A Farmer's Journey To Immortality
Chapter 941: Preparing to Leave P1
Aksai had finished sorting Varesh’s belongings, but the work was far from over.
There were still the storage rings of the other Lords he had killed.
Compared to Varesh’s possessions, their belongings were considerably less impressive. Most of them consisted of cultivation resources, Spirit Stones, pills, artifacts, talismans, and various personal items.
Still, there were bound to be some useful things among them.
Aksai picked up the storage ring belonging to the Sun Ocean Lord.
The moment he swept through it with his Spirit Sense, his expression changed.
"Hm?"
There was far more inside than he had expected.
The Sun Ocean Lord’s personal belongings were there, along with the resources accumulated by the Sun Ocean Society.
But those weren’t what caught Aksai’s attention.
It was two jade scrolls sitting quietly in a separate corner of the storage space.
Aksai carefully took them out.
The moment he examined their contents, his eyes widened.
"These..."
Nuri immediately began analyzing the inscriptions on the jade scrolls.
[My Liege, these appear to be complete cultivation inheritances belonging to Eastern and Western Limiya Gates.]
Aksai’s expression became increasingly strange as he read the titles.
They were the core cultivation techniques of two of the Big Five Sects.
He had unexpectedly obtained both.
"How did the Sun Ocean Lord get his hands on these?"
Aksai frowned.
He knew that the core inheritances of the Big Five were not things that could be casually obtained.
Yet two of them were now sitting inside the storage ring of a dead Lord.
He immediately began examining the records stored alongside the inheritances.
What he discovered left him speechless. Thankfully, he found Droven’s journal in another storage ring that explained the whole incident.
It turned out that the situation on the mainland had changed drastically after the failed ambush against the Purple River Sect.
The royal faction had seemingly decided that there was no point hiding anymore. They had openly accepted the support of the Shinayin Empire. And just as Aksai had previously estimated, their justification was predictable and almost laughably noble.
They claimed that they were liberating the commons consisting of low-level cultivators, and mortals from the tyranny of the regional sects.
As a result of the open declaration, the mainland of the subcontinent had become a battlefield.
The regional sects and royal factions were now openly fighting each other across vast territories.
And the Big Five Sects were among the primary targets.
The Eastern and Western Limiya Gates were especially unfortunate.
Their sects were relatively close geographically, with the massive Limiya Lake serving as the natural boundary between them.
The Eastern Limiya Gate was ruled by Lord Dahila Whitejade, whose Dao Name was the White Limiya Lord.
The Western Limiya Gate was ruled by Rose Redjade, whose Dao Name was the Red Limiya Lord.
The two women were famous rivals. But they also shared the same origin as both had been disciples of a single master.
Nobody knew what sparked the conflict between the two women. Their rivalry had lasted for countless years, but it had never truly reached the point where either wanted the other dead.
However, they eventually came to face a common enemy.
The combined forces of the native royal faction and the Shinayin Empire descended upon their territories almost simultaneously.
The attack was led by two imperial Lords.
A mid-stage female Lord named Saelyr was tasked with dealing with the Red Limiya Lord. Another mid-stage female Lord named Neshara was assigned to the White Limiya Lord.
The strategy was similar to what had been used against the Purple River Sect.
The difference was that this time, there was no elaborate ambush.
It was a direct assault.
The two Limiya Gates were forced into a desperate battle.
Days passed.
Neither side managed to completely overwhelm the other. While the royal faction had the imperial support as a clear-cut advantage, the two sects knew how to play in their home turfs.
Eventually, the situation became so dangerous that the Red and White Limiya Lords made a decision they had probably never expected to make.
They joined forces.
The two sects merged their forces into a single army.
For former rivals, their cooperation was surprisingly seamless. They understood each other’s fighting styles and trusted one another.
More importantly, they knew exactly what the other was capable of.
Unfortunately, their combined strength still wasn’t enough.
The royal faction had brought too many imperial cultivators with them.
And Saelyr and Neshara were both mid-stage Lords.
With the imperial armies supporting them, the two Limiya Gates were gradually pushed toward destruction.
After another day of fighting, the Red and White Limiya Lords made another decision.
They would stay behind.
Their remaining core members would escape.
The two female Lords launched a desperate assault against Saelyr and Neshara, attempting to create a path for their disciples and core members to flee.
And for a while, it worked.
The cooperation between the Red and White Limiya Lords was extraordinary.
Years of rivalry had allowed them to understand each other better than most allies ever could.
Saelyr and Neshara simply couldn’t replicate that level of coordination despite their imperial advantage.
The two native Lords gradually gained the upper hand.
They were injured, exhausted, and fighting against overwhelming numbers, but they still managed to push the two imperial Lords into a dangerous position.
Then tragedy struck.
And its name was Varesh.
Aksai’s expression became complicated.
According to the records, Varesh had been casually wandering through the subcontinent at the time.
He had been searching for Kalina.
More specifically, he was looking for the Sword Form Embryo that she had supposedly obtained.
When he happened to arrive near Limiya Lake, he sensed the enormous battle taking place.
Varesh apparently had nothing particularly important to do at the time.
So he decided to lend his fellow imperial cultivators a hand.
Just like that.
A single late-stage true sword cultivator entered the battlefield.
The balance immediately collapsed.
Varesh’s sword swept across the battlefield with terrifying ease.
The Red Limiya Lord was already injured from an earlier assassination attempt.
Under Varesh’s assault, she couldn’t hold on for long.
In the end, she was killed by his sword.
