vast cosmic sea had also nurtured countless naturally-born eternal lifeforms. Their struggles, cultivation, and adventures brought endless wonder to the cosmic sea.
Since the origin of all things, with each samsara cycle of heaven and earth, lifeforms from the River of Universes came into existence, grew, and rose to prominence, gradually standing at the pinnacle of the cosmic sea.
The majority of the first generation of Dao Masters were universe-born lifeforms. But even though the breakthrough odds of naturally-born eternal lifeforms were low, some unimaginable existences who managed to defy the heavens still emerged from their innumerable numbers.
In the depths of the cosmic sea, far from the River of Universes.
Here, a vast and magnificent realm had been carved out, resembling a miniature universe at first glance. But closer inspection revealed that the rules within differed sharply from a true universe. It was unable to nurture mortal lifeforms or sempiternal lifeforms, and only numerous eternal lifeforms dwelled here.
Deep within this realm stretched a vast expanse of outer space.
“Master, Eldritch Progenitor Di Jiang just sent word, agreeing to Wu Yuan’s inclusion in the register.” A figure clad in star-forged armor, towering ten thousand li tall, strode through the void. Each step crossed untold millions of light years as he approached a temple. His voice was transmitted over a hundred million light years in an instant. It was all impossibly bizarre.
The temple loomed majestically before him. It didn’t appear particularly tall at first, but careful observation revealed countless overlapping layers of spacetime. Its true size was surely inconceivably vast.
He stood respectfully outside the temple.
Rustle~ The sound of turning pages could be heard from within. Then, a streak of light flew out.
Rumble~ The moment it emerged, the entire realm trembled subtly. The figure in star-forged armor turned to see that the vast expanse of outer space, spanning billions or ten of billions of light years, suddenly split down the middle as if it were merely a book – the register had opened.
“Who chronicles a hundred samsaras? Across the nine megaverses, this register stands eternal.”
These thirteen ancient words appeared on the surface of that universe-like book. Each character seemed capable of obscuring vast swaths of outer space, as if embodying the Great Dao, containing boundless Dao resonance. The pressure made heaven and earth tremble.
A Xuanhuang Dao Treasure! The Eternal Register. The figure in star-forged armor gazed in awe, knowing he beheld one of the legendary supreme artifacts.
This was one of the ultimate treasures that shook the endless megaverse. The registrar, his master, was likewise one of the peak existences in the entire megaverse, a great eternal being.
Whoosh! Lights flashed through the vast outer space, as if a giant brush had been wielded, and an ancient character materialized out of thin air.
“Wu!”
This character seemed to possess an astonishing power, radiating blinding light. Beneath its form, faint traces of Dao resonance pulsed.
The figure in star-forged armor watched with bated breath. Even for him, such a sight was rare. Eternal lifeforms were commonly recorded, with all True Saints being included. But sempiternal lifeforms? Those were far rarer, perhaps not even one per samsara cycle of heaven and earth.
Whoosh! Once more, myriad lights flashed, as if someone wielded a cosmic brush.
“Yuan!”
A second character appeared, joining with the first to form a name – Wu Yuan.
Now we’ll see if this peerless genius of the Eldritch Court can withstand the might of the Eternal Register. The figure in star-forged armor mused.
Not just anyone could have their name recorded in the Eternal Register. Even if the registrar was willing to write it, the subject had to be able to bear the pressure. This was one reason hardly any sempiternal lifeforms were recorded.
Whoosh! The two newly written ancient characters, emanating vast and majestic ripples, immediately flew into that universe-book.
Rumble~ It was as if a massive boulder had plunged into a pond, instantly churning up massive waves. The moment the two ancient characters touched the Eternal Register, the entire expanse of outer space shuddered violently.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! The thirteen words on the Eternal Register’s surface began to glow one by one. With each character’s illumination, the turbulence in outer space diminished slightly.
A name etched in eternity, the radiance of the register? The figure in star-forged armor watching from afar by the temple gaped in astonishment.
This was a scene befitting a True Saint’s inclusion. A mere sempiternal lifeform could achieve this?
In the end, nine of the thirteen words on the Eternal Register’s surface had to shine before outer space finally stabilized, allowing the characters “Wu” and “Yuan” to enter the book.
Rumble~ Myriad wondrous phenomena manifested in outer space, grand and boundless, as the Eternal Register slowly closed.
All fell quiet.
Mere inclusion sparked the radiance of nine words? The figure in star-forged armor grew increasingly shocked. Who in the world is this Wu Yuan? He must harbor some great secret for the Eternal Register to struggle this much just to record his name.
To his knowledge, even True Saints rarely triggered more than six characters upon inclusion. How could a sempiternal lifeform ignite nine?
Boom! Suddenly, a message was transmitted directly into the mind of the figure in star-forged armor.
“The Samsara Rankings? Understood!” The figure in star-forged armor bowed respectfully and swiftly departed that expanse of outer space.
…
In the Creation Dao Realm, Wu Yuan and Overlord Huan Jin were flying at high speed through outer space.
With their strength, as long as they avoided certain dangerous exploration sites, they could easily traverse the Dao Realm at top speed.
“Wu Yuan, you are truly my good luck charm,” Overlord Huan Jin transmitted with a smile. “We’ve encountered almost no danger throughout this entire journey. When I traveled alone on my way here, I ran into quite a few obstacles.”
“Perhaps I’m just lucky,” Wu Yuan laughed.
Little did Overlord Huan Jin know that Wu Yuan had a map of the entire Dao Realm thanks to Bai Sui. Though he couldn’t share it openly, he could subtly steer their path to avoid danger as they traveled.
Rumble~ Out of nowhere, an invisible yet vast ripple was transmitted through endless spacetime. This ripple involved no energy, but originated from the Destiny Voidscape – the power of destiny.
It pierced straight into Wu Yuan’s body refiner self. Like a giant hammer crashing down on one’s head, Wu Yuan stumbled, his Yuan Soul trembling unceasingly.
Hum~ Within Wu Yuan’s internal world, the Ancestral Pagoda’s image appeared spontaneously. Layer upon layer of light spread out, instantly stabilizing his world while swiftly anchoring Wu Yuan’s ether body.
As an Ancestral Pagoda Archon, this strand of the Ancestral Pagoda’s power possessed protective abilities, nearly rivaling soul-type Xiantian artifacts.
Hmm? Who’s ambushing… The Eternal Register? Wu Yuan was startled at first, thinking some super powerhouse had launched a sneak attack on his soul. But he quickly received the message contained within that ripple.
Wu Yuan sensed his destiny forming a faint, almost imperceptible connection with some mysterious object beyond endless spacetime.
“Wu Yuan, what’s wrong? Were you attacked?” Overlord Huan Jin was alarmed and quickly asked.
She swept her gaze vigilantly in all directions, her perception spreading out, yet failed to detect anything wrong.
“I wasn’t attacked,” Wu Yuan said in a low voice. “It was the Eternal Register. I just received a message saying I’ve been recorded in the Eternal Register.”
The message transmitted through destiny was very simple, without much explanation.
“The Eternal Register? The legendary Eternal Register?” Overlord Huan Jin’s expression turned to astonishment. “You’re still merely a sempiternal lifeform, yet your name has been recorded?”
Earlier, when news of Wu Yuan’s battle had spread, many Overlords thought Wu Yuan might be recorded in the Eternal Register, but it was merely speculation; no one dared to be certain. After all, the power Wu Yuan had displayed wasn’t that terrifying yet.
“Eternal Register?” Wu Yuan looked towards Overlord Huan Jin.
“That’s right, although you’ve become an Overlord, hardly any time has passed. You probably haven’t joined a council meeting yet, and likely haven’t entered the Eldritch Progenitor Hall,” Overlord Huan Jin smiled. “Once you peruse the intelligence archives with Overlord-level authorization, you would likely know a thing or two about it.”
Wu Yuan listened quietly.
“You should know that the cosmic sea is vast, not just limited to the hundreds of Saintdoms in our River of Universes,” Overlord Huan Jin said. “Legend has it that there’s a super faction in the cosmic sea called Wan Yu Tower. Though not as powerful as our Eldritch Court, its overall strength far surpasses ordinary Saintdoms.”
Wan Yu Tower? Wu Yuan silently noted it down.
If he were to venture into the cosmic sea in the future, these were all factions he would have to face.
