A Bumpy Road to Power
Chapter 1178 - 1178
This time, it obviously went a lot smoother.
But still, she'd never felt this full before.
The fierce thrusting still brought a bit of tearing pain.
Thankfully, Dirk Carter was very experienced in this area.
Under his patient "work," Noelle Meyer's initial pain started to fade bit by bit, replaced by surging waves of pleasure, one crest after another.
Later on.
She let go of her reserve too.
Once again turning the whole room into a springtime fantasy.
She'd already lost count of how many times she'd hit the peak.
Finally, with a low growl from Dirk, she felt like she'd ascended to heaven; using Faye Ullman's words from just now, it really did feel like dying once and coming back…
Two rounds of battle ended.
The two women lay there spent and sprawled.
Each of them took about half an hour to catch their breath.
Only then did they wake up from the overwhelming tide of pleasure.
All that talk of lecherous bastards and filthy scumbags—none of it existed anymore.
The way they looked at Dirk had already changed completely.
Sure enough.
The therapeutic effect was instant.
Two hours later.
Noelle Meyer was the first to regain the ability to move, and after about another hour, Faye Ullman could get out of bed too.
Thinking back on the indulgence just now.
The three of them exchanged looks and all felt pretty embarrassed.
"Oh my god, it's really gone. I never imagined doing something like this could actually cure you and detox your body…"
Faye Ullman waved her arms.
She said in amazement.
By this time.
Noelle Meyer had already put her clothes back on.
She walked straight up to Dirk and said, "Go get some rest. I'll keep watch by the window."
"It's fine, there's still more than an hour; Elbert Rivers and his people will be here by then."
Dirk said.
Just as Noelle Meyer was about to press up to the window to help him look.
Dirk suddenly stiffened and said, "Someone's coming!"
Noelle Meyer took a look.
She let out a long breath and said, "It's fine, that's Aunt Wu."
"Aunt Wu? Who's that?"
"Our old housemaid, she's from Mountridge County. Later she wanted to go back home to help raise her grandkids, so we let her retire and go back. This place is usually maintained by her too. She's trustworthy."
Just as the words left Noelle Meyer's mouth.
Aunt Wu, who'd reached the door, glanced toward the window.
Only then did Dirk remember.
Because of all the activity just now, he'd forgotten to turn off the lights.
"There's something wrong with her."
Dirk said decisively.
Noelle Meyer smiled.
She said, "It's really fine, Aunt Wu's always been loyal to our family. There's no way she'd be bought off."
With that.
She opened the door and walked down to meet Aunt Wu.
Aunt Wu saw Noelle Meyer and was naturally very happy.
They held hands, fussing and asking after each other.
At this moment.
Dirk and Faye Ullman also walked down the stairs.
Aunt Wu saw the two of them, and a flash of shock crossed her eyes.
"Miss, when did you get here? Why didn't you tell me? Look at me, I haven't prepared anything. It'll be light soon, I'll go buy you all some breakfast."
The strange look vanished in a blink as Aunt Wu spoke politely.
Noelle Meyer shook her head and said, "Aunt Wu, don't trouble yourself, we're leaving as soon as it gets light."
"No, no, we must. Miss, just wait a bit, I'll be right back."
"Alright then, Aunt Wu."
Unable to withstand Aunt Wu's nagging.
In the end, Noelle Meyer still agreed.
Just like that.
About five minutes after she'd come in, Aunt Wu turned and left again.
"See? There's no way Aunt Wu has a problem."
Noelle Meyer turned back and said to Dirk.
Dirk thought for a moment and asked, "Aside from you and your father, who else knows about this Aunt Wu? Does Rebecca know?"
This question.
Made Noelle Meyer jolt.
She hurriedly nodded and said, "She knows. Aunt Wu was hired back then specifically to take care of her."
Like a bolt from the blue.
Dirk froze on the spot.
Run?
There was nowhere to run!
Dirk took a deep breath, forcing down his nerves, and asked, "Is there a landline here?"
"Yes! Right by the coffee table!"
Noelle Meyer pointed at the coffee table.
Dirk didn't waste any time; he grabbed the receiver and immediately dialed Elbert Rivers's number.
Luck was on their side.
The call went through, which meant Elbert Rivers had already left Mountridge County.
"Hello, Elbert, it's Dirk Carter."
Before Elbert could answer, he quickly identified himself.
On the other end, Elbert Rivers sounded excited when he heard Dirk's voice. "Sir, we're already on the way to Mountridge County. Secretary Quincy and Director Mei are with me, and Captain Liang from the Upper Lake District Police Precinct has already set out too."
"Good, move fast. I'll give you the address now…"
With that.
Dirk gave Elbert Rivers the address of the house.
After he hung up.
Dirk was just about to tell Noelle Meyer and Faye Ullman to hide somewhere.
But he was still a step too late.
With a crash.
The door was yanked open from the outside.
Kael Quill appeared in the doorway.
Then.
The black-clad men with him poured in one after another.
Dirk immediately moved Noelle Meyer behind him.
Seeing the three of them still standing there perfectly fine.
Kael Quill's face was full of shock.
Maybe even he hadn't expected that after this long being poisoned, Noelle Meyer and Faye Ullman would still be standing there unharmed.
However.
He didn't say anything.
Instead, he stepped to the side.
Which made it clear that a bigger player was about to enter.
Sure enough.
A middle‑aged man slowly walked in.
Behind him were a man and a woman.
Both Noelle Meyer and Dirk recognized the man.
Dirk had seen him in the media.
It was none other than the mastermind behind the entire incident, Adonis Forrest, chairman of Ascendancy Group.
Just like Kael Quill.
The moment he saw the two women intact and fine.
Adonis Forrest also froze.
He frowned and looked at Kael Quill. "What's going on? Didn't you say they were already poisoned? Does this look like they've been poisoned?"
Kael Quill scrambled to explain.
Dirk deliberately asked, "Poisoned? What poison? What do you mean? I don't get it."
Kael Quill was horrified.
Pointing at Noelle Meyer and Faye Ullman, he said, "You… you clearly drank the water I prepared for you, how could… Faye… Faye, you couldn't even move at the time, you all saw it, didn't you?"
The last part.
Was obviously directed at his own men.
Dirk heard this.
And kept playing dumb. "What the hell are you talking about? Faye's perfectly fine, isn't she? What do you mean she couldn't move? Brother Kael, weren't you the one who told us to take you hostage so we could get away, and then you could report back to Mr. Forrest?"
Dirk's words.
Instantly put a look of suspicion on Adonis Forrest's face.
Noelle Meyer caught on to what Dirk was trying to do.
She said, "Exactly, Kael. Didn't you say Mr. Forrest wanted to kill us, and told us to grab you so we could escape, and then you'd have something to say to Mr. Forrest? How did it turn into us being poisoned?"
"Kael Quill, is that really what happened?"
Adonis Forrest asked darkly.
