Chapter 334: A Walk Through Qinghai Sect
None of Gu He’s own disciples had accompanied them.
The other three disciples all belonged to different elders.
Bai He himself had only come along to join in the excitement.
...
"Master."
Xu Feng had originally been with the other three disciples.
Bai He had been wandering around on his own, intending to look around Qinghai Sect.
Now Xu Feng had caught up with him.
"Master, where are you going? Are you planning to look for Senior Brother?"
Bai He glanced around in every direction.
"Keep your voice down."
"Master, the way you’re acting is going to make people think we’re sneaking around stealing something."
Really?
Fortunately, there was no one else nearby.
"I’m just taking a walk and getting familiar with Qinghai Sect."
"Then why don’t we ask the disciple who received us earlier to show us around?"
Bai He was speechless.
"Don’t trouble other people. Besides, are you even that familiar with him?"
"We weren’t before, but now we’re very familiar."
Bai He really should never have doubted Xu Feng’s ability to make friends.
His social skills were something Bai He would probably never be able to match in this lifetime.
"Hu Jintao! Hu Jintao!"
Xu Feng seemed to have spotted Hu Jintao.
He shouted toward the left while waving enthusiastically at him.
After lowering his head to say a few words to the disciples beside him, Hu Jintao walked over with a bright smile on his face.
"Elder Bai, Brother Xu."
"My Master wants to take a look around. I was wondering if you have the time to accompany him."
Hu Jintao was briefly taken aback, then immediately agreed.
"Of course I do. Elder Bai, please."
Bai He felt rather embarrassed, but he could only brace himself and accept.
"Master, I just remembered that I have something else to take care of, so I’ll be leaving first. Hu Jintao, remember this. My Master sometimes has trouble remembering the way back, so you must personally escort him back."
"Of course."
Bai He felt that Xu Feng was obviously doing this on purpose.
Unfortunately, he could not think of any excuse to refuse.
Very soon, only he and Hu Jintao remained.
"Then I’ll have to trouble you."
Bai He spoke somewhat awkwardly.
Hu Jintao’s smile remained as warm as ever.
"It’s no trouble at all. Elder Bai, where would you like to go?"
"It’s my first time here, so I don’t really know. Why don’t you lead the way?"
"Very well."
Hu Jintao was truly a very considerate gentleman.
He did not walk very quickly, and every so often he would glance back to make sure Bai He was still following him.
"This area is where the various sects are staying. We can just have a look from outside. It would be better not to go in and disturb anyone. At this hour, most people are resting."
Bai He nodded.
"Oh."
What Bai He was actually thinking about was Ye Shiyuan.
He wondered whether Ye Shiyuan had come.
But at the moment...
There was no way he would be able to see him.
"Elder Bai, are you looking for someone?"
Bai He froze for a moment before immediately waving his hands.
"No, no. I’m not looking for anyone. I’m just looking around because I’m curious."
"I see."
"Elder Bai is very different from the other elders of Lingguang Sect."
For example, none of the other elders of Lingguang Sect would ever quietly follow behind someone else while sightseeing.
"Maybe it’s because they’ve been cultivating for so many years. I still haven’t completely adjusted."
"I understand. There’s a very beautiful place up ahead. It rained a couple of days ago, so the ground is still rather slippery. Please be careful."
"Alright."
Bai He immediately became much more cautious with every step he took.
...
"Stop wearing that mask all day long. I have no idea who taught you that habit. If your face were truly too ugly to show anyone, then wearing a mask would make sense. But with a face like yours, keeping it hidden instead of letting everyone admire it is honestly a waste."
Ye Shiyuan was holding a brush in his hand, writing a large character on a sheet of paper.
The man who had just pushed open the door and entered voiced his dissatisfaction.
"Didn’t I tell you not to wander around?"
"If I didn’t wander around, how would I ever hear useful information? Are you really determined to do this?"
Ye Shiyuan set the brush down.
He looked at the large character written across the white sheet of paper.
With a light touch of his finger and a simple spell, the paper instantly burned to ashes.
"What information could possibly make me change my mind?"
"Heh. As it happens, there really is something."
Ye Shiyuan paused before letting out a cold laugh.
"He won’t come."
"So, aren’t you supposed to know him very well? I remember you once said your Master was a lively and cheerful young boy. What is so strange about him coming to Qinghai Sect?"
Seeing that Ye Shiyuan remained silent, Zhang Youxia continued.
"I also happened to hear another piece of news. Are you interested in hearing it?"
By now, Zhang Youxia had long grown accustomed to Ye Shiyuan’s attitude and did not mind it at all.
"I happened to overhear that the Fourth Elder of Lingguang Sect and Elder Shi Yuqi of Qinghai Sect seem to be discussing a marriage alliance. It concerns his only son and one of Lingguang Sect’s elders."
Ye Shiyuan wore a black mask, making it impossible to see the expression on his face.
"I originally thought that the reason you refused Miss Su was because you still had feelings you couldn’t let go of. But if you truly have moved on, then I actually think that Hu Jintao is a pretty good match. He is about the same age as Elder Bai He. They are both talented and good looking. They seem well suited for each other."
