Clara Grant was so taken aback she could barely breathe. ’When did I ever say that? When did I ever discriminate against disabled people? I was just trying to be polite and greet him, okay?’

’Has this man been cooped up at home for so long he’s forgotten how to interact with people?’

’The rumors said he was short-tempered and eccentric, and it looks like they weren’t wrong! He can twist a simple sentence into something like that. If that’s not eccentric, what is?’

’Lashing out at people over nothing—you call that not being short-tempered?’

’Besides, with a personality like his, it’s not just a physical disability. His body might be broken, but his character is even more warped!’

Clara Grant couldn’t help but feel a pang of pity for Sarah. ’Married to a man like him, who knows how much he bullies Sarah behind closed doors!’

Before she could retort, Seth Quinn spoke up, his voice stern. "Mr. Stratton, if I recall, I’ve said before that my wife is not for an outsider to bully."

As he spoke, he glanced around at the crowd. "Besides, today is my father’s birthday banquet. If you intend to cause a scene here, Mr. Stratton, wouldn’t that be a bit ill-mannered?"

Ewan Stratton, however, didn’t get angry. Instead, a smirk played on his lips. "How could I forget? President Quinn is obsessively protective of his wife. But, Mrs. Quinn, I don’t care what you’re like, just as long as you don’t become a bad influence on my wife."

Clara Grant scoffed. "I won’t be a bad influence on Sarah, and you’d better not break her with your bullying! Or else, I won’t let you get away with it!"

Though the undercurrents between them were turbulent, their expressions remained calm and their voices low, so to any onlookers, nothing seemed amiss.

But Sarah Shelby still glanced around worriedly before hastily saying to Clara Grant, "Clara, we’ll go over there for a bit. You two go on."

’Today is Theodore Quinn’s birthday banquet, a joyous occasion for the Quinn Family. What’s gotten into Ewan Stratton? Is he trying to ruin their party?’

’If I’d known this would happen, I never would have come with him!’

For Sarah Shelby’s sake, Clara Grant didn’t want to press the issue with Ewan Stratton. After all, he really was disabled. If she made too big a scene, people might actually think she looked down on people with disabilities.

She nodded at Sarah Shelby. Sarah began to push the wheelchair away, but a voice from behind called out to them, "Ewan, Sarah."

Sarah Shelby and Ewan Stratton both turned to see Simon Linden, Vera Stratton, and Rowan Linden walking over. It had been Vera who called out to them.

Sarah Shelby stopped. After the trio walked up and greeted the hosts, Seth Quinn and Clara Grant, she politely addressed them, "Uncle, Aunt... Dr. Linden."

Vera Stratton was quite fond of Sarah Shelby. She stepped forward, patted her hand, and said with a smile, "Sarah, Rowan is Ewan’s first cousin, which makes him your cousin, too. Why are you still calling him Dr. Linden? That’s so formal. Just call him Rowan."

Rowan Linden had met Sarah Shelby before through Clara Grant, but he never expected that this cheerful young woman would one day become his cousin-in-law.

So when he saw her at the Stratton family home and learned she was now his cousin-in-law, he had been quite surprised.

He smiled as well, echoing his mother. "That’s right, Sister-in-law. You can just call me by my name from now on."

Sarah Shelby looked at him and gave a faint smile, but she didn’t say anything.

’He was the one Clara had wanted to set her up with. But in the end, just like Clara, she had fallen into the cliché of becoming sister-in-law to the man she was once interested in.’
