Chapter 220: Chapter 220: Black-bellied Seraphina (Part 3)

But Ronan Winters was to be disappointed. Seraphina Sterling simply shook her head, her resolve unwavering.

’This is a psychological battle,’ Seraphina Sterling knew. ’The first one to give in loses.’ Ronan Winters was the Young Master of The Underground; his mind was an ocean of schemes. To play mind games with him, she couldn’t reveal the slightest crack in her armor. Otherwise, failure was certain.

"Seraphina Sterling! You should know that I chose to cooperate with you—rather than resorting to other methods—precisely because I want to resolve this peacefully! Twenty percent of the profits is not a small sum! Don’t be too greedy!"

Having made several concessions without achieving his desired result, Ronan Winters’s patience was wearing thin. His tone couldn’t help but take on a dangerous edge. He had never been rejected so many times! Before, it was Seraphina Sterling begging him for a partnership, and now, he was the one taking the initiative to increase the investment amount! ’Is this what they mean by how the tables have turned?’

’This is the nature of people from The Underground. The moment things don’t go their way, they resort to threats.’ That was why, from the very beginning, Seraphina had never wanted to get too involved with them. Even as Ronan Winters began to threaten her, she remained perfectly nonchalant and composed. "Don’t be too greedy. I don’t need to tell you what consequences greed can bring; I’m sure you know full well. I’ll return those exact words to you."

The faint smile on Ronan Winters’s face vanished completely. He’d failed to gain the upper hand after several attempts, and now he was being lectured by a young woman! ’This is unprecedented!’

Seraphina Sterling, however, was pleased. Her delicate, rose-colored lips parted slightly. "You’re getting flustered."

’Holy shit! Being lectured once was bad enough, but she’s doing it again! And the worst part is, she’s making perfect sense, not even giving me a chance to argue back! Damn it! This is so damn frustrating! Is she really a girl who just came of age? She’s more like a cunning little demon!’

"It seems the Winters Family hasn’t been very peaceful lately. Otherwise, the ever-composed Young Master wouldn’t have lost his composure like this. Let me guess what’s happening with your family... I heard you have a brother. An illegitimate son who has never been acknowledged by the family. Could it be that this brother of yours has returned to the Winters Family, and is preparing to meddle in its affairs? That would explain why you’re so on edge."

Seraphina Sterling’s smile grew even more brilliant, but only she knew what was truly hidden behind her unfathomable gaze.

If Ronan Winters was merely surprised before, now he was utterly shocked. This was an internal matter of the Winters Family; only family members knew about it! And yet, Seraphina Sterling knew everything in such detail. ’This is unbelievable! If I weren’t hearing this with my own ears, I would never believe it!’ However, it also indirectly proved one thing: this partnership was on. Otherwise, Seraphina wouldn’t have cared so much about the Winters Family’s situation.

"I don’t know where you got your information, but you’re right. I am in urgent need of capital. I need a large amount of money to support what I need to do. State your terms."

"Fifty percent of the profits. No matter how much you invest, I get half of what you earn." This was Seraphina Sterling’s true goal.

She had no capital of her own. Even though she knew how the stock market would move, without a massive amount of funds to back her plays, that knowledge would go to waste. So, from the moment she first approached Ronan Winters, her plan had been to turn him into her own private bank. Only then could she make the most effective use of the information she possessed.

But getting him to agree had truly taken a great deal of effort.

"Seraphina Sterling! You’re too damn audacious!" Before Ronan Winters could say a word, Scar, who was standing beside him, couldn’t take it anymore. "You mean you don’t put in a single cent, but you get to take half of our profits?! You want us to do all the work while you reap the rewards? What a sweet deal for you! How dare you try to take such an advantage! With an appetite that big, aren’t you afraid you’ll choke? I’ve seen arrogant people, but I’ve never seen anyone *this* arrogant!"
