A second chance with my billionaire husband
Chapter 2191: Yun Miao 2
The male guests were having a pleasant conversation, joking amongst those familiar with Yan Song, while Yan Song sat alone in the middle. Although he seemed much more approachable than usual, those young men still dared not casually engage him in conversation.
Familiarity was merely courteous; in reality, as an outstanding figure of his generation, Yan Song, despite being born into the top-tier nobility of the Yan Family, grew up in Jiangzhou and couldn’t play along with this group of sons of rich families. Furthermore, his arrogant nature and aloof demeanor always gave him an unapproachable air. After returning to Jiangzhou, he joined the military shortly after, and thus these people rarely encountered him. Their parents were always praising him while turning around to scold them as wasteful heirs, and over time, this comparison birthed resentment and discontent in their hearts.
However, in the presence of this handsome, cold man, those minor feelings were buried deep, not daring to emerge even slightly.
“Congratulations to Master Yan, successful in his career at such a young age. Moreover, he’s married a beautiful wife and has two lovely daughters; he truly is a winner in life. We can only hope to match his achievements.” The speaker, Young Master Zhao, was infamous in the Capital City as a playboy, though he at least knew whom to offend and whom to get close to.
Yan Song merely curled his lips slightly, lifted the wine glass before him, and raised it towards him, “Thank you.”
Tipping his head back, he downed the entire drink.
Young Master Zhao laughed and said, “Master Yan is straightforward.” With that, he too drained his glass in one gulp.
The crowd realized Master Yan wasn’t as aloof as he seemed; although his personality was rather cold, he was easy to talk to. These spoiled young masters were best at creating a lively atmosphere, and amidst banter and jokes, they seemingly became good friends with Yan Song. In Yan Song’s eyes, though, they were merely a group of somewhat clever but unambitious rich kids. However, sometimes these spoiled brats could come in handy, so it was best not for things to get too tense.
Once the alcohol flowed freely, so did the words. Young Master Zhao, clutching Yan Song’s sleeve, lamented, and Yan Song discreetly retrieved it.
“My dad is always saying how amazing and successful you are, while criticizing me for being wasteful and unambitious. I am trying, but it’s just my bad luck that nothing ever works out….”
A lot of the young heirs listening to Young Master Zhao’s words felt a kinship, all looking at Yan Song with a face full of grievance.
Yan Song calmly sipped his water, utterly unperturbed.
“A man should build a family before establishing a career. You, with your successful career and beautiful wife and daughters, are undeniably a winner in life. Do you know my dad keeps pressuring me to go on blind dates? Each woman is more peculiar than the last. They say marriage is the grave of love; I don’t want to enter the coffin so soon.”
Several people nodded in agreement.
Yan Song was undoubtedly the ‘ideal’ child in every parent’s eyes, with a successful career and happy marriage, allowing Yan Nanmo and Zhuang Xiyue to have grandchildren early, which further heightened the urgency of those parents eager for grandchildren. They nagged at their sons constantly, some even threatening to kick them out if they didn’t bring home a wife soon.
While these people took turns complaining and venting, a servant walked in from outside and respectfully said to Yan Song, “Young Master, Mr. Ji has arrived.”
Yan Song unhurriedly stood up and went out to greet him.
Everyone was slightly tipsy. Yan Song, usually high and mighty, didn’t associate warmly even with these top ranking heirs of the Capital City; he maintained only a surface-level politeness.
Who was this Mr. Ji anyway, to warrant being personally received by Master Yan? He must be someone of importance.
The group exchanged glances, feeling a bit indignant, wondering why? Could his status surpass theirs?
“Hmph.” Young Master Zhao snorted lightly, finishing his glass and shakily standing up.
Looking up, he saw a young man walking in from outside. If not for the mature demeanor offsetting his somewhat youthful visage, everyone would have thought he was a high school student. That face… Young Master Zhao revealed a lecherous grin.
He even witnessed the usually indifferent Yan Song actively handshake with the man, wearing a kindly smile…
Kindly? Something seemed off about it; in any case, he treated him unlike anyone else.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Yan Song led the man to a seat beside him. The man sat down slowly, offering a warm smile to the crowd. Compared to Yan Song’s frosty demeanor, this smile was like a gentle spring rain in March.
“Master Yan, won’t you introduce us?”
The group of young heirs instinctively sensed a warning due to this man’s strong presence and unfamiliar face. Young Master Zhao, his fingers caressing the rim of his glass, chuckled darkly.
