10,000x Rebate System: Every Return Makes Me Stronger
Chapter 185: Strange Quest
Amon walked out of the Adventurer Bureau while looking down at his phone.
The message from Marielle was still open on the screen, and the more he looked at it, the more curious he became.
’....What did she find in that page?’
He had already asked her about it, but Marielle had refused to explain anything through the phone.
She had only told him that she would tell him everything properly when he returned to the capital.
Amon let out a quiet sigh. "She’s really good at keeping people curious."
He slipped the phone into his pocket and continued walking along the sidewalk.
The streets were relatively busy. A few mana-powered carriages passed by, their wheels producing a soft humming sound against the paved road.
After walking for several minutes, Amon finally reached his bike. He unlocked it and sat down, resting his hands on the handlebars.
His mind immediately returned to Sidney. ’I’ll take her to the dungeon next week.’
There wasn’t enough time today.
They were supposed to return to the capital tonight, and he still had several things to take care of before leaving.
He didn’t want to rush Sidney into a dungeon simply because she was excited.
Amon rubbed the back of his neck. ’So what am I supposed to do with the rest of today?’
He stared ahead for a moment before a familiar thought entered his mind.
Amon frowned. "You haven’t given me a quest in a while, system."
The system remained silent.
"Seriously?" Amon sighed. "Why don’t you give me something to do?"
The familiar translucent screen suddenly appeared in front of him.
---
[New Quest Generated]
[Quest: Hunt the Blood]
Objective: Kill a Vampire.
Time Limit: None.
Reward: ???
---
Amon stared at the screen as his expression slowly became curious. "A vampire?"
The quest remained unchanged.
There was no additional information or explanation.
Amon frowned. ’Why does the System want me to kill a vampire?’
He had already suspected that vampires were operating within the capital. The timing was far too convenient.
Amon dismissed the screen and started his bike. The engine came alive with a low mechanical hum as he pulled onto the road.
As he drove through the streets, Amon couldn’t help thinking about the strange behavior of his System.
The System also seems strangely interested in the elves.
The Spirit Lord Physique was the biggest example.
The physique was connected to spiritual energy and was apparently the same physique possessed by the Mother of All Elves.
And then the System suddenly wanted him to kill a vampire.
Amon frowned. ’..Is there some connection?’
He shook his head. "Maybe I’m overthinking it."
There was no point connecting every strange event before he had enough information.
Still, the thought refused to completely leave his mind.
Amon continued driving until he eventually arrived back at his apartment. The moment he parked his bike, his phone began ringing.
He pulled it out and saw Felicia’s name on the screen.
Amon answered the call. "Hello?"
Felicia’s voice came from the other side. "We got all the permissions."
Amon smiled slightly. "Already?"
"Yes. The paperwork has been accepted, and we can continue with the construction without worrying about unnecessary problems."
"That’s good." Amon walked toward the entrance of the apartment building. "Is there anything I can help you with?"
Felicia immediately answered. "Stay away from trouble."
Amon stopped for a moment. "That’s it?"
"That’s it." She sounded completely serious. "You’ve already done enough recently. Don’t go looking for another problem."
Amon chuckled. "I don’t go looking for problems."
Felicia scoffed as she continued after a brief pause. "If you have the time, you can look for another mana-rich piece of land."
Amon raised an eyebrow. "Another one?"
"Yes. If you find something valuable, tell me before you tell anyone else."
Amon shrugged as he entered the building. "I’ll look into it. I’ll try to find some new ones."
"Good." Felicia paused before adding another reminder. "And get ready for your classes."
Amon sighed. "Why are you acting like my mother?"
"Because I am old enough to be one."
Amon walked up the stairs toward his apartment.
After a moment, another thought occurred to him. "Can I meet Nadya?"
Felicia was silent for a brief moment. "Actually, Ragnar wants to meet you as well."
Amon’s expression became slightly more serious. "Ragnar?"
"Yes. His family will be moving to the capital for a while."
Amon frowned. "Why?"
Felicia’s voice became quieter. "With the king’s death getting closer, everyone is preparing for the worst."
Amon slowed his steps. He had known the king was seriously ill, but hearing Felicia say it so casually made the situation feel more immediate.
’Ragnar is one of the strongest people in the kingdom.’ Amon thought about it for a moment.
Maybe he’s moving to the capital in case someone tries to attack it.
The capital would become extremely unstable if the king died while several factions were already fighting over the future.
Felicia spoke again. "Make sure you’re ready."
Amon nodded despite knowing she couldn’t see him. "I will."
"Good."
The call ended.
Amon slipped his phone into his pocket and finally reached his apartment.
He unlocked the door and stepped inside as the apartment was completely quiet.
Amon looked around.
Ambrosia must be busy with work and Sidney should still be at the academy.
The silence felt strange after spending so much time around people recently.
Amon let out a quiet sigh.
"Well..." He stretched his arms above his head. "I might as well cultivate."
He walked toward his living room and sat down on the sofa.
The familiar atmosphere immediately surrounded him.
Amon took in a deep breath as he was about to start cultivating.
But before he could start, his gaze fell on a picture that was placed on the wall.
Amon stared at it as it was the picture of Gordon and his family.
’....What would happen if my new family knew about your death?’
Amon wondered as he slowly stood up and walked towards the picture.
He stared at the smiling middle-aged man. ’I don’t want you to be in their life...’
Amon raised the picture and put it back on the wall. ’I will remove you from both your daughter’s and wife’s life.’
