Chapter 303: Chapter 303: Hypocritical Mask (4)
Seraphina Sterling glanced at her, her eyes brimming with scorn. "Since you keep insisting that the family’s interests are above all else, why are you in such a panic? Now that Martin Quinn has Faye Sterling to take his anger out on, I’m sure that no matter how furious he is with the Sterling Family, it’ll take the edge off. He won’t go so far as to bankrupt the Sterling Family, will he!"
"Besides, even if the Quinn Family really comes after the Sterling Family with everything they’ve got, don’t we still have Second Uncle? The Sterling Group has been in business for decades and has deep roots. It’s not as if it can be bankrupted overnight! I have faith in Second Uncle’s abilities. He can definitely save The Sterling Group!"
Jasmine Faulkner gasped for breath. "Easy for you to say! Faye is my daughter, of course I’m worried about her! If anything happens to Faye, I’ll never forgive you!"
"You’re wrong, Aunt Jasmine. If something really happens to Faye Sterling, the one you shouldn’t forgive is yourself! You failed to raise your daughter properly! You’re the one who raised her to be so competitive, narrow-minded, vicious, and irresponsible! Just to put me in my place, Faye Sterling was driving recklessly on the road. If she hadn’t been driving like that, she wouldn’t have scraped Martin Quinn’s car! And none of this would have ever happened!"
A faint smile played on Seraphina Sterling’s lips. "If Faye Sterling had just stopped to apologize right after the accident, instead of taking off without a word, she wouldn’t have infuriated Martin Quinn! If you and Faye Sterling hadn’t tried to use him to get to me, to push all the blame onto my shoulders, Martin Quinn wouldn’t have disrespected the Sterling Family so completely by dragging Faye Sterling away right in the middle of the banquet!"
In a single torrent of words, Seraphina Sterling laid everything bare, from start to finish. She ripped away Jasmine Faulkner’s mask of hypocrisy in front of everyone, presenting the unvarnished truth for all to see.
In that moment, the facade of the kind and virtuous daughter-in-law that Jasmine Faulkner had maintained for years crumbled to dust. What stood before them now was a selfish, utterly hypocritical, and vicious woman.
"If it wasn’t to make me the scapegoat, why would Faye Sterling have transferred the luxury sports car that Second Uncle worked so hard to get her into my name? I may be young, Aunt Jasmine, but I’m not stupid! I know where I stand, and my relationship with Faye Sterling is nowhere near the point of her giving me such an expensive gift! The frame-up was so obvious. Do you really think you’re the only clever one in the world?"
Jasmine Faulkner’s face grew even paler. ’So, Seraphina Sterling knew about our plan even back then. But she didn’t say a thing; she just accepted that luxury car!’
’At the time, I thought Seraphina Sterling was just shallow, that she was so dazzled by the car she couldn’t think straight. Turns out, she was just playing along with us the whole time!’
"It’s a shame, though. Faye Sterling sacrificed her precious car and still couldn’t manage to pin the blame on me! I’m the one who lucked out in the end. I did absolutely nothing and ended up with a luxury car worth a million! Gives me another way to get around!" Seraphina Sterling shrugged, her bright eyes flashing with mock pity.
At a time like this, however, such a look only served to fuel Jasmine Faulkner’s rage.
"Honestly, Faye Sterling brought all of this on herself. She was just asking for it. Trying to use Martin Quinn of all people as her weapon... I have to say, she’s got some serious nerve! A man of Martin Quinn’s stature? His pride would never allow him to be used as a pawn in someone else’s game."
"People from those top-tier families are the ones who play the game, not the ones who get played! Given Faye Sterling’s reckless actions, I suspect it won’t just be her who suffers the consequences. The Sterling Group will probably come under fire as well! Second Uncle had better watch his back."
