Chapter 1571: Chapter 1561: Unease

Mu Yan was already sleepy, and after being bothered by someone for half the day, she fell asleep within minutes after closing her eyes.

But in the middle of the night, she suddenly felt like she couldn’t breathe.

She opened her eyes, consciousness returning, and felt someone holding her, gently kissing her face.

"Husband?" she called out.

The person beside her froze, then said, "Did I wake you up?"

"No, why aren’t you asleep yet?" Mu Yan asked, raising her hand to touch his cheek, noticing the sweat on his forehead.

But the room wasn’t hot; it even had a slight chill.

She thought of a possibility and asked, "Husband, are you feeling unwell?"

"No, I just had a nightmare," Jiang Jingheng replied softly.

"What kind of dream?" Mu Yan asked instinctively.

"Nothing, be good, go back to sleep."

Mu Yan frowned slightly; breaking out in a cold sweat and saying it’s nothing, plus he was holding her so tightly, how could she sleep?

She thought of another possibility and asked, "Was your dream related to me?"

He didn’t deny it, which made Mu Yan more certain of her guess.

She embraced him back, whispering, "I’m here, I won’t leave you."

"Okay." Jiang Jingheng lowered his head and kissed her lips, saying, "Sleep now."

"Okay."

Jiang Jingheng released her, moved a little away, and suddenly felt a hand holding his.

He turned his head to look at her, the heavy curtains blocking the outside light, yet he seemed able to see her bright eyes through the darkness.

He curled his lips into a smile, closed his eyes, finally able to sleep peacefully for the first night in days.

He slept straight through to the next morning; when Jiang Jingheng woke up, he could feel the glaring sun even through the curtains.

He closed his eyes again, instinctively reaching out beside him, but it was empty.

He jolted awake, immediately sat up, and looked around; she was nowhere to be seen.

Could it be that everything last night was just a dream?

He glanced around the room and realized this wasn’t the room he used to stay in, a sense of relief washed over him.

He threw off the covers, got out of bed, grabbed the clothes on the sofa, and went out to find her.

Opening the door, he saw her coming over with a tray.

Seeing him at the door, she smiled and said, "You’re awake, have you washed up? Breakfast is ready."

Jiang Jingheng strode over and took the tray from her hands.

Mu Yan smiled at him and led the way.

Back in the room, Mu Yan walked to the bedside to fold the quilt, but as soon as her hand touched it, someone snatched it away.

"What are you doing?" Mu Yan asked, puzzled, looking at him.

"I’ll do it." Jiang Jingheng said, his head down, arranging the quilt expertly, quickly finishing the task.

Mu Yan walked to his side, hugged his neck, and said, "Mr. Jiang is so skillful, I’m so clumsy. I wanted to make breakfast for you this morning, but when I tasted it, I realized I’d added too much salt and overcooked the noodles."

"These are things I should be doing. It’s my fault today for sleeping too long," Jiang Jingheng said softly.

"What do you mean by things you should do? You’re allowed to be good to me, but I’m not allowed to be good to you?" Mu Yan huffed softly, "I just haven’t done it in a while, forgot. I’ll be better once I get the hang of it."

Jiang Jingheng knew he couldn’t win against her, so he agreed, "Okay."

Mu Yan remembered a topic and asked, "Husband, was yesterday’s breakfast good?"

She was initially happy that he finished the breakfast she made with love yesterday, but now she feared he had eaten something awful.

Because she felt unwell yesterday morning, she hadn’t tasted it.

Without thinking, Jiang Jingheng said, "It was delicious."
