A Farmer's Journey To Immortality

Chapter 960: Choices P10: Curing Light Devouring Physique?

Zinnia handled external affairs, maintained contact with important factions, managed diplomatic matters, and occasionally served as Aksai’s personal messenger.

She had effectively become one of the bridges between Aksai and the outside world.

Her current position had also brought her into contact with the Blackblood Sect.

Aksai had sent Zinnia there as his representative and trade manager, allowing her to oversee trade between Emerald Cove Island and the Blackblood Sect while simultaneously handling matters related to Humeyin.

It was Zinnia who had originally carried Aksai’s message to Haitin Blackblood and facilitated the conversation that eventually led to Humeyin’s journey to Emerald Cove Island (Chapter 826).

On the surface, there was nothing particularly unusual about Zinnia’s role.

She was simply an exceptionally capable maid entrusted with important responsibilities.

But there was a secret behind her identity that nobody except Aksai in Dadangar World knew.

Zinnia wasn’t originally from Dadangar World.

She had come from the Martial World of Sharang. Because of this, it had also taken quite a while for her to speak Dadangar World’s native language fluently.

She had served Aksai there as one of his head maids as well, and after Aksai had finished his affairs in that world, he brought her into Dadangar through the Myriad Worlds Painting.

Originally, Aksai had no plans to bring Zinnia along with him to his main homeworld. However, Zinnia had a fear of being abandoned by Aksai so he was compelled to bring her to Dadangar World after putting several restrictions on her (Chapter 603).

Only Aksai and Zinnia knew this truth.

The transition between worlds hadn’t been easy for her. Zinnia had needed time to adjust to the vastly different environment, cultivation system, and way of life in Dadangar.

Eventually, however, she chose to continue serving Aksai in the same capacity.

There was another difference between Zinnia and most of Aksai’s Spirit cultivator subordinates.

She was also a genuine martial artist who also pursued the Qi cultivation path along with her recently learned Spirit cultivation path.

Her Spirit cultivation was only at the initial stage of Foundation Establishment, but her body cultivation had transformed her into an Aurous Body path martial arts practitioner.

One had to say that Zinnia’s talent in Spirit cultivation was no less than her Qi cultivation and martial arts talent. Even though she only had an initial stage Foundation Establishment realm at this point, one had to remember that she had started her Spirit cultivation journey not too long ago.

Zinnia’s dual path pursuit gave her a completely separate foundation to rely upon.

She wasn’t someone who needed to depend entirely on her Spirit cultivation to protect herself.

For Aksai, this made Zinnia particularly useful when dealing with the outside world.

She could negotiate when negotiation was needed.

She could carry messages when words were required.

And if things went wrong...

She could fight her way out.

At this moment, however, Zinnia was sitting quietly across from the Blackblood Sect’s elder.

Her expression was calm and composed.

The third person in the reception hall was the reason for the entire convoy’s existence.

Humeyin Blackblood.

Unlike the other two, almost nothing of her appearance could be seen.

Her entire body was concealed beneath layers of black robes.

Black fabric covered her from head to toe, while additional black bandages were wrapped around almost every exposed portion of her body.

Only a small portion of her face remained visible.

At first glance, she looked less like a cultivator and more like a mysterious figure who had stepped out of an ancient forbidden tomb. Sort of like a mummified figure who used black bandages instead of white.

There was a very good reason for that appearance.

Humeyin possessed the Light Devouring Physique (Chapter 467).

She had to travel from the Wild Devil Lands and go through Haai Di first and then the mainland before crossing the sea to reach the Emerald Cove Island. She limits her exposure to the light during her travels somehow.

Humeyin’s physique constantly consumed Light Essence from its surroundings.

That ability gave her extraordinary advantages.

She could cultivate at an astonishing speed, and her comprehension of both the Light and Darkness elements was exceptionally high. With a compatible cultivation technique, she would encounter almost no normal cultivation bottlenecks.

But the same physique that blessed her cultivation also made ordinary sunlight a deadly threat.

The Light Essence absorbed by her body could accumulate beyond a dangerous threshold.

When that happened, her body would gradually become transparent, resembling an illuminated glass.

And if the accumulated Light Essence became excessive...

Her body could literally begin to burn from within.

Even prolonged exposure to a bright sky could become dangerous.

Because of this, Humeyin had spent most of her life avoiding sunlight.

During the night, she could safely absorb the Light Essence contained within moonlight and use it to accelerate her cultivation.

At night, she was at her strongest.

Her Spirit Spells could also become considerably more powerful because she could control the Light Essence stored within her body and use it to empower her spells.

During the day, however, everything changed.

Her Spirit Spells weakened.

Her body became fragile.

And excessive exposure to sunlight could turn her own physique against her.

She was essentially a glass cannon during the daytime.

That weakness was the reason her late father, Hayaat Blackblood, had kept her existence hidden from almost everyone within the Blackblood Sect.

Humeyin was already a genuine Nascent Soul seed despite being exceptionally young.

If she matured normally, she had the potential to become an extremely powerful cultivator.

But an enemy didn’t need to defeat her at night.

They only needed to find her beneath the sun.

As such, Humeyin had rarely been allowed to leave the Blackblood Sect’s grounds.

And this journey to Emerald Cove Island was the first time she had traveled such a great distance and remained away from the sect for so long.

Her appearance during the journey was therefore unavoidable.

Humeyin sat silently in the reception hall, waiting for the man who had invited her to Emerald Cove Island.

She had come here with questions she had never dared to ask aloud.

Could he really cure her?

And if he did... would she really have to marry him?

She had barely arrived, yet none of the three people in the reception hall knew that Aksai had already made a decision that would completely change the circumstances surrounding their meeting.

He was leaving Emerald Cove Island.
