A Bio-Weapon’s Rhapsody
Chapter 401: Day 1.7 – The test results!
Alexa had answered all the questions perfectly!
And by that of course she meant that [Main Core] had been hard at work using her hand to write the answer, at some point the theater person had teleported besides her and looked at her weird.
Mostly because Alexa had been dozing off, her hand kept writing and her body stayed straight though. Probably because [Main Core] didn’t want to have her body cover the exam papers.
But Alexa cared not for that!
“…Carry on.” The theater person said as they sighed and moved away, weird.
Anyway, Alexa didn’t dwell in that, instead she continued thinking on important things!
Like, what was CRADDLE thinking?!?!
How was Alexa supposed to know some of these stuff?
Alexa knew not what the fusing of a mitochondria had to do with anything! What was Alexa supposed to do with that? She didn’t knew!
[Main Core] answered it anyway, so it probably was a real question to be had, but Alexa couldn’t get why that was important!
I mean, probably Ale knew since she seemed to be focusing on using their powers more hands on, but Alexa only asked [Main Core] to do the things and they did it! That was all one needed, why would you go out of your way to make things more complicated?
That was stoopid! Stoopid!
“And that’s time.” [Teach Baking] clapped once and all the pens in the room flew to the heavens! “Please raise your hands, the desks will take the tests.”
Alexa raised her hands to the heavens! She didn’t want to lose these pair of hands, she needed them to eat snacks! And to grab them [Mango]!
“Thank you.” Then [Teach Baking] said after the desk that Alexa was using ate her test! Even though it wasn’t tasty, Alexa had nomed a side of the test when she was bored. It tasted like paper, that was not tasty. “The results will be out in a few minutes, now at the top right of each of your desks are two buttons, press the green one if you want your test results to be public and press the red one if you don’t want them public.”
Alexa quickly pushed the green button, she wanted to know how [Main Core] did, if she didn’t get the results public then she couldn’t bully [Main Core] for being dumb after all.
“Will the test results not be publicly available?” One of the students around asked, “How will we know if Alexa is truly as smart as you all claim her to be?”
“This is education Mister Rivera, why would we pander to your ego?” The Theater person said with a shrug, “If you so wish crave for that, why not make a bet with Lady Alexa? I am sure she would be willing to stake her earnings from this test… So long you can match them with your own points.”
“We don’t have points.” The classmate pointed back, “All we have is the pittance they gave for getting in, barely enough to get even a serving for lunch.”
“So that would be a no?” The Theater person smirked, “Too bad.”
“I can accept that bet if she is willing to take real money instead.” The classmate turned to Alexa, “Do you take the bet? I doubt the Saintsworths coffers will have problems matching me, a heathen.”
“Real money transactions are forbidden within Aquila.” [Teach Baking] pointed out, “So let’s drop this, right?”
“You can stake future earnings.” The theater person fanned the flames of conflict with a smile on his face, “That would mean you would need to live in the normal students dormitories, eat in the normal students cafeteria and use the normal students resources, that is to say. The library.”
“…” The classmate seemed to be thinking about something.
“I’ll take that bet,” The classmate ended saying at the end, “But she better match the risk.”
“If Lady Alexa can’t match the points you stake in the bet, then sure.” The Theater person then turned to look at Alexa, “What’s your answer Lady Alexa?”
Alexa’s answer?
Hmm…
“CRADDLE person!” Alexa instead raised her hand, “How many points would Alexa get if she wins normally?”
“[The current prize pool for this test is of 250,000 points.]” The CRADDLE person answered!
“How many more points does Ale need?” Alexa asked next, that was important after all.
“[Should you accept the bet then your own points will be enough to fulfill the needs of Lady Ale.]” The CRADDLE person said.
“Then give them to Ale as a gift okay?” Alexa smiled as she praised herself for being so smart, “Alexa will take that bet!”
So Alexa took the bet!
“But she already pushed the button, how will we know she isn’t lying?” Someone said aloud behind them.
“Alexa would never lie!” But Glory quickly jumped to defend Alexa’s honor! “Besides, we can always ask the teachers or the CRADDLE person to tell us, they wouldn’t lie!”
“Yeah!” Alexa also jumped to defend Alexa’s honor, “What Glory said! Alexa would never lie, cute girls like Alexa can’t lie or they stop being cute girls!”
“Then let us see the results.” The Theater person said turning his back to the students, “Do you want to see the actual points… or-“
“We will display the percentage!” But [Teach Baking] jumped in, “I’ll take point here, is that okay Teacher Medici?”
“…You are also responsible for the class, if you think this is the best way to move forward then I shall comply.” The teacher person shrugged indifferently, “I am not used to teach… lesser subjects, and we do have plenty of those here after all.”
“Lesser?” “Subjects? “Teach?”
The whispering among the other classmates made itself known, but everyone ignored it! Because the CRADDLE person displayed the results!
“Le gasp!” And Alexa did an audible gasp at that!
For the results were as follow!
Name | Results | Probability of cheating: |
Alexa Saintsworths | 100% | 0% |
Tanaka Aiko | 87% | 8% |
Amara Okafor | 92% | 79% |
Alan Harmonia | 95% | 56% |
Liliam O’Conner | 91% | 85% |
Fatima El-Masri | 75% | 10% |
…. | … | …. |
…. | … | …. |
Gloria Blackthorn | 2% | 99% |
Beatrice Starcroft | 2% | 100% |
“Hmm….” Alexa was thoughtful, “I don’t know who is he, did Alexa win?”
“…You have a perfect score.” Alan said from the side, “And you are the only one with that, it is impossible for him to have won… I do wonder where he is thought.”
“I was missing 1%!” Glory said sighing besides Alexa, “I thought I had it! I’ll need to do better next time.”
“I can share one of my 100%!” Beato said from behind them, “I am magnanimouse like that!”
And of course Beato was there helping them, such a good girl, wonder why she had been so mean before. Or was she being a good girl now because she wanted to get Ale to teach her?
She was Ale’s student after all.
“… That’s impossible!” The classmate that had bet against Alexa complained, “How is that possible! Besides what is that? Probability of cheating? Didn’t you said it was impossible to cheat under the aegis of this school? Then why do you have that metric?”
“Ah, I may have misspoken before.” The teacher person said with a small giggle under his tone, “What I meant is that it is impossible to cheat without being caught. CRADDLE, please elaborate in how you measured that metric. Also do give the points earned from this test.”
“[As you wish Teacher De’Medici.]” The projection in the wall added a new window besides each name, there it seemed was a video, or well, right now it was an image, but Alexa knew they were video format files! [Main Core] was snooping already on them.
[No compromised data exposed, allowing.]
“[The percentage there represents the chance of a teacher of coughing someone cheating using normal techniques or the technology available to them. Should someone attempt to cheat in a test, they should be aware that depending on the medium used points may be deducted, this test was worth 100,000 points. Your test results will be how much of that you would have earned should this be a normal test.]” The percentage that represented how many right answer they got changed into the points the CRADDLE person mentioned, “[Then the percentage of chance of being caught would be the amount of points you would lose before they hit your account. In this case Mister… Rivera who raised the bet against Lady Alexa would have earned merely 42% of the 100,000 reward. Then because he would get caught 80% of the time he could only earn 20% of the reward. It means that of the 20,000 points he had available. He would only earn 42%, meaning his total rewards for this test would be: 8,400 points.]”
“Aren’t you happy that this wasn’t a normal test Mister Rivera?” The Theater person asked, “If it was a normal test you would only have gotten that instead of your 42,000 points. Meaning you only owe the school 58,000 points.”
“That…” The classmate seemed to deflate, “But…”
“And in case you forgot, a normal test gives 500 points, which we will not have every day.” The theater person seemed to be enjoying it.
“Yay!” Alexa on the other hand was cheering, “Ale will get her thingies faster! So Alexa won another 100,000 points right?”
“[That is correct, congratulations Lady Alexa.]” The CRADDLE person announced, “[Starting point distribution… Gambler Rivera, be aware that any attempt to use special point based facilities will be barred till you pay your debts, we will be sending you suggestions of research laboratories or other work institutions Saintsworths endorsed where you may attempt to work. You are free to work under any institution if that is your desire, but only Saintsworths endorsed facilities will guarantee your health.]”
“What CRADDLE means is that, if you want to be safe, work for the Saintsworths. You may be able to get physical coins which the system can’t take away from you. But that would also mean risking your own life. That’s up to you.” The teacher person added, “I for one pay only in physical points for example.”
“We don’t endorse working for facilities that don’t use digital points!” [Teach Baking] suddenly jumped, “Even if those are teachers of this school, please only work with people that will use CRADDLE to pay, that way we can guarantee your safety.”
“…noted.” The classmate said sinking back to his chair.
“Question!” Beato suddenly raised her hand as she stood on the table. “Do I get a price for getting 100%?”
“No.” The teacher person answered, “If it was a normal test you would get kicked out of the classroom, no matter who your mother is.”
“Do you also know Beato’s Mommas?!?!?!” Beato was surprised, wait, didn’t she meet him before?
Alexa remembered the theater person telling Beato something something when she awoke her powers right?
“I know your Mother well enough,” The theater person seemed to look mysterious as he spoke, but Alexa got the impression he didn’t refer to the same person that Beato was thinking. Did Beato have a third or fourth hidden [Mom] person!?!?!?
Probably, she seemed like the type of person to have even more [Mom] persons around, so long she didn’t try to steal Ale, then Alexa didn’t mind how many [Mom] persons she had to be honest.
“Okay children, most of your tests will be like this.” [Teach Baking] took control of the conversation again, “Whenever we have tests you will not bring your backpacks or anything, all that you need will be provided by the school.”
“Is this so we don’t cheat?” Alan asked without raising his hand! Was he mad?!?!?
“No, it’s so all of you have the same opportunity to do so.” The teacher person smiled as he answered, “We encourage it to some degree, so long you aren’t overtly obvious about it as… some of you were.”
Some people cheated!?!?!? That was an option?!!??!
“For example, Miss Blackthorn and Miss Beato, they both opened their backpack and tried to read their notebooks… even though they should be empty.” The Teacher person singled out Beato and Glory! “Some like Mister Rivera thought using smart glasses would prevent others from noticing they were cheating…”
Smart glasses? So they wanted to use the glasses to answer!
Why didn’t Alexa think of that?!?!?
“Glory was looking for a pen!” Glory raised her hand, “She didn’t snoop into the notebook for answer, she snoop in the notebook for a pen!”
“Beato was cheating! But all her notebooks were empty so she didn’t manage to get anything!” Beato’s answer was different. “So it doesn’t count!”
Oh, so Beato did cheat huh.
“If you manage to not get caught and the test isn’t being penalized by CRADDLE, then you can get away with all your points. If not, you will get penalized as Mister Rivera would have been.” The Teacher person then raised his cane and pointed at the 80%, “So your prize pool would start even lower, imagine earning only 42% of 100. That would mean that instead of 210 you would only get 42.”
That sucks, that sucked bad!
What was Alexa supposed to do with 42?!?!?!? She couldn’t even make a good joke out of that number! (She totally could)
“Question: How do we know if an exam is being monitored by CRADDLE to enforce such a system?” Alan asked, again without raising his hand! He was a daredevil!
“Easy, you use your own achievements to ask for such a privilege.” The theater person smiled evilly as he said that!
“Some exams will give special achievements when you manage to hit a certain threshold, today’s test will give one to every student that hit above 95% and two to anyone who hit 100%.” [Teach Baking] turned to look at the table of results, “Meaning you and Alexa are the only ones with such a mark, you can ask to be excluded from the monitoring with one achievement and exclude the whole class with two.”
“…Only exams give these?” Alan asked, once again without raising his hand! He was tempting fate!
“Some teacher have a certain allowance to give them, some events give them, and participating in research studies also grant them… should you provide enough help to the development of the research you are helping.” The teacher person was the one to answer that one.
Where they rotating who answer each question? Or did they just do this with no practice, Alexa didn’t think so, they probably practiced it… right?
“Thank you.” Alan nodded at the answers and sank into his own thoughts, “Can I use these to exclude someone else? Use one achievement to give someone immunity to such surveillance?”
“No.” “Sadly no.” Both [Teach Baking] and the theater person answered at the same time.
“Well, that would be all for today. We will be cutting this class short, you all can go to the cafeteria and get something to eat, today’s food is free, so try it without worrying about points.” The teacher person clapped his hands and said as thus while the doors into the classroom opened by themselves, “Tomorrow you will need to start to worry bout points… Or you can delegate these to the school, the school can worry about your balance and let you know whenever you are out of points.”
Oh, that seemed like a good idea.
[That is not needed for host, as this one will keep the tally of points.]
But Alexa didn’t need it, for she had [Main Core]! All that was left was to return home… Or maybe go by the park and see if there was something nice to do?
But Ale also had classes… But it was early… Should Alexa return early so Ale could have more time for herself? Even though Ale had been hogging all the time on screen lately?
Alexa would need to think more on this.
