Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Rourke Family Calamity, Quickly Invite the Ancestor!
Afterward, Adrian Mercer walked past Julian.
He entered the Mercer Family estate.
As he passed through the crowd, a young Clan member around his age called out excitedly.
"Adrian, just stay here and wait safely for our return!"
"The Patriarch has broken through to the Purple Mansion Realm. The Rourke Family has no chance of winning this battle!"
Adrian, who had been walking inward with his head lowered, suddenly stopped.
His body trembled.
"Purple Mansion Realm?"
His lips parted slightly.
His face was filled with disbelief.
Only now did Adrian finally understand where the confidence of his fellow Clan members had come from.
The Rourke Family’s Ancestor was already old.
How could he possibly be a match for their Patriarch, who had reached the Purple Mansion Realm?
But...
Adrian silently raised his head.
He watched the backs of the Mercer Family members as they gradually disappeared from sight.
His teeth clenched.
He silently swore to himself.
This will be the first time.
And it will also be the last.
A battle concerning the survival of two families was taking place.
Yet he couldn’t participate simply because he had lost his cultivation.
That feeling of helplessness was almost unbearable.
As a member of the Mercer Family, how could he not want to contribute?
How could he watch his Clan fight while he stood helplessly on the sidelines?
As the figures of his fellow Clan members gradually disappeared from his sight, Adrian finally took another step.
He continued walking deeper into the family estate.
He couldn’t wait any longer.
He wanted to cultivate the two Profound Rank Cultivation Methods immediately.
He wanted to make an attempt.
He wanted to find his own miracle.
...
Meanwhile.
At the Rourke Family residence.
Inside a pavilion beside a pond, the atmosphere was lively.
Music drifted through the air.
Several dancers moved gracefully across the pavilion while musicians played soft melodies.
Three men sat around a table, enjoying dishes and occasionally taking small sips of wine.
They looked completely relaxed.
The eldest brother had gone to annihilate the Mercer Family.
As far as they were concerned, the outcome was already decided.
"Hahaha!"
"Judging by the time, Eldest Brother should already be wiping out the Mercer Family."
"The Mercer Family has probably been destroyed by now."
"Have you two already thought about how to divide their fields, mineral veins, and other assets?"
"I’ve already told Eldest Brother beforehand. I only want the Phoenix Tower."
"You two can divide everything else between yourselves."
The speaker was the Second Master of the Rourke Family.
The Fourth Master took a small sip of wine.
"Second Brother, why are you in such a hurry?"
"Could it be that the top courtesan of the Phoenix Tower has truly bewitched you?"
"You don’t want anything else and only want that place of romance and pleasure?"
The Second Master smiled.
A look of infatuation appeared on his face.
"You wouldn’t understand Yaner’s feelings for me."
"She’s different from every woman I’ve met before."
"She’s flawless."
"She doesn’t care about my wealth."
"She only wants to stay beside me for the rest of her life."
"How could those vulgar women compare with her?"
The Third Master and Fourth Master exchanged glances.
Both of them secretly shook their heads.
A courtesan who could be won over with enough money.
Her sweet words were probably something only their foolish Second Brother would believe.
But neither of them said anything.
Why offend their Second Brother?
Besides, if the Second Master wasn’t interested in the other assets, the two of them would receive a larger share.
With that thought in mind, the two brothers smiled.
The three continued drinking.
Before long, six cups of wine had disappeared into their stomachs.
The Second Master felt that the wine cups were too small.
He grabbed the wine jar and was about to take a large gulp.
Then...
Thump! Thump! Thump!
Hurried footsteps suddenly echoed from outside.
The Second Master frowned.
He casually threw the empty wine jar onto the ground.
Clang!
The Third and Fourth Masters also stopped talking.
They turned toward the source of the noise.
A gray-robed Clan servant came rushing into the pavilion.
He looked terrified.
When he finally reached them, his legs stumbled from panic and he fell directly onto the ground.
The Second Master immediately became displeased.
"What’s with the panic?"
"Where is your composure?"
His voice boomed through the pavilion.
The servant trembled.
The Third Master narrowed his eyes.
He stood up and walked toward the servant.
"Speak."
"What happened?"
"Why are you so frightened?"
The servant suddenly remembered why he had come.
"It’s... it’s the Mercer Family!"
"Many Mercer Family members have come!"
"They’re killing everyone they see!"
"Many of our brothers have already been killed!"
The words fell.
The atmosphere instantly changed.
It was as though lightning had struck the pavilion.
The expressions of the three brothers darkened.
Bang!
The Second Master’s eyebrows shot upward.
He slammed his palm onto the table.
The entire dining table shattered in two.
"Audacious!"
"How dare a mere Mercer Family come to our Rourke Family and start killing people?!"
The Third Master remained silent.
His eyes flickered with uncertainty.
"Something is wrong."
"Eldest Brother clearly went to the Mercer Family."
"Logically speaking, there should be no way for them to survive."
"Yet not only have they survived..."
"They’ve actually come here?"
The Fourth Master’s expression changed.
"Third Brother..."
"Could Eldest Brother have missed them when he attacked the Mercer Family?"
"Maybe they escaped before he arrived?"
The Third Master shook his head.
"That doesn’t make sense either."
"If they had escaped, I wouldn’t find it strange."
"But why would they come here?"
"They know our Ancestor is still here."
"Why would they willingly walk into their own graves?"
The two brothers fell silent.
There were too many unanswered questions.
Neither of them could understand what had happened.
The Second Master, however, couldn’t be bothered to think about it anymore.
He stood up.
His gaze fell upon the treasured saber resting nearby.
He reached out with his large, calloused hand.
His five fingers wrapped tightly around the hilt.
Clang!
He pulled the broadsword free.
Then he swung it several times.
The blade cut through the air with fierce force.
The movements were smooth, almost as though the saber were an extension of his own arm.
"Why bother thinking about all this?"
"Since they dare come to the Rourke Family..."
His eyes filled with murderous intent.
"Then I’ll make sure their blood stains this place today!"
He turned around and prepared to leave.
The Third Master immediately stepped forward and grabbed his sleeve.
"Second Brother, wait."
The Second Master stopped.
His expression became unpleasant.
The Third Master immediately turned toward the servant.
"This matter is strange."
"We should be careful."
"Go."
"Immediately inform the Ancestor."
"Tell him what is happening."
The servant hurriedly nodded.
"Understood, Third Master!"
He quickly got up, cupped his hands, and turned around.
Then he rushed toward the Rourke Family Ancestral Hall.
Only after the servant disappeared did the Third Master release his brother’s sleeve.
"Let’s go."
"We’ll see for ourselves what exactly has given the Mercer Family the courage to barge into our territory."
The Second Master snorted coldly.
He tightened his grip on his broadsword.
Without hesitation, he left the pavilion.
The Third and Fourth Masters followed closely behind.
Not long afterward...
The three brothers approached the front courtyard.
Even from a distance, they could hear the sounds of fighting.
Weapons clashed.
People screamed.
Energy exploded.
They continued forward.
Then a thick smell of blood reached their noses.
The expressions of the three brothers became even darker.
How many people had died?
They quickened their pace.
Within moments, they reached the front courtyard.
The scene before them finally came into view.
Numerous Rourke Family members wearing Clan attire lay scattered across the ground.
Corpses were everywhere.
Blood had stained the courtyard red.
Even the surrounding grass and trees were covered in bloody splashes.
The slaughter was still continuing.
A Mercer Family member raised his sword.
Slash!
Another Rourke Family cultivator fell.
The Second Master’s eyes turned bloodshot.
The fury inside his chest finally erupted.
Veins bulged along his temples.
His eyes looked almost feral.
"I’m going to kill you all!"
He raised his treasured saber.
With one powerful stride, he rushed into the crowd.
His target was the nearest Mercer Family member.
The broadsword rose high above his head.
Then it came crashing down.
He intended to split the young Mercer Family member in half.
The young man’s face instantly turned pale.
He stared at the heavy saber descending toward him.
His legs went weak.
He lost his balance and fell backward onto the ground.
The blade was already approaching.
And there was no time left to dodge.
