Chapter 786: Chapter 783: He Will Never Agree

Seth Quinn quickened his pace and reached for her hand, but she subtly pulled away.

Seth Quinn was resigned. ’Is she really determined to ignore me? All because of one scene?’

Once the two of them had left, one after the other, Eve, looking utterly perplexed, asked Mrs. Wyatt, "Mrs. Wyatt, what’s wrong with the madam? It seems like she’s having a spat with the master."

Mrs. Wyatt had noticed something was off about Clara the moment she came downstairs. She shook her head and sighed, "The madam rarely gets angry. The master must have really provoked her this time. Oh dear, I just hope he can patch things up with her quickly."

Eve nodded in agreement. "You’re right. It feels strange when she isn’t smiling. I’m not used to it."

...

As the two of them walked out of Orchidia’s main gate, Seth went to get the car. Clara didn’t bother waiting for him, continuing straight ahead on her own.

Seth quickly drove to catch up with her and pulled over. He leaned across the seat to open the passenger door for her. He’d expected to have to coax her a bit to get in, but to his surprise, the moment the door opened, Clara simply bent down and got in.

’Even though she wanted nothing to do with him, she still had to go to the main house for breakfast. She couldn’t let his parents worry, nor could she let them see that there was a problem between them.’

Seth glanced at her tense expression, then offered a small smile and asked, "Still mad? It’s just one scene. I’m not even afraid a bad take will hurt Aegis’s image, so why are you making such a fuss?"

’She loved acting, so he let her indulge her passion to her heart’s content. He’d provide the resources for whatever project she wanted, and he didn’t care whether it made or lost money. All he wanted was to make his woman happy.’

’But intimacy scenes? He would never, ever agree to those.’

Her expression tightened at his words. ’Was she mad at him over a single scene? Of course not. She was mad because he didn’t respect her profession or her identity as an actress. She was mad at his absolute refusal to budge, not even an inch. He was being completely unreasonable.’

When he saw that she wasn’t speaking and her expression had only darkened, Seth didn’t dare say another word.

The car pulled up to the entrance of The Plumstead. The moment it stopped, Clara pushed her door open, got out, and headed inside without waiting for him.

As it happened, Miles Quinn was also getting out of a car. He spotted Clara and quickly called out, "Clara!" He then glanced at Seth, who was getting out of the car behind her. "Why didn’t you wait for my brother?"

The instant Clara turned around, a smile was already gracing her lips. "Oh, he was being too slow, and I was afraid Mom and Dad would be kept waiting. Miles, aren’t you supposed to be filming on location? What brings you home?"

"The production gave the cast and crew a two-day break as a little reward."

"So you just got back yesterday?"

"Yeah. I got home in the middle of the night, and I still had to drag myself out of bed at the crack of dawn for breakfast. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have bothered coming back. I’m exhausted." He punctuated the complaint with a perfectly-timed yawn.

While the two were talking, Seth had already joined them. He glanced at Miles and said, "If you’re that tired, go back to sleep after breakfast. And don’t go out fooling around again."

"Hey, Bro, what’s that supposed to mean?" Miles retorted nonchalantly. "When have I ever ’fooled around’? Even when I go out, it’s for a proper get-together with friends, okay?"

The three of them walked into the living room just as Theodore Quinn and Sienna Hale were coming downstairs.

"Dad, Mom."

All three of them greeted the couple. Seth tried taking Clara’s hand again, and this time, she didn’t resist, allowing him to hold it smoothly.

He glanced over at her. She wore a perfectly serene smile, showing no trace of her previous unhappiness. He finally let out a sigh of relief.
