Chapter 168: Chapter 168: Unleashing the Beast (Part 1)
Seraphina Sterling was brought back to a villa by Terrence Grant, his residence in Sanford. Normally, only a single housekeeper was there to clean. Seeing her employer suddenly return, she recovered from her shock and immediately went to prepare dinner.
The two of them were in the living room, staring blankly at each other. Seraphina Sterling frowned. ’What has gotten into Terrence Grant? He drags me all the way here, only to not say a single word!’
"Don’t you have anything to say to me?" Terrence Grant felt all his pent-up anger was for nothing. ’She has no idea what I’m feeling right now!’
Seraphina Sterling’s frown deepened. "Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that? Why did you bring me here?"
Terrence Grant was at a loss for words. He finally understood what it meant to be so angry that you couldn’t be angry anymore. The sheer helplessness of the situation was overwhelming.
"How did you cross Ronan Winters? When something this big happened, why didn’t you tell me? Ronan Winters is a wolf that devours people whole! If Xiaonian hadn’t told me, if I hadn’t gotten there in time, do you have any idea what you would have been facing?"
Terrence Grant abruptly pulled Seraphina Sterling into his arms. God, when he’d heard she’d also been captured by Ronan Winters, he had been so worried! Seeing that Miles Winters had been shot twice made him even more terrified for her.
’If he hadn’t experienced it firsthand, he would never have believed that he, Terrence Grant, could ever worry this much about someone. That feeling—like his heart was suspended in midair, refusing to drop back down—was unbearable.’
’He was so worried about her, and she was completely oblivious! She didn’t even understand why he was worried. It felt absolutely awful!’
Seraphina Sterling was stunned by Terrence Grant’s action. Outside of training, they had never been this close. Feeling the steady beat of his heart, a faint scent of lemon wafted into her senses. It was incredibly reassuring, incredibly calming. A deep sense of exhaustion began to well up inside her.
She kept telling herself, ’Just for a moment. Just rest for a moment. That’s all.’
"Terrence Grant, thank you for today. Crossing Ronan Winters was an accident. I never expected Miles Galloway’s backer to be him! But... it’s all taken care of now." Her head was buried in his chest, and her soft, muffled voice sounded like a lover’s whisper.
Terrence Grant already had feelings for the woman in his arms, and after not seeing her for so many days, his longing had reached its peak. Hearing Seraphina Sterling’s soft voice now, those feelings were instantly ignited.
He abruptly lowered his head and captured Seraphina Sterling’s lips. The kiss was deep and possessive, as if to calm his own frantic heartbeat.
Perhaps it was the recent string of upheavals, or perhaps it was the danger of the day’s ordeal. Seraphina Sterling was utterly exhausted. Or perhaps it was because Terrence Grant’s embrace felt so safe. Whatever the reason, she was too tired to find the strength to resist.
Seraphina Sterling’s submission only spurred Terrence Grant on. His kiss grew more forceful, more frenzied, as if he wanted to devour her whole. It was as if he were possessed, all reason thrown to the wind. In that moment, he only wanted to act on his desires, to kiss the girl in his arms with all his might.
He didn’t know how much time had passed before he suddenly realized something was wrong with Seraphina Sterling. He immediately broke the kiss and began shaking her by the shoulders.
"Seraphina Sterling! Seraphina Sterling! Seraphina Sterling!"
But she was completely unresponsive. Terrence Grant scooped her up and carried her upstairs. He quickly dialed a number. "Bring the kit to the villa!" He hung up immediately, not giving the other person a chance to even reply.
