Chapter 321: Chapter 321: Declaration of War (Part 1)

With a collective gasp, all eyes in the crowd fixed on Seraphina Sterling. Wasn’t she Wyatt Gallagher’s girlfriend? Didn’t she just race against Miss Gable for him? How did she suddenly get tangled up with Mr. Grant? What was the deal with this girl? She had Mr. Quinn on one side, Mr. Grant on the other, and Wyatt Gallagher in the mix. What on earth was she playing at?

Putting Wyatt Gallagher aside for a moment, Martin Quinn and Terrence Grant were both major figures from incredibly wealthy families. On a normal day, it was a struggle for anyone here to even catch a glimpse of these two, yet today, they had both shown up at the club, and apparently, it was all because of Seraphina Sterling.

Martin Quinn was one thing. His relationship with Seraphina Sterling seemed ambiguous, so even if someone had no choice but to cross her, Mr. Quinn might not have intervened. But Terrence Grant was another story entirely. Had he just confessed his feelings in public? No, this was more than a confession—it was a proposal! A domineering, arrogant declaration, made without the slightest hesitation, and a direct slap in the face to Skylar Thompson.

The crowd stared at Seraphina Sterling, waiting for her response. A public proposal from Mr. Grant! The very same Mr. Grant who was never seen with a woman had just made such an explosive move! A direct proposal!

Huge news!

This was absolutely huge news!

Seraphina Sterling versus Shannon Gable: Seraphina wins!

Now it was Seraphina Sterling versus Skylar Thompson. It was anyone’s guess who would come out on top.

Seraphina Sterling felt the weight of countless eyes on her, and she knew exactly what everyone was thinking. ’What rotten luck,’ she thought. ’Are Terrence Grant and Martin Quinn my personal kryptonite? Just when one of them is gone, the other shows up. Will these two ever give it a rest!’

Skylar Thompson’s eyes were already blazing with fire. She looked like she wanted to eat Seraphina alive.

Seraphina proactively linked her arm through Wyatt Gallagher’s and gave a few soft coughs. "Mr. Grant, if you don’t like Miss Thompson, you should just tell her directly. Why use me as a human shield? And even if you needed one, you could have at least looked more carefully. Why pick me, someone who’s already taken? I’d really love to help you, but in this situation, my hands are truly tied."

Seraphina’s brow furrowed in a troubled expression, and her gentle voice was so full of earnest sincerity that one couldn’t help but believe her.

So Mr. Grant was just looking for a human shield, not actually proposing! To the crowd, it all suddenly made sense.

Terrence Grant wanted to cry.

"Seraphina Sterling! What did you just say?" Terrence Grant’s face was dark as he stared intently at her arm looped through Wyatt Gallagher’s. His deep voice was thick with suppressed rage. ’Taken? She actually had the nerve to say that! If he hadn’t seen her horse spook, if he hadn’t overheard her grand confession to Wyatt Gallagher, how could he possibly have lost his bet to that troublesome woman, Skylar Thompson!’

He had just made a public, vow-like declaration, and she was trying to brush it all off as him needing a "human shield"! Terrence Grant’s deep-set eyes blazed with a furious fire; he looked as if he were about to devour her whole.

Seraphina’s heart began to pound in her chest. ’Compared to Martin Quinn, I’m much more afraid of Terrence Grant,’ she thought. ’Martin may be vicious, cruel, and ruthless, but at least he wears it all on his sleeve, never hiding a thing. He does whatever he wants, acting with true, unbridled abandon. But Terrence Grant wears a thick mask; no one ever knows what he’s really thinking.’

’His unrestrained arrogance is just a facade. As for his true motives? Only he himself knows. If you get on the wrong side of a man like that, he could decide to stab you in the back at any time, and you’d be dead before you even knew what hit you.’

"Um, Mr. Grant, I was just telling the truth, so please don’t be upset! It’s not your fault, really. Out of all the women here, I’m the only unfamiliar face. I imagine if you had pointed to any other girl, Miss Thompson wouldn’t have believed you for a second. Your luck is just terrible, though, because I already have a boyfriend. So even though I’m a new face, I’m sure Miss Thompson won’t fall for your act now!"
