Chapter 129: Chapter 129: Ten Hours in Bed and a Massive Essence Explosion!?! (bonus Chapter)

The last threads of crimson mana mist gathered into Lucien’s body and vanished as his eyelids twitched, then they opened.

"Haaah..."

The breath that left him came out warmer than it should have, trailing a faint red shimmer before dissolving into the air due to the dense amounts of mana flowing through him.

For several seconds he just sat there, cross legged on a bed feeling something in his body that hadn’t been there after the reset and maybe even before it.

His whole body felt denser, stronger and more refined, his senses were way sharper than before and he even felt things he couldn’t quite describe just yet.

Even the mana in him felt clearer somehow he could pick out individual threads of it instead of one vague soup.

And underneath all of it, a new kind of mana coiled quietly inside his mana core.

’The Sanguine Mana, it actually worked.’ He thought still surprised even if he knew it would work because of his mastery of the technique.

He then clenched his right fist slowly and curious about his new improved strength.

Crack.

The sound was loud enough that he genuinely ha to check and make sure he hadn’t broken a finger.

"Huh nothings broken, well it would make sense since my whole body improved with the cultivation increase." He said, as he had fogot that his entire being was improved so there was no way just clenching his fist could break his finger.

He relaxed his hand and tried again this time deliberately using as little force as he could manage to test his control.

"Well, damn seems like the jump messed me up a bit." And despite that a grin crept across his face.

He swung his legs off the bed, planted his feet on the floor, and stood up with exactly as much effort as he’d used every other morning before.

But his body had other ideas as he stumbled forward like he’d been launched by a kick to the bum.

"Whoa!"

He staggered three full steps, trying not to launch himself forward again before his hand caught a decorative pillar near their walk in wardrobe as the pillar shuddered in his hand.

He slowly withdrew his hand.

"I should probably be more careful with that."

’Great I’ve got a new cultivation, and the first thing I do with it is nearly redecorate the bedroom by accident.’ He joked.

He then spent the next several minutes walking very deliberately around the master bedroom, testing each step like a man relearning how legs worked, which and in a sense, he was.

After his second attempt at gently crossing the floor put a small visible dent in the floorboard as he stepped too hard, he decided further experimentation could wait.

’I’ll go shower first then figure out what actually changed before I break anything else more expensive.’ He thought as ten straight hours of cultivating had left him sweaty.

’Even sitting is such a chore now a days, don’t tell me I’m becoming like Eve!’ He joked.

He grabbed his phone off the nightstand on the way to the bathroom, mostly out of habit as the screen lit up.

He checked the time and checked it again just to be sure his eyes weren’t lying to him.

"Ten hours?"

"Only?"

He’d set up the crystals, laid the array plates, confirmed the activation and sat down expecting a full day, at minimum, of sitting motionless like expensive furniture.

’Ten hours for an entire year’s worth of progression.’

His expression cracked into something between disbelief and pure delight.

"That’s a fucking steal."

’Considering the Blood Sovereign Scripture is way more complex, with numerous steps to refine mana into Sanguine Mana, it would take way longer than the Mana Devouring Art.’

’And with it’s per rank mana core capacity being way higher, it should have taken longer.’

’And since the system does it perfectly to my understanding of the technique, it should have taken at least a day.’

’Well, maybe it’s due to the Blood mana crystals and my mastery of the technique that it was sped up?.’

He laughed out loud, alone in an empty bedroom, which probably would have looked unhinged to anyone watching.

"Other cultivators spend decades stuck on a single bottleneck." He flexed his hand, watching it respond with the good kind of unfamiliar strength.

"And I just spent ten hours in bed doing one year’s worth of exercise in that time."

"Hold up, that came out wrong." He laughed again anyway.

"Whatever the results speak for themselves."

The shower water ran warm over his new and improved body as Lucien let it wash the last residue of cultivation sweat off his skin, then turned his focus inward.

’Let’s check the mana core first.’ He thought excited for all the changes he felt.

He extended one finger as a thin strand of mana came out from the tip, except it wasn’t the pale blue and neutral color every other normal cultivator possessed.

Instead it wad a crimson mana thread wound around his finger like blood mist.

"Sanguine Mana." His eyes lit up.

He turned it over mentally, testing how naturally it answered his will.

This is going to make every blood ability I have cheaper to run, more powerful and probably easier to sustain, too.

"That alone would’ve been worth learning the scripture." He dismissed the strand, satisfied.

Then he checked the other thing, his mana core capacity.

A moment passed, then another as he focused on his new and improved mana core.

"What?" His expression shifted.

He checked again, then a third time, because the number refused to make sense on the first two attempts.

"Almost fifty times?"

His mana core’s capacity had grown past fifty times what it had been back at B Rank.

He stood motionless under the water, pressed a wet hand to his forehead and faced the ceiling.

"Seriously, Carmilla. What the hell is this technique you made?"

He already knew the answer, it was a Mythical Rank technique that was likely made by her for herself and by extension him just doing precisely what it said.

But that didn’t make the number any less absurd, as even the Mana Devouring Art, which was built on having large amounts of mana would have only had 2 to 5 percent at its best in his current rank.

"Not that I’m complaining." He said grinning.

Curious more than ever now, and more than a little impatient to see everything, he pulled up the System interface right there in the shower as he was to excited to wait.

He stared at the numbers for a solid five seconds.

Then he burst out laughing hard enough to swallow a mouthful of shower water, which he immediately regretted.

"Peak S Rank."

"Fuck I’m at S Rank, and it only took two hours!" He looked at his Rank once again just to make sure.

And then saw that nearly every stat he had sat somewhere between eighty and two hundred fifty thousand, he deliberately left out his lower intelligence. Numbers that if he saw a day ago would’ve seemed like an impossibility for a mortal to have.

And if he did see it, he would have thought he had taken a substance by accident and was at the peak of the highest high.

"From F Rank to Peak S Rank in ten hours," he said, mostly to hear it out loud.

"If I told anyone that, they wouldn’t think I was some heavenly genius but they’d think I was lying through my teeth."

’And they’d be right to be suspicious, this isn’t normal progress, this is the System cheating on my behalf.’ He thought laughing like a madman I the shower.

’Ah damn, I fucking love the system!’

’And I even have 24 months left to use, fuck me sideways.’ He laughed out loud at the absurdity.

’Where would i land after using all of that?’

’Godhod?’ He thought smiling, though he knew it wouldn’t be as easy as just cultivating mana to reach divinity.

He closed the interface after getting his cool back together, satisfied for now though there was still plenty left to actually test like how his body control handled the power jump, how his skills scaled and where he actually sat stat wise compared to other cultivators.

’Later for now one surprise at a time or else I’ll get a heart attack from joy.’ He smiled not sure if it was even possible.

’Hah, who am I kidding, with my insane vitality and regeneration, it would have to be some super heart attack for it to actually work.’

’Now how do I explain this sudden jump to Carmilla?’
