Chapter 1354: Chapter 1354: Mu Chen Is Gone!
Inside the car, there was a moment of silence as Zhuang Zeyang met his son’s gaze, his expression suddenly becoming sharp.
With his grip slightly tightening on the steering wheel, some things that Zhuang Yi originally planned to suppress deep in his heart now gave him a sense of crisis due to his father’s attitude today.
It was also the first time he spoke to him in such a disrespectful tone.
A moment later, Zhuang Zeyang spoke, "The light is green."
Zhuang Yi abruptly turned his head, seeing the red light had turned green, and suddenly, the air of tension inside the car dissipated.
He took a deep breath and pressed the accelerator.
Some things cannot be said too bluntly; his father is a smart man and understands his intentions.
Throughout the day, Mu Yan stayed at the funeral home with Luo Yao.
Due to Zheng Shufen and others sneaking in during the morning, Jiang Jingheng later strengthened the security, and everything went smoothly afterward.
In the evening, considering Mu Yan was too tired, Jiang Jingheng directly took her home.
It was already mid-July, extremely hot.
Mu Yan didn’t have much appetite, took a few bites, and couldn’t eat anymore. She took a shower and went to sleep.
In the middle of the night, she was startled awake by a nightmare, shouting loudly, "Mu Chen."
Jiang Jingheng opened his eyes, switched on the wall lamp, and saw tears streaming down her face.
He hurriedly hugged her tight and asked, "Did you have a nightmare?"
Mu Yan looked at him, tears pouring out uncontrollably, "I just had a nightmare. Chenchen was lying on the operating table, covered in blood. He told me he didn’t want to die, he wanted to live, he also said he was in pain and asked me to take him away."
"It’s just a dream, it’s not real, and dreams are always the opposite," Jiang Jingheng comforted.
"No, Chenchen must be unwilling," Mu Yan sniffled, "It surely was painful when he left."
"Jorge said he was given anesthesia at that time, no pain, he went peacefully, you saw this too."
Mu Yan didn’t say anything, but she couldn’t feel better.
Even though Jiang Jingheng usually could make her smile, at this moment he had no solution.
His words couldn’t dispel the pain rooted deep in her heart; she needed time to fade the traces Mu Chen left in her life. Even if it couldn’t fade, she had to learn to store away the memories related to him.
Later that night, no matter how hard she tried, Mu Yan couldn’t fall asleep, her mind filled with that dream.
Jiang Jingheng stayed awake as well, gently patting her back, coaxing her to sleep.
Mu Yan eventually couldn’t resist the fatigue of the past few days and fell asleep.
Upon awakening, the dream was clear, but as time passed, it was forgotten.
The next morning, when Mu Yan woke up, she didn’t remember yesterday’s dream at all.
After washing up, she went downstairs and saw Yu Ma making breakfast. She volunteered to help and asked, "Yu Ma, is the porridge ready?"
"Young Madam, do you want to have porridge?" Yu Ma asked. She hadn’t made porridge this morning, mainly because the summer heat made it hard to have an appetite for porridge in the morning.
"No, it’s for Chenchen," Mu Yan said with a smile.
Soon, the smile disappeared from her face, and she turned to walk outside. Just as she stepped out of the kitchen, she saw Jiang Jingheng standing at the stairway, watching her.
She looked at Jiang Jingheng, trying hard to muster a smile and said good morning, but the smile looked worse than crying.
Jiang Jingheng walked over and asked, "Are you hungry?"
Mu Yan shook her head.
Jiang Jingheng lifted his hand to caress her face and softly said, "Would you like to go out for a walk?"
Mu Yan still shook her head.
"Then let’s sit on the sofa for a while, breakfast will be ready soon."
Mu Yan stood there without moving, Jiang Jingheng patiently watched her, his gaze still gentle.
With her head down, Mu Yan finally said after a while, "I want to send breakfast to Mu Chen, but then I realize, he’s not here."
