A Bumpy Road to Power
Chapter 1186 - 1186
A warm and enveloping sensation swept over the top of his head.
Adonis Forrest, already excited, couldn't help but let out a long sigh.
He felt the swelling in his lower abdomen growing more intense.
He suddenly grabbed Grace Lewis by the hair.
He picked her up.
Then ordered her to lean on the desk with her hands.
Her legs spread wide.
Holding his shaft, he aimed it at Grace Lewis's Blossom and after a moment of fondling, thrust in deeply…
At that moment.
It was humiliating for Grace Lewis.
Her body trembled under Adonis Forrest's motion, and her full bosom swayed.
A tear slid down from the corner of her eye.
Even so.
She could only grit her teeth and endure…
Ten minutes later.
Adonis Forrest felt a tingling in his waist.
Grace Lewis knew what was about to happen.
She exclaimed, "Chairman, not inside… don't…"
The rest of her words were lost.
She could already feel the overwhelming release…
After releasing himself, Adonis Forrest checked his watch, pulled up his pants without a care for Grace Lewis, who lay sobbing softly on the desk, and swaggered out…
The press conference went ahead as scheduled.
All the major news outlets had set up their cameras.
Under the gaze of everyone present.
Adonis Forrest walked to the podium with an air of prestige.
Clearing his throat, just as he was about to speak.
He noticed at the main entrance.
Two lines of people walked in.
The line on the left was all in police uniforms, led by Manuel Brooks.
The line on the right, all in black suits, with party emblems pinned on the left chest.
With his experience in high positions, Adonis Forrest recognized them as people from the Commission for Discipline Inspection.
Upon entering the press conference room, they quickly occupied key exits.
The journalists present began to murmur and speculate; the room was abuzz, with nobody quite understanding what was happening.
As for Adonis Forrest.
His face remained calm.
As if these people entering had nothing to do with him.
"Who are you people?"
On the podium.
Adonis Forrest asked.
Manuel Brooks stepped forward and showed him his police badge.
Had he not looked, it would have been fine.
But upon seeing it, a look of disdain washed over Adonis Forrest's face.
He returned the badge to Manuel Brooks, saying seriously, "Who let you come here? Do you know what place this is? You think you can come and go as you please? Is there no law and order? Since when could people from the Silverwood City Police Department come to Prospera City to arrest people?"
"I say it's possible, so it is."
Just at that moment.
A voice came from the doorway.
Adonis Forrest looked up.
The entire being shuddered as if electrified.
He saw clearly.
The person walking in was none other than Dirk Carter, who in his mind was already as good as dead.
Although shocked, he was, after all, someone accustomed to big scenes.
Adonis Forrest's ability to adapt was still quite strong.
He scoffed, "I wondered who it was, turns out it's Dirk Carter, Secretary General Carter. Secretary Carter, aren't you aware that Ascendancy Group is a sub-ministerial central enterprise? People from Silverwood City come in as they please; isn't that somewhat audacious?"
Walking through the press area.
Dirk Carter made his way straight to Adonis Forrest.
He laughed, "Director Adonis indeed has guts, showing no panic at all when a supposedly dead man suddenly appears before you, impressive! Impressive indeed!"
"I don't know what you're talking about?"
A flash of malice crossed Adonis Forrest's face as he said.
Dirk Carter feigned surprise, "Oh? You don't know? No problem, then let's talk about what you do know. During your tenure as chairman of Ascendancy Group, embezzlement of vast state assets is certainly a fact, right?"
Those words were like thunder.
The murmuring among the journalists grew louder.
Adonis Forrest sneered, "Dirk Carter, even if you want to bring me down, could you at least use some legitimate means? To try and frame me during my press conference, do you think it will work? Besides, even if I did commit a crime, betray the party and the people, as a secretary of the Silverwood City Commission for Discipline Inspection, what can you do to me? Do you have the authority to arrest me? It's sheer nonsense!"
These words made sense.
He was, after all, a sub-ministerial level official.
Even if he did break the law.
It would have to be handled by The Supreme Disciplinary Committee.
It would not be Dirk Carter's place as a deputy director-level municipal disciplinary secretary.
Once those words were said.
The situation changed dramatically.
The journalists also leaned towards Adonis Forrest.
"Yes, this is sheer nonsense, a deputy director-level arresting a deputy minister, never heard of such a thing."
"Isn't this making a mockery of Ascendancy Group's reputation? This disciplinary secretary is too gutsy, isn't he?"
"Exactly, probably a personal vendetta, using power to cause trouble on purpose."
Although these voices weren't loud.
Adonis Forrest heard them too.
He smiled slightly.
Said, "Secretary Carter, I need to hold this meeting. If you are here to observe and show concern for the development of our Ascendancy Group, I don't mind you sitting in, but if you're looking to cause unwarranted trouble, I'm afraid I'll have to call the provincial office."
"Won't shed tears until he sees the coffin, Manuel Brooks, give him the document!"
After Dirk Carter said this darkly.
Manuel Brooks handed a red-headed document to Adonis Forrest.
He picked it up leisurely and scanned it.
Suddenly froze on the spot.
Seeing that the stamp at the end belonged to the Supreme Disciplinary Committee, he shuddered, instantly drenched in cold sweat.
"Impossible, impossible… this must be a forgery, impossible…"
He kept repeating this phrase.
Next.
He shakily pulled out his phone.
Said to Dirk Carter, "I'm going to call the provincial office, I don't believe it, this must be forged."
"Go ahead, I'll give you time."
Dirk Carter said.
The first call.
He made was to Daniel Hall, chairman of the Provincial Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
He was one of his biggest backers in Novaria State.
The call went through, but no one answered.
He tried twice, but it was the same.
Unable to reach Daniel Hall.
He decided to call Brian Caldwell, the State Committee Secretary.
The result was the same.
No one was taking his calls.
Determined.
He prepared to make the final call to Argentum.
Where his ultimate backer resided.
But as he brought up the number, he paused.
Looked over.
Dirk Carter had been watching him, knowing that once this call was made, he would have played all his cards.
At this thought.
He put away his phone.
He said, "Fine, since Secretary Carter is indeed performing his duty, I'll cooperate with you, but I, Adonis Forrest, have nothing to fear, and I'll be returning soon after…"
Just as he was about to make a temporary concession.
From behind the podium.
A hoarse voice shouted, "I accuse... I accuse... that bastard Adonis Forrest just raped me... Adonis Forrest just raped me..."
Then.
A woman in disarray ran out through a small door.
Who else could it be but Grace Lewis?
