Yuan's Ascension - Chapter 1063: The Decision Of The Demon Moon Temple

Chapter 1063: The Decision Of The Demon Moon Temple
“Not inferior to Overlord Ye Mi’s inheritance?” Astral Monarch Dong Yang was momentarily stunned, but quickly understood.
In his view, Wu Yuan’s current power was no less than that of the late Overlord Ye Mi. Even if his cultivation time was shorter, he had reached the same cultivation level, so the inheritance he created naturally wouldn’t be too inferior.
“Alright, I’ll give it a try,” he said. “However, I must say, life is truly unpredictable. Back then, you embarked on the Celestial Body Dao, which was the path I guided you onto,” Astral Monarch Dong Yang said with a smile. “Now, the teacher finds himself being guided by the student.”
“Master once said that the disciple need not be inferior to the teacher,” Wu Yuan replied with a smile.
“Haha, that’s right,” Astral Monarch Dong Yang laughed heartily. “The greatest joy for a teacher is watching his disciple grow stronger and stronger.
“Taking you as my disciple was truly the smartest thing I’ve done in my life.”
Without further hesitation, Astral Monarch Dong Yang reached out to touch the divine slip. As his Yuan Soul’s power entered it, vast information flooded into Astral Monarch Dong Yang’s Yuan Soul.
It was complex, vast, and profound! As soon as he made contact, Astral Monarch Dong Yang was struck with astonishment, followed by deep shock, and then grew completely entranced.
It was truly marvelous; this level of insight surpassed his own by more than a hundredfold or thousandfold.
It took a full ten days before Astral Monarch Dong Yang fully regained his senses. His eyes were filled with excitement and awe.
“Ming Jian, this inheritance of yours…” Astral Monarch Dong Yang couldn’t help but look at Wu Yuan, his gaze completely transformed.
Though the inheritance transmission lasted only ten days, it had fundamentally altered Astral Monarch Dong Yang’s understanding in many areas.
His insights into the Law of Life, Law of Death, and even the Creation Dao had undergone earth-shattering changes. It could be called a metamorphosis without exaggeration.
“Master, how was it?” Wu Yuan smiled.
“Extremely powerful, far more impressive than some of the inheritance teachings I’ve encountered in the divine court headquarters,” Astral Monarch Dong Yang said solemnly.
He couldn’t help but add, “Wu Yuan, I’ve also come into contact with Overlord inheritances and learned quite a few Overlord-level teachings, but truly, I fear none of them can match up to this inheritance of yours.
“Was this inheritance bestowed by an eternal lifeform?” Astral Monarch Dong Yang asked curiously.
“This is simply a summary of insights from my own cultivation,” Wu Yuan replied with a smile.
“Yours?” Astral Monarch Dong Yang’s pupils contracted slightly in disbelief.
He knew Wu Yuan was powerful, but logically, no matter how strong his abilities, they should still be within the realm of sempiternal lifeforms. His cultivation insights shouldn’t surpass those of Overlords who had cultivated for billions of years. At least, there shouldn’t be such a qualitative difference!
“Master, I’ve had some fortuitous encounters,” Wu Yuan said with a smile.
He didn’t explain further.
Indeed, in terms of Dao comprehension level alone, Wu Yuan’s body refiner self was currently only at the eighth-level Creation Dao Field stage.
However, having experienced the baptism of over a thousand Dao Pioneer Eternal inheritances, Wu Yuan’s entire cognition had undergone a complete transformation. This was also the reason why his body refiner self had progressed so terrifyingly quickly. It was not solely due to bearing a strand of the Great Dao’s Authority.
Limited by the Primordial Oath and also by his own cultivation level, Wu Yuan couldn’t impart the inheritances of those Eternals to his master. But what he had integrated himself and summarized from his own insights, he could pass on.
In terms of guidance and direction, the cultivation insights Wu Yuan had gathered far surpassed those of ordinary Overlords.
It could be said that if Wu Yuan were to wholeheartedly dedicate himself to leaving behind a Dao comprehension inheritance based on his self-created ultimate move, the Wheel of Life and Death, its guiding effect for many Astral Monarchs and Sovereigns would be no less than the guidance provided by the inheritances of many Dao Pioneer Eternals.
“Ming Jian, you have indeed reached an inconceivable level,” Astral Monarch Dong Yang couldn’t help but marvel.
When his disciple first entered the Megaverse Crossroads years ago, the gap between them wasn’t so large. But after more than 80,000 years, it was now like the difference between clouds and mud.
“Ming Jian, I have a feeling that I should be able to fully comprehend the Law of Life,” Astral Monarch Dong Yang suddenly said.
“Oh?” Wu Yuan’s heart immediately surged with joy. He knew Master Dong Yang had immense talent.
Back when the Megaverse Crossroads ended, Master Dong Yang had already reached the limit of the Astral Monarch phase, just one step away from becoming a Sovereign.
However, crossing this step was extremely difficult. Many Astral Monarchs remained stuck for billions of years, unable to break through.
In the tens of thousands of years since the Megaverse Crossroads ended, Master Dong Yang had not managed to break through.
But today, he finally saw hope. Once he broke through, everything would be different.
In the vast universe, an Astral Monarch was only considered to have crossed the threshold of a super powerhouse. Though possessing a lifespan lasting an entire samsara cycle of heaven and earth, most were confined to their macrocosms.
But a Sovereign, being a late-stage sempiternal lifeform, could roam the universe freely with their own power. They could venture into many universe exploration sites, and truly had hope of comprehending the Great Daos and pursuing eternity.
“It’s just a feeling though. To break through, I’ll likely need to seclude myself in cultivation for some time before there’s any hope of success,” Astral Monarch Dong Yang said with a smile.
“With Master’s talent, you will surely succeed in one go,” Wu Yuan smiled and said. “There are many side halls in this hall, some of which have arrays and meditation platforms to aid in cultivation. Master can seclude yourself in one of them for closed-door cultivation.
“When Martial Aunt emerges from seclusion, I will send word to Master.”
“Haha, good,” Astral Monarch Dong Yang was in high spirits. “If I break through, it will be largely thanks to you.”
“It is all Master’s hard work,” Wu Yuan shook his head and said. “My inheritance is merely an external aid. Even without it, Master would still be able to break through successfully after more years of cultivation.”
This was the truth. If one wasn’t diligent enough, even the best external conditions would be useless.
“Haha, let’s not argue anymore. Alright, I won’t delay any further,” Astral Monarch Dong Yang looked at Wu Yuan. “Let’s hope I can succeed in one attempt this time. If so, I’ll have more confidence the next time I see your grandmaster.”
“When Grandmaster learns of this, he will surely be delighted as well,” Wu Yuan said with a smile.
Soon after, Wu Yuan made various arrangements, bringing out some treasures to set up an excellent meditation chamber with cultivation-aiding arrays in one of the side halls.
Astral Monarch Dong Yang flew into the meditation chamber. Then, the chamber doors slowly closed.
Only Wu Yuan remained in the main hall. A smile appeared on his face. “I hope Master can break through in one go. That would be a great accomplishment.”
In Wu Yuan’s heart, his mother and sister naturally came first, followed closely by his two masters.
With his help, his mother had obtained some cosmic treasures, shedding her mortal body maintained by medicinal pills. She could now cultivate as well, though her cultivation level was still low.
His sister had always been diligent in her cultivation, and had now reached the threshold of Archimmortal.
If he achieved eternity or even became a Dao Master one day, he would be able to help his closest kin reach the Sovereign phase. This was something True Saints could accomplish.
Historically, almost all living close relatives and favored individuals of True Saints later became Sovereigns.
However, even the power of eternal lifeforms had its limits. The river of space and time ultimately had an end. Even one as great as Eldritch Progenitor Hou Tu found it difficult to help others transcend and escape samsara.
They will most likely pass away. I cannot hope for them to achieve eternity. Wu Yuan silently mused. But my masters and grandmaster are completely different.
They could reach the Sovereign phase through their own efforts. If Wu Yuan were to break through in the future, with his full assistance, Astral Monarch Dong Yang, Sovereign Kua Chi and the others would all have a chance of becoming Overlords.
Once they became Overlords, with a bit of luck, they would have hope of becoming Perennial Eternals.
Eternity! I shall certainly do my utmost. Wu Yuan’s heart was filled with longing. He casually sat down on the jade platform and began to cultivate.
Wu Yuan already thought it through – what his body refiner self needed to do now was to reach the ninth-level Creation Dao Field stage as quickly as possible.
If he couldn’t even comprehend a single Great Dao to its limit, what right did he have to talk about Dao pioneering?
…
Wu Yuan and Astral Monarch Dong Yang waited for Astral Monarch Ji Shuang to emerge from Overlord Ye Mi’s grotto.
Meanwhile, in the Demon Moon Voidrealm, the highest level voidrealm of the Demon Moon Temple with coverage spanning the entire universe.
In a massive hall at the very core.
“Overlord, that is how things transpired,” Sovereign Qiu Yan completed his report with a slight bow. “I am ashamed. When Sovereign Xuan Yu and I arrived, we were killed in a single sword strike from that mysterious Overlord.”
The hall then fell silent.
Besides Sovereign Qiu Yan, the avatars of Sovereign Guan Po and Sovereign Xuan Yu were also present, though their status was clearly much lower.
At the end of the temple, seated upon a lofty throne, was an imposing figure in purple robes. His gaze seemed to contain the vastness of outer space as he looked down at the few figures below.
“Do any of you have anything to add?
“If not, then let me summarize what you’ve reported.” The purple-robed Overlord’s voice boomed: “First, he stealthily infiltrated the core of Sovereign Guan Po’s grotto, and could easily cross hundreds of millions of light-years in one step… He must have fully comprehended the Law of Space at least.
“Second, he can violate Great Dao Oaths without fear.
“Third, he killed Sovereign Qiu Yan’s mana body with a single sword strike, indicating he can unleash ninth-stage Sovereign combat power within a macrocosm at minimum.
“Fourth, he came to rescue Astral Monarch Dong Yang, so he was most likely invited by Overlord Ming Jian from the Ling Jiang Universe.”
The few Sovereigns listened quietly.
“So, to sum up, there are two possibilities,” the purple-robed Overlord slowly said. “First, he is a native powerhouse of the Qiu Yan Macrocosm, with suspected ninth-stage Sovereign combat power, and possessing an ultimate treasure that can resist the constraints of Great Dao Oaths!
“But this possibility is very small.
“Second, he is a peak third-stage Overlord or higher,” the purple-robed Overlord continued slowly. “Suspected to be a sword user, has at least fully comprehended the Law of Space, and has an ultimate treasure that can resist Great Dao Oaths…”
“The Overlord is most perceptive,” Sovereign Qiu Yan quickly said. “I hope the temple can uphold justice for us.”
In his heart, he truly harbored hatred towards this mysterious enemy. One of his mana bodies had perished, and he had lost quite a few treasures.
However, the one thing Sovereign Qiu Yan was grateful for was that hadn’t sent his true self at the time. Otherwise, he would have truly perished.
“Uphold justice?” The purple-robed Overlord shook his head lightly. “Let’s not even discuss how we’re going to find him. Even if we did find him, so what?
“If our Demon Moon Temple really went to war, could we win?” the purple-robed Overlord said calmly.
Sovereign Qiu Yan, Sovereign Guan Po, and Sovereign Xuan Yu were momentarily stunned. But after brief analysis, they knew their chances of victory were slim.
There were nearly ten Overlords Demon Moon Temple’s ranks, but only one possessed third-stage Overlord strength.
“Furthermore, he rescued someone while concealing his aura and avoiding large-scale slaughter. This indicates he doesn’t want you to discover his true identity, and is unwilling to make an enemy of our Demon Moon Temple over such a trivial matter,” the purple-robed Overlord said, shaking his head. “You’ve only lost mana bodies. Do you really want to start a war and provoke such a formidable foe?
“This mysterious Overlord likely came here on business. More importantly, he’s on good terms with that Overlord Ming Jian, a monstrous prodigy with the potential for eternity.” The purple-robed Overlord shook his head gently.
“Though our Demon Moon Temple doesn’t fear him, there’s no need to make him a mortal enemy. At the core of the matter, you are the ones in the wrong to begin with.”
Silence fell as Sovereign Qiu Yan, Sovereign Guan Po, and the others exchanged glances.
“Qiu Yan,” the purple-robed Overlord said flatly.
“Overlord,” Sovereign Qiu Yan responded respectfully.
“One top-grade Dao Instrument will be taken from your Qiu Yan Macrocosm’s treasury,” the purple-robed Overlord said, looking down at him. “Two more top-grade Dao Instruments will be added from the temple’s treasury. These three top-grade Dao Instruments will be sent to the Ling Jiang Universe as compensation and an apology to Overlord Ming Jian.”
“Are you willing?” the purple-robed Overlord asked coolly.
Willing? Of course he wasn’t, but did he dare say so?
“I am willing,” Sovereign Qiu Yan said, his heart bleeding.
Not only had his mana body perished, but now he had to compensate with a top-grade Dao Instrument. In his mind, he cursed Sovereign Guan Po viciously.
“Don’t feel reluctant. Three top-grade Dao Instruments mean little to Overlord Ming Jian. It merely represents our Demon Moon Temple’s attitude. I believe Overlord Ming Jian will be willing to put aside this grievance,” the purple-robed Overlord said, shaking his head. “I will also ask Overlord Ming Jian to intervene and have that mysterious Overlord refrain from further slaughter.
“This matter ends here. Also, you are not to leak any information about that mysterious Overlord. Understood?” The purple-robed Overlord gazed down at them.
“Yes.”
“Yes,” Sovereign Qiu Yan, Sovereign Guan Po and the others responded respectfully, slightly relieved.
…
In the distant Ling Jiang Universe, within the Greenridge Macrocosm.
Resolve the grievance? Wu Yuan’s qi refiner self quickly received a message from Overlord Xin Ya.
He understood the Demon Moon Temple’s stance. Three top-grade Dao Instruments? After some consideration, Wu Yuan agreed. Though he didn’t fear the Demon Moon Temple, there was no need to stubbornly clash with a Saintdom if unnecessary. The losses would outweigh the gains.
“Overlord Xin Ya, tell the Demon Moon Temple I’ll have that Overlord friend cease his actions,” Wu Yuan messaged Overlord Xin Ya.
Wu Yuan had revealed that the mysterious Overlord was his body refiner to Master Dong Yang out of necessity. As for others? The less they knew, the better.
This storm passed quietly, with no other Saintdoms aware of the conflict between Wu Yuan and the Demon Moon Temple.
…
Time flowed like water, and over a hundred years passed in the blink of an eye.
Wu Yuan’s body refiner self waited patiently in the Qiu Yan Macrocosm. To him, it mattered little where he cultivated.
I’m drawing ever closer to the ninth-level Dao Field stage. Wu Yuan cultivated steadily.
Hmm? A hint of surprise flashed in Wu Yuan’s eyes as he sensed subtle changes in the distant meditation chamber.
A smile tugged at his lips. Master has broken through?
Wu Yuan didn’t intentionally pry, but as the master of the Dao Instrument hall, he clearly sensed the fleeting fluctuations of the complete Law of Life from Master Dong Yang’s meditation chamber. He was successful.
Master is likely still in deep cultivation. Wu Yuan smiled faintly, not disturbing him.
The period after breaking through to fully comprehend a Greater Law was the perfect time for focused cultivation.
As the years passed, Wu Yuan and Astral Monarch Dong Yang both cultivated in solitude.
In the blink of an eye, over six hundred years had passed since Astral Monarch Ji Shuang entered the Overlord’s grotto.
On this day, outside the hall, the massive star that had always been relatively calm suddenly began to tremble. Following that, waves of astonishing spatial fluctuations rippled outward in all directions. This change was instantly noticed by Wu Yuan.
Martial Aunt has finally emerged.
Hmm? Something seems unusual. Wu Yuan sensed Astral Monarch Ji Shuang flying out of the spatial passage deep within the star.
Her aura and bearing seemed to have undergone no small change. However, her brow was furrowed with obvious discontent.
“Master, Martial Aunt is out,” Wu Yuan immediately messaged Astral Monarch Dong Yang.
