’Now that I have a powerful cousin to back me up, I won’t have to worry about Cedric Grant targeting Skylar Hayes, Clara Grant, and the Quinn Family, will I?’

Marcus Jarvis glanced at Skylar Hayes, then replied, "You’re my cousin. If you’re in any trouble, of course I’ll help you."

Cedric Grant waved his hand and chuckled. "Seth, given my relationship with your father, there’s no need to be so formal."

Marcus Jarvis glanced at him, then at Seth Quinn, and asked casually, "Are you and Mr. Theodore Quinn very close, Cedric?"

’Logically, Cedric Grant is divorced from Skylar Hayes, and his relationship with the mother and daughter is clearly strained. Even if his daughter’s marriage made him an in-law to the Quinn Family, their relationship shouldn’t be this close, should it?’

"Oh," Seth Quinn began to explain, "Mr. Grant once saved my father’s life."

"Well, Cedric, that’s a truly meritorious deed. Saving a life is the greatest good one can do, after all. So, may I ask, where did your father fall in?" Marcus Jarvis’s tone was light and casual, but the look he gave Jean Jarvis and Cedric Grant was piercing.

"It was—"

"Oh, Cousin,"

Seth had barely gotten a word out before Jean Jarvis cut in, sounding a little rushed. "That was so long ago, let’s not bring it up again. Cedric just happened to save Brother Quinn by chance. It was no big deal, really. Right, Cedric? Heh heh..."
