A Bumpy Road to Power
Chapter 1100 - 1100
Colter Hall was in a fit of rage.
Seeing this person had no manners and had entered with Megan Goodman.
He angrily said, "Get out, get out of here. Is this the place where your phone should be ringing?"
But the man didn't care at all.
He directly took out his phone and placed it to his ear.
Seeing this, Colter Hall shouted to Hadley Thorne's secretary, Jules Reid, "Secretary Jules, call the security personnel here. I want to see if any random person can just enter Silverwood City's committee meeting room."
Jules Reid was Hadley Thorne's secretary.
He instinctively glanced at Hadley Thorne.
Hadley Thorne was just about to make a statement.
The man on the phone spoke.
"Leader, I've picked up the person, but we've encountered a bit of trouble and got detained in Silverwood City. Our flight might be delayed."
The speaker was undoubtedly Bohdan Sherwood's secretary, Anton Lewis.
From the other end of the phone, Bohdan Sherwood asked, "Detained in Silverwood City, what's going on?"
Anton Lewis covered the mouthpiece and quietly explained the situation.
After a brief silence.
Bohdan Sherwood said, "Let me make some calls."
"Alright."
After Anton Lewis hung up, Colter Hall still hadn't realized the severity of the issue. Seeing Jules Reid hadn't moved, and unable to wait, he directly took out his phone and dialed a number.
The call quickly connected.
The other end was the duty room of Silverwood City's Committee Security Office.
Just about a minute later.
A clutter of footsteps sounded in the hallway.
Soon after.
Deputy Director Gene Thompson showed up with six security officers.
Colter Hall pointed at Anton Lewis and shouted, "Comrade Gene, take this person out and check what his identity is. For crying out loud, how dare he storm into the meeting room!"
"Yes!"
Gene Thompson received the order and was about to act.
At that critical moment.
The Deputy Secretary-General of the Committee Office suddenly appeared at the door, breathless, shouting inside, "Secretary Thorne, phone call."
Hadley Thorne frowned and asked, "Who is calling?"
"Red line, the government... Commissioner... Commissioner Sherwood calling."
Once stammering was done.
Hadley Thorne sprung up.
Not just him.
The others also showed complete shock.
Who didn't know Bohdan Sherwood would be the next person to take the lead? Why is he suddenly calling Silverwood City's Committee?
Hadley Thorne swallowed his saliva in fright.
Without a word, he dashed out.
The call from the highest level clearly disrupted everyone's rhythm.
They all started whispering amongst themselves.
Colter Hall did the same.
His mind was constantly guessing what the purpose of this call was.
After about two or three minutes.
Hadley Thorne's footsteps were heard.
Everyone quickly raised their eyes to the door.
Sure enough.
A worried-looking Hadley Thorne appeared.
Colter Hall was the first to stand up, eagerly asking, "Secretary Thorne, Commissioner Sherwood over there…"
"Secretary Lewis, Secretary Lewis, how come you didn't inform us earlier… Oh dear… It's our Silverwood City's poor hospitality, that's my fault, that's my fault…"
Hadley Thorne didn't pay attention to Colter Hall.
Instead, he directly approached Anton Lewis, humbly speaking.
Everyone present was dumbfounded.
Especially Colter Hall, who instinctively asked, "Secretary Lewis, which Secretary Lewis?"
"Oh, oh, oh, let me introduce everyone. This is Anton Lewis, close secretary to Commissioner Sherwood."
Hadley Thorne said with an intentionally trembling voice.
He deliberately added "close" to emphasize the intimacy between Anton Lewis and Bohdan Sherwood.
Saying this was naturally with his own little thought.
When he received the call from Bohdan Sherwood, Hadley Thorne was flabbergasted.
His mind went blank.
Finding out the man in the meeting room was his secretary and the woman Dirk Carter brought over was Bohdan Sherwood's daughter.
His heart almost jumped out of his throat.
Hanging up the phone, en route to the meeting room, Hadley Thorne recovered and was somewhat glad he didn't follow Colter Hall's rhythm at the time, or he wouldn't be able to step down now.
Since the whole matter was instigated by Colter Hall.
He was determined to shift all responsibility to Colter Hall.
Bohdan Sherwood's secretary?
This identity was enough to make Colter Hall shiver.
He jolted a bit, somewhat unbelieving.
"Dirk… Dirk Carter, what's going on? Secretary Lewis came over, and you didn't inform us first. What… what are you trying to do?"
Colter Hall immediately turned the focus onto Dirk Carter.
Dirk Carter shrugged and said, "Leo came to Silverwood City this time to pick up Miss Goodman. The whereabouts were inconvenient to disclose. If it weren't for needing to explain my relationship with Miss Goodman at the meeting, I wouldn't have let him come."
Pick up Miss Goodman?
What does that mean?
Could it be that Bohdan Sherwood's secretary came to Silverwood City just to pick up this young lady?
Colter Hall looked incredulously at Hadley Thorne.
Hadley Thorne nodded and said, "Miss Goodman is… is Commissioner Sherwood's daughter."
Boom.
Everyone's minds exploded.
Especially Colter Hall, he instantly wavered, struggling to remain steady.
He originally wanted to use these two photos to pin a disorganized lifestyle on Dirk Carter.
Now that Dirk Carter and Megan Goodman both admitted it, he dared not pursue further, given Megan's special identity. If things got messy, where would Bohdan Sherwood's face be?
"Mayor Hall, right? I've admitted my atypical relationship with Dirk Carter. Do I need to accompany you to the province for investigation?"
Megan Goodman saw this.
Asked Colter Hall.
Colter Hall was now in a dilemma.
If he were to handle Dirk Carter, he wouldn't get past Bohdan Sherwood.
After all, the man would be the leading figure in a month. Opposing him would be self-destructive, wouldn't it?
If he didn't address Dirk Carter, then his words today would just become a farce.
Dirk Carter admitted his misconduct, yet he couldn't proceed with his claims, losing face completely, wouldn't he?
As sparks flew.
His mind shifted.
He looked at Lane Quincy and said, "Secretary Quincy, shouldn't you give me an explanation for this matter?"
What's going on?
Why bring Lane Quincy into this?
He didn't have a chance to speak.
Colter Hall immediately said, "Miss Goodman, Dirk Carter, I'll be honest, these two photos were brought to me by Lane Quincy's son Brynn Quincy. Of course, I believe in Dirk Carter's character, which is why I brought them to the committee for discussion. In the end, why these photos exist, you would have to ask Secretary Quincy."
At this point, there's no other way.
Lane Quincy would have to be the scapegoat.
Even if he defected to others after this, it couldn't be helped.
